@@WillowwParker thank you, ☺️. The Morepork are one of my favourite birds to photograph.
Another awesome video. Great photos but the one half in shadow is superb.
@@georgeherman7846 thank you mate, really appreciated. Once you locate a Morepork you generally have plenty of time to photograph them and experiment different techniques. On that occasion I got lucky with a really dark background and a side light on the bird allowing for a low key image. 📸👍
@MaddoxphotographyNZ you are motivating to get another camera and get out there.
@@georgeherman7846 absolutely, as you know it’s a lot of fun and good for the soul 😄
Such a beautiful location. I can still remember the excitement of finally finding a Ruru on Great Barrier Island after a year of searching!
@@jackdos14 cheers mate, it really is a special place with great access to Morepork. As you know it definitely takes time to locate them but sooo worth it. 📸👍

Great shots, I've only ever seen one reef heron before, and that was on Great Barrier Island. 🙂
Thank you, have been really lucky locating this resident Reef Heron at Aotea Harbour. Almost every outgoing tide he will turn up and do a spot of fishing in the rock pools.

@@aprilostapchuk3404 haha fantastic, birding is definitely obsessive. New video coming out this week. 😃
Bird of the year New Zealand? All of them, I could never pick just one,I am obsessed and I am eternally jealous of all the birds in Australia,so I guess I can add New Zealand to the list 😊❤😊
@@aprilostapchuk3404 you absolutely should, we are very lucky in New Zealand with our amazing birds but a lot are endangered due to pests 🥲
@@MaddoxphotographyNZ I would travel there in an instant,if I could, just need passports for me and my husband, and enough money 😊 I absolutely adore the kākāpō,and it's a shame that there are less than 300 of them left in existence
Hahahahah so good 😂😂😂😂

Great shots! I had to use captions at times because the music was too loud for me to hear you, so that's something to watch out for in the next one. Looking forward to more ruru videos 🦉
Cheers for the feedback and yes totally agree, it’s a work in progress so hopefully they will be get better in time. Thank you for watching 👍
Easy subscribe and neat video. A lot of those roosts were a lot lower down then what I’d expect 😮🦉
Cheers mate, yeah they are never really any higher than 3-4m off the ground and sometimes as low as 0.5m. Obviously when chicks are around they head higher into the Tawa trees.
@@MaddoxphotographyNZ All my roosts I've found them in have always been above 3-4m! I guess it really varies depending on the maturity of the forest. Anyways a top tip for next time i'm searching for these beautiful invisible birds in a more mature ngahere
Magical mate - on my bucket list to shoot these little gems
Thank you, absolutely should be on everyone’s bucket list. It’s a really special bird to have an encounter with. 👍
