Tbh if me and three people who’ve hated each other for fifteen years suddenly found out we could sing in perfect barbershop pitch we’d be inseparable too
Award winning SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America) barbershop quartet The Buffalo Bills is the group in the film, following their appearance in the Broadway show for a year. The tenor was Vern Reed, who, along with lead Al Shea, were the two quartet members during its 1947-67 lifetime. The almost hysterically long SPEBSQSA name and acronym has been shortened to the Barbershop Harmony Society. Originally formed for men's quartets, it now has women & other than quartets as members.
I’m sure to the average person the high tenor or the bass might stand out the most. But for me, The voice of the baritone (2nd to the right) was so wonderful. His moving part on a lot of the sustained notes by the others was so well blended!
If you know Mike rowe, he used to sing in them and one of his podcasts "The Way I Heard it" He discusses his dealings with one of his teachers in the past who was infamous in the barbershop quartet circuit.
I've wanted to be in a barbershop quartet ever since I first saw this movie.
🎆 🎇 🤩 😍
They were called the Buffalo Bills
Beautiful
2:57. The fireworks going off in the background was the icing on the cake for this whole scene

This is solid gold.
For those unaware the quartet is played by the Buffalo Bills barbershop quartet which all are reprising their roles from the broadway show
I’m so glad this movie was made when it was. In the modern age, they’d be singing “the lion sleeps tonight”
The little guy going wayyy up will never not be funny to me Idk why-

My father was in a barbershop quqrtet. He.has the insignia of the barbershop Society on his tombstone. A barbershop quartet sang at his funeral.
