This is West Sumbawa - 2 blokes on a surfing strike mission from Lombok
Просмотров 4,8 тыс.7 месяцев назад
A surf trip from Lombok to West Sumbawa in early December 2023. We rode from Kuta Lombok got the ferry to Sumbawa then rode down the west Coast of Sumbawa. One of the best adventures of my life, and I totally recommend it to anyone. Its very affordable, just fill your bike up with petrol, the ferry is about $8 AUD, the trip from Kuta to YoYos (Sekonkang) takes 6 hours all up, but its a mellow r...

    Are you still riding the MF Twin? I am trying to decide between the MF and the FCS Pang TC Twin. Have you ever tried the Pang? If so, how does it compare? Thanks

      Sorry man, never tried the Pangs but I will say they do look very similar to the MR twins and I had those before the Mick Fannings and found the MFs to be way superior to the MRs in drive and manoeuvrability. But remember Im riding as a 2+1 not a pure twin.

    just mount a f*ing handle, bro !!!!!!!!! it's waaaaaaay easier that way! besides: 1200 cm2 is too little a foil surface, for learning; the stall speed is high, about 14-15 km/h for a 80 kg person ! in order to learn it, at least 1600 cm2 are required...

      Yeah Bro at Rip Curl Sunset road. But they are crazy expensive but considering they last way longer than a PU board I think theyre worth it. But I bought mine in Australia where they are much cheaper, like 40% cheaper.

      She had sneakers but had to change out of them because how much water we had to walk through. The trek is up and down the whole way. You start high and walk down to the 1st waterfall, then up, over and down to the next one, and so on, the final trek is all up hill back to the carpark. We were so exhausted on the drive home we hardly said a word to our driver!

    I know the feeling. It does eventually come together. My board looks so beaten up now from crashing into the concrete dock repeatedly. Got up to being able to travel about 80 metres before I bought a new prone foiling board and got worried about damaging it so temporarily on hold for dock starts. Might have to buy a junk board to keep going. It does help sometimes to get a few like minded mates along for a hype session.

    • @eatsurfsleeprepeat5485
      @eatsurfsleeprepeat5485 Год назад

      100%, you should see my board now! I havent done dockies for months but have proned about 10 times and slowly getting better but my board is fkn hammered with dings from me falling and hitting the rails. I love my board but they make them too soft. Could use another layer of glass for sure. It wont last more than 12 months I reckon. Its inly 4months old now. If I went back to being able to do dockies Id make a dockies board from timber I reckon. Theres a few youtube vids on it I think. And the board doesnt need to be bouyant really, its just a landing pad right.

    If you can find a dock that allows it, try the "bobsled" approach. Worked for me when I was learning. Run as fast as you can along the dock treating the board like a bobsled. Then when at top speed, jump on. But the water level can't be too far down from the dock otherwise it's too hard to run fast. And obviously there can't be any pylons or under dock obstacles in the way. This method I found great for 2 reasons....... First, I'm already engaged with the board and foil before jumping on.. And second, the launch speed gives you a nice glide before even attempting the first pump. I felt somewhat composed with feet finding correct position before initiating the first pump.... But otherwise keep at it. Hope the body is kind to you. ruclips.net/video/QxrXnka_TVY/видео.html

      I love your video Jason, you are an absolute champion, congrats on amazing progress. I think I need a bigger wing too. Mines probably 2/3 the size of yours. Good for surf, but not easy to dock start. No where near as much glide as you get but will try the tips you’ve shared and keep at it. Thankyou brother 🙏🏼

      @@eatsurfsleeprepeat5485 No worries. Hey I just watched your other vid where the board hits the dock. I don't think I've ever winced so much from an inanimate object before but that was painful to watch. Keep the swear words coming🤬. They do help.😁 Edit: Believe it or not but I actually kept a journal of my progress. That board hitting the dock reminded my of a particular day. Here's an excerpt....... Day 15. Tues 14th June. Shithouse. Put foil at back of board but this session had me stuck somewhere between Day 2 & 3. New board aint working for me. Am tempted to go back to old board but really hoping it will click with this new board. It's like I've lost all control. There's not enough swing weight to keep it balanced. I don't know. And its fucking cold. And did some minor damage to nose of new board. Just some paint scatched off. But still. The board was attracted to those dam rocks for some reason. Like it was seeking them out. Shithouse. *Note. After some soul searching, I remembered the river was up and so my foil was deep in the water when launching. I have to do this or else it will hit the concrete edge. On RUclips I've noticed others have the foil wing just under the surface to allow heaps of room for the first pump. There's so many things to consider and remember.

      I surf these fins in my 5’7 mashup pretty much exclusively and up to shoulder height waves. Anything over that Im switching to the H4 thrusters or Quads. I find the twins too loose in larger conditions. Yeah absolutely they would go well in wider tailed boards. They suit all types of twinnies but remember its all about the feel that ‘youre’ trying to get from the board. Some ppl might prefer a keel style feel in smaller conditions with a wider more traditional fish tail. Hope that helps and sorry for the long delay in reply

    H4 hype is real. I put H4 thrusters in my JS Bullseye. Bullseye is marketed as a "forgiving allrounder" but the H4's make it feel knifey and precise while still retaining flow and speed through carves. A shame they are so expensive - only bought them because I got an unexpectedly large bonus at work.
