My fave kill in the franchise. So chilling. Just a random guy grabbed and gobbled up. Nice quality video of the scene.
It’s my favorite kill as well. The only civilian death in the franchise until Dominion. The most chilling aspect is definitely his gurgling after the Buck bites down, so brutal and unforgiving.
@@j.h.6124 I agree. Some people say the gurgling is funny; others say it's disturbing. I tend to think the latter, especially as it represents those huge teeth plunging into his body.
@@j.h.6124 @BygoneEra Imagine how brutal that would have been! Having the wind crushed out of you by the powerful jaws, and deposited, stunned and dazed on the ground, a big foot stomping on your right side as the looming mouth of your predator comes in to finish you off. His legs were still kicking as he was dropped off, which means he wasn't paralyzed when he hit the ground. Doubtless tried to roll over and avoid certain death. I'd hate to have been him in this moment.

The horrors of my childhood
This movie, as well as the first one, has a perfect balance of romance, comedy, action, thriller, and fantasy! Very well made movie. I love the actors and the relationship between the characters! Outstanding!

To this day, i am terrified of dying this way
I remembered having the unfortunate time as a much younger kid, to only have stumbled upon THIS exact scene when it was airing on TV. My mother caught me watching it and lightly scolded at me as she changed the channel immediately. But by then, I guess you could say the damage was done. I had nightmares for a short period of time from this. Sometimes not even the bugs. But one odd (yet silly) dream of a twister coming out of a man’s ear while they are in an Egyptian tomb. Of course as years go by, I totally forgot about the scene. Teenage years, is when I first watched The Mummy and loved it. My surprised when I first saw the Dude finding a Scarab in the wall, was when I realized “Oh damn. This was the movie where it’s from?”

Yeah I know 😅. Back then They probably were thinking “nobody will notice since people won’t be able to rewind this.” maybe the prosthetic foot was too fake and they put a shoe on it so either they forgot to tell the stuntman to wear shoes or they filmed him first and screwed up on the fake leg 🤷.

@ yeah that scared me too I only watched the 1999 one I’m so glad I didn’t watch “the mummy returns” or I would’ve been so scared. But the swarming did scare me a bit

It's a symbol of the sun god Khepri, an aspect of Ra, and scarab talismans were were omnipresent throughout Egypt as magical seals. Imhotep being buried alive with dozens of real ones makes sense from an spiritual view, as he murdered the living conduit to the gods and is being sealed away spiritually as well as physically. His screams of horror as they are poured on him are justified, because as High Priest he understands better than anyone the implications for his soul. The fact that thousands of years later the scarabs meant to seal him are flesh-hungry horrors that serve him is a testament to the evil power of his curse.

I think the scarabs in this film series are just a fictitious species of hypercarnivorous, swarm hunting beetles that can somehow hibernate for thousands of years without air, either that or they're also undead and bred specifically for the ritual that was used on Imhotep.
