Dr. Pinhas means well, but she's a dreadful mental health provider. She has far too many emotional issues of her own with which to contend and she refuses to handle them responsibly. It's ironic, and sad, that she talks about creating a safe space for her clients when she's completely incapable of providing even the most basic of requirements for that safety. Dr. Pinhas needs to step back from her practice and reassess her abilities before she does some serious damage to the delicate souls in her care.

The number of psychotherapists trained in psychiatry or psychoanalysis is very limited. psychologists sometimes social workers trained in psychotherapy are not insurance funded except for only 3 sessions. some GP's have trained themselves and provide short term intervention using just listening . To my surprise , the simple act of listening for 30 or 60 minutes has brought tremendous change in a patient,s illness , sometimes in ONE session . That has changed my whole approach to treatment as a family doc.

It would be good to find some information regarding healing the brain after DV in 2005 which started CPS seizures. The doctors are calling the type of seizures Epilepsy which I have found hard to accept as a diagnosis as I was not born with this condition.

For equity in psychotherapy, OHIP-funded psychotherapy should be expanded to services provided by social workers as well - the only health profession with a mandate for social justice.

Psychotherapy needs to remain publicly funded. IMHO, it's essential to the public good.

You are very courageous Clare. The story of your story needs to be told. I am a registered psychotherapist who sees a variety of patients with life long chronic difficulties. Like you say, psychotherapy, in particular intensive psychotherapy, heals over time and assists an individual move toward a healthier and more meaningful life. Michael Shaughnessy
