I'm a writer and although it's books for me and not songs, I completely relate to the way she keeps saying "I just need to get it down!" My books tend to come in parts that are often out of order and they can come at any moment so I'll be cleaning the house or taking care of my kid and a part will just come from out of no where whenever they feel like coming and when I am finally able to write it down and I am inevitably interrupted trying to write it, there's very much that frustrated "Goddamn it, I just need to get this down!" sort of reaction. Because what if you lose it or by the time you do get it down, it's not as good as it was when it first came to you? That happens. I am grateful that I don't have to have anyone else to do the work with me, though, because over the past two decades, I would have been dragging everyone out of bed at 3 am to do the work quite often. 😂
