There’s one set on a blazing hot day with a stranded couple just about to be hauled away by a couple of ‘Mad Max’ recovery men when the RAC dude shows up to the applause of the backed-up traffic queue. I loved that ad SO much when I was a kid. Gimme Shelter playing on that one too. Makes me ridiculously emotional!

I have a good memory for tastes, and I vividly remember how bad Tab Clear was. It tasted like heavily watered-down Diet Coke (Which I think is horrible.) with a hint of a weird chemically spiciness kind of like dandelion and burdock. Not quite that, but as close as I can describe it. But it was such a weak watery drink, it was truly awful. They were promoting it heavily, to the point where they were just giving out free cans at every event local to me for probably over half a year. That's why I drank enough of it for it to have made a lasting impression on me. As far as I recall, it was discontinued after no more than a year. It did have prominence in shop fridges during its life. And for a good while after it was axed, you'd still see a few rogue cans now and then which just weren't shifting because nobody liked it. Probably the biggest element of disaster with Tab Clear was that it was only sold in cans, which made its clearness pointless as you couldn't see it. Yeah, you could pour it into a glass. But the vast majority of people just drink it out of the can.
