in Australia, when we have open diffs, we overcome this sort of situation by holding down the accelerator and stomping on and off the brake a few times, by which you stop the wheels spinning, put equal resistance on both wheels, and when you release the brake usually sends just enough power to the wheel with traction to get you going again, there been many a tough situation when I've been in a remote bush track and gotten stuck because of open diffs, and holding down the accelerator and stomping on and off the brakes had been just enough to get me through. y'all should try it some time
