i have never visited a lighthouse. but im sure ill enjoy watching these videos.. theyre so interesting and captivating.
The history of many lighthouses is indeed very interesting. The effort to preserve these historical structures adds another element to their history. For example, the Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina and Nauset Lighthouse in Cape Cod.
Hi Tim, just wanted to say thanks again for your mighty instructional video! I wanted to suggest that you aught to consider posting your videos on some online training platforms like Coursera, Udemy and Pluralsight (there are no doubt other popular options, but these are platforms I'm currently upskilling on). Your videos are so much more straight forward than many instructors out there that new students (from around the world...I'm writing to you from Ireland) would learn more effectively from your insights. And you could earn yourself a few pennies doing it. Just my two cents is all. I hope this message finds you well.
I just wanted to say thank you for this wonderful, clear and concise tutorial! I've been reading through the Oracle documentation as well as following a "get started" chapter of an online course for this technology...and nothing was as good and time-saving as this! Many thanks!
@@downloaddave-s4e I really appreciate your comment!
thanks a lot!
Thank you - very good explanation
Glad you liked it
Ehy you stop making videos, you teach like a professor 8n class room. Please make a video on how to install vm ware, how to install linux os on that and how to install oracle database and create pdb and connect it with putty.exe. Pleae reply me ❤❤
Thank you sir!
Sir !! You deserve a lot more subscribers. Great tutorial.
Appreciate the comment!
thanks
You are welcome. Thanks for the comment.
This has to be the best explanation there is. Fast, to the point, no crap and no distraction. Thank you very much professor.
Thanks for your comment!
Thank you, mister!
You are welcome. Lighthouses are an interesting part of history.
Can you go right up to the top ; like you can in the Highland Light.
@@rockmassa4151 The lighthouse is maintained by the Nauset Light Preservation Society. You would need to visit the lighthouse during one of the tour dates to be able to climb the lighthouse. The schedule of tour dates can be found on their website: www.nausetlight.org/
Yes...but can you go right up where the light is; the Highland Light....you can go right up to the top where the light is.
@@rockmassa4151 if you are asking whether you can touch the light beacons or walk around the upper railing outside, the answer is no. It is still a nice climb and view.
Really good information, and very nicely explained. Huge respect.
Thanks for your comment!
Highly appreciated :D
Thanks for the comment. Glad to hear this is helpful.
Thank you very much. Good networking refresher.

You are welcome. This is a powerful and useful capability in relational database systems.
Good to see you enjoying your retirement. Keep at it, professor 👍
It is nice to hear from you. Thanks!
@@TheInsightfulProfessor Can't wait until I am retired myself someday; there are endless projects one can pursue as a Computer Science student. I'm glad I got the chance to absorb some of your wisdom before you rode off into the sunset. Thank you for some inspiring classes.
How is this lesson so underrated and has no comments? Excelent detailed explanation.
Although object-relational technology has been available for several years, it seems that people are not making use of it. This is unfortunate because it is powerful and potentially quite useful. Thanks for your comment!
thank you really helpful
Happy to hear it was helpful. Thanks for the comment.
Beautiful explanation.
Thank you. I am pleased to hear that you liked it.
I just can't thank you enough.

