Thx for the detailed coverage. We r planning a 3 week trip this July from US to Vienna- > Salzburg-> Hallstatt > Lucerne> I/Laken > Zurich> back home.. Looks like Hallstatt is better to visit from Salzburg. Any reason why you didnt go to the look out platform that is over the river? Is there a special trip you have to do get there and can it be fitted in a day trip. Not keen on salt mine.