I have this error and I don't know how to solve it Connection in progress...ORA-12514: TNS: listening process does not currently know the service requested in the connection descriptor The test failed.
When you install Oracle 18c Express Edition, there will be a container database (CDB) and a pluggable database (PDB). The CDB is named XE and the PDB is named XEPDB1. The following examples use SQL*Plus to connect to the database. (1) Here we connect to the CBD named XE (this is the service name): Enter user-name: system/ORACLE@xe Connected. (2) Here we connect to the PDB named XEPDB1 (this is the service name): connect system/ORACLE@xepdb1 Connected. (3) Here we attempt to connect a database named XEPDB2 (this is the service name): connect system/ORACLE@xepdb2 ERROR: ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified This connection failed because there is no information about XEPDB2 for the listener. It does not know anything about XEPDB2 because we have not included information about this database in the TNSNAMES.ORA file. The information that must be given to the listener through the TNSNAMES.ORA file includes hostname, protocol, port, and service name. If there is no entry in the TNSNAMES.ORA file, an attempt to connect will result in ORA-12154. If there information is incorrect in the TNSNAMES.ORA file, an attempt to connect will result in ORA-12154. If this is not clear, review the video on installing Oracle 18c Express Edition.
Thank you so much for the clear explanation!
Happy to hear that you found it helpful. Thanks for the comment.
Super helpful. Your explanation was clear and to the point.
Glad to hear it helped. Thanks for the comment.
Where can i get the slides ?
nice
why
Thank you for explanation. We are using 11g and going for 19c. in 11g we have 3 databases, and all databases have different Sys and System Passwords for security reasons. But If we migrate 11g DB to 19c as PDB, SYS and SYSTEM password will be Changed to CDB. Right?
Thanks for the comment! A common user (e.g., SYS, SYSTEM) is defined in the root or CDB and is known to every container or PDB. Every common user can connect to and perform operations within any container, CDB or PDB. Here is some rather detailed information to answer your question. The process of consolidating data from multiple databases into one database on one computer is known as database consolidation. Oracle Multitenant allows consolidation of data and code without altering existing schemas or applications. Oracle Multitenant is supported by an architecture that allows a container database (CDB) to hold many pluggable databases (PDB). By consolidating databases as PDBs, administrators can manage many database as one. Tasks like backup and disaster recovery are performed at the CDB level. From the perspective of a client connecting via Oracle Net, the PDB is the database. From the point of view of the operating system, the CDB is the database. A single CDB can contain many PDBs, where each is, ultimately, its own set of self-contained data files. Each PDB defines a private namespace for all the phenomena, like users, roles, public synonyms, and so on. In releases of Oracle Database prior to 12c, we had a "non-CDB" database where each name must be unique within the whole database. Thus, each PDB in a particular CDB can have a user called Scott. It follows that the result of granting privileges and roles to such users is reflected within a PDB. Every CDB exactly one root container. The root stores Oracle-supplied metadata and common users. An example of metadata is the source code for Oracle-supplied PL/SQL packages. A common user is a database user known in every container. PDBs isolate data and operations so that from the perspective of a user or application, each PDB appears as if it were a traditional non-CDB. A common user is a database user that has the same identity in the root and in every existing and future PDB. Every common user can connect to and perform operations within the root, and within any PDB in which it has privileges. Every common user is either Oracle-supplied or user-created. Examples of Oracle-supplied common users are SYS and SYSTEM. The operations that a common user can perform depend on the privileges granted to the common user. Some administrative tasks, such as creating a PDB or unplugging a PDB, must be performed by a common user. A local user is a user that exists in exactly one PDB. All Oracle-supplied administrative user accounts are common users and can navigate across the CDB. Common users can have different privileges in different PDBs. For example, the common user SYSTEM can switch between PDBs and use privileges granted to SYSTEM in the current PDB. In a multitenant environment, a local user is a database user that exists only in a PDB. Local users can have administrative privileges, but these privileges apply only in the PDB in which that user account was created.
Aww they’re so happy
trying to create pub from another one included all its schemas but showing error ERROR at line 1: ORA-65169: error encountered while attempting to copy file D:\ORACLEDB12C\ORADATA\CDB\DEV\USERS01.DBF ORA-19504: failed to create file "D:\ORACLEDB12C\ORADATA\CDB\LIVE\CDB\8C95858874424C96AF2B3D5315B3E714\DATAFILE\O 1_MF_USERS_KK4F2ODX_.DBF" ORA-27044: unable to write the header block of file OSD-04008: WriteFile() failure, unable to write to file O/S-Error: (OS 112) There is not enough space on the disk.
You have not formulated a question. However, given the error messages you presented, it appears that there is insufficient space on the disk where you are attempting create the file. This is not an issue with the database system. Datafiles for an Oracle database are often quite large, so you should consider the size of the current size of the datafile for the USERS tablespace, i.e., USER01.DBF.
Thank you professor. Your video helped me a lot.

this dude is Top Notch Af
Thank you so much Sir for this video your explanation was very easy to understand and I was able to install 18C without facing any problem. Love from India🇮🇳
Happy to hear the installation went well.
Thank You professor for this video. Everything is clearly explained. p.s. One thing: In the 16:50 in that place I had to write my computer's name instead of "LOCALHOST", but everything else worked the same :)
Glad to hear that the installation went well. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the Help
i would have problems in that it would suddenly not connect and compain about listener etc. For anyone else having the same problems, for some reason it doesn't like localhost being the host name in the net configuration assistant (16:49). i only solved it by typing "tnsping xe" at a command line, and it gives me an IP address and port number (which was 1521). Using this IP address instead of localhost meant it connected OK. Maybe that might help someone in a similar situation...
nice explanation sir :D
Thank you.
sir, you are a gent, and have saved me from insanity many times with this video. for some reason, i have to keep coming back and doing my net configuration assistant stuff. i don't know why it doesn't save it, as it sometimes does. so annoying. but thank you for this. it's the only vid I found that helped.
Amazing lesson! Thanks so much.
Thanks for the comment! I am glad you liked it.
When I type SYSTEM/ORACLE at the end, I'm getting a : ERROR: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
The username is not case-sensitive, but the password is case-sensitive. You must enter the password exactly as it was assigned. Thus, ORACLE is not the same as Oracle nor is it the same as oracle.
@@TheInsightfulProfessor Something is then definitely wrong. I had as username SYSTEM and as a password something simple I recall perfectly. No upper case letters or any weird symbols. And it's just not letting me in... :( Solved it by re-installing. All is fine now.
Thank you so much!! You explained it so beautifully!!!
Thanks for the feedback! I am glad you found it helpful.
Any C.S. major will understand what he's talking about. But C.S. people aren't making managerial or administrative decisions, so all the information technology people who are in leadership positions NEED this intro. I like it.
Thanks for the comment.
thank you professor.
You are quite welcome.
Checked that all Oracle Services are indeed running. Performing the explicit connect in SQLPlus to XEPDB1 still results in another error message... ORA-12154. TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified Following with warning you are now no longer connected to oracle
The error which I receive is ORA-12541: TNS no listener. The test did not succeed. However I also did have the ORA-12560 : TNS: protocal adapter error. I have followed instructions to the tee ( yours being the best of all by far thank you). The installation and notices have been performed as indicated, all without error. All configuration values entered correctly according to videos and documentation. I can view the Database /CDB and PDB1 with SQLPlus. I'm using SYSTEM as the User, ( instead of WIN10 User), However the step to Test Connection both in the TNS Connection tool, or SQL Developer fail with the respective errors mentioned above. kindly advise. many thanks.
Glad to hear you resolved the issue. Localhost is treated a little different. I have been offline most of today due to hurricane Henri, so l could not get back to you.
An excellent talk; going unnoticed...
Understanding the theory that underlies a complex software system allows you to make better use of that software. Thanks for the comment.
