Sounds like a Commercial for China
When Jeff answer the question: 'Why China succeed in globalization'. He said it is due to foreign investment and info-strucutre. But, he miss the the most important point: China has the best social system, plus the efficient government leaded by experienced leader. Which no other country has it.
Singapore needs superpower to keep opening. That doesn't mean China should make his judge based on Singapore's national interest. China should keep negociating with US market.
China has pitfalls including racism (white people are still worshipped in almost all cultures), aging population, impending low birthrate (it's happened in every other wealthy North Asian country, may be interrelated to racism), and brain drain. In order for the US to stay on top, we have to continue to benefit from the brain drain from everywhere, especially China, and that means attracting people by our society's freedoms, but also we need less racism and low crime to continue to attract talent.
Chi-Com propaganda channel alert. One million deaths and 32 million infected worldwide. We will see Chi-Com trials like Nuremberg in the next decade.

The western speakers do not really understand China enough to know what China really is, economically and culturally. As Kishore said, it’s like a kid nation trying to educate an adult one. China has reached a position where like the US before, it can stand alone. But the rest of the world outside the imperialist west and even some of them need China for their economies to survive. Most of this is owing to the cheap supply of Chinese goods to maintain their living standards and for them to industrialize. The world would gravitate towards China simply because it means positive progress for them and veer away from the US as it is a destructive force whether you engage with it or be against it.
US over spend on Military Budget, forgot to improve the more urgent matter in its own country, plus the disparity of the rich and poor, the gap its getting too large!
Sounds like half news to me . China should do this and that, too bad the factories are moving to Vietnam India and elsewhere. Oh by the way Trump walked away from the Iran talks because Obama stole 31 billion fron state workers SS retirement funds and gave Iran some of that money, it was in the billions. If Biden wins war will happen and every one should worry about that.
My mind boggles at the statement that the defending country is just as guilty as the country who initiated the attack on that country. Is this our western logic?

Why very county want to create war do we stupid or just want to kill each until no one in the earth.
US behaviour toward China is a gesture of fear that their meals out of money printing, dividing, milking and bullying countries around the world will soon come to an end with the rise of a new saviour.
bunch of china shills and ccp trolls #free #tibet :)
The US have realized that Trump's trade war with China, the loser already is US, while China cannot be hurt. US cannot afford 1 or 2 decades of isolation, which will only embolden China.
Why does know one acknowledge that the world is a better place if America is contained and sent home. All CIA all NED sponsored NGOS and all soldiers and drone must go home to America. These killers need to be contained within the borders of America. This is the only chance for a peaceful world. Contain all the evil within the American borders. The world will blossom.
After killing native Americans and still killing the African Americans, these returnees might have to start killing white Americans? Don’t think they’ll entertain this idea of getting all the killers back to home soil.
going to dump all my usd for rmb, any followers here ?
Do you even know what percentage of Chinese transactions are settled in RMB? 1%! Because nobody wants that shit. Educate yourself before talking stupid on a public forum.
It is just natural the world no1 power will do everything in its power to cling to the top spot. This conflict between the US and China is inevitable no matter who is in the office. The difference is Obama / Biden is more of a long term thinker aiming to contain China while Trump is more aggressive though incuring a higher cost of deteriated economic relationship.
Tao Yitao's speech is so out-of-sync with the rest of the panel, is the most boring portion of this discussion. She did a lot of salesman or saleswoman-ship. It is like a commercial break in tv shows. Can skip it.
Thanks for the wonderful forum organized. I would like to know more about shenzhen development and wondering if you could help to link me with relevant scholars. Thank you.
The uncertainty is human fate. Nothing new.
It takes two hands to clap. Must compromise on and learn to give and take. Win win situation for both party can make things work. China must think ahead and never underestimate how unscrupulous or low down the other party can get, and never let their guard down whether economically, socially or military. Never be afraid to go against any forces of ill intent.
At the beginning of Trump 1st term US-China policies were not bi-partisan. It would be more correct to say some of Trump's China's policies are quite irrational n can be reversed.
US is sinking and like drowning people, is grabbing at straws. Politically it is sending out Pompeo as a war salesman. His job is to look for lackeys to do its dirty job of striking at China. By itself it is powerless to strike at China. So it is going all over the world looking for help. Who wants to die for America?
TRUMP n. POPIAH R GOING TO HELL WITH COVID 19 WELL. DONE. COVID 19
US intelligence has fell in to a dark racists place
Colonised nations would sacrifice their economies and people for the US!
Nothing really new for what have been talked about, except Kishore is still persistent on his views that are he addressed in mainly in his books. So this was a rather boring talk.....
USA is closing on all front with banning , tarriff, sanction, trying to kill a company by a Country.
CHINA GOING TO BE NUMBER ONE WORLD POWER . WHETHER USA ACCEPT OR NOT CHINA WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT IRAN IN ITS QUEST TO USE NUCLEAR FOR PEACEFUL MEANS. USA GO BACK TO THE JCPOA AGGREMENT WITH IRAN IF THE USA WANTS TO SOLVE THE KOREAN PROBLEM THEN BEHAVE USA ONLY CHINA CAN SOLVE WITIN ONE SECOND
yes in 20 years there will be the real china without tibet, tukistan, south mongolia, Hk etc :)

Alicia is wise.
The reason that we have all these talks about decoupling is because missteps of United States-unable to provide its half or more of citizens a good life, in contrast to, as Kishore points out, how Singapore retrains its displaced workers. Worse, US has wasted $trillions raging wars overseas instead of improving the much needed infrastructure. US needs a plan to re-enrich its people; decoupling with China or the world is a fool’s errands to achieve that. Trump knows it too, but he needs to win first. Sadly bashing China and releasing China hawks is one of his tricks. After the election, it will get better no matter who is the POTUS. Technology decoupling is likely to go on to slow China down.
Hi professor u are the only Indian that said China is wining~
Wining wining situation?!
AS Long AS China stays open, no one would say no. America can do its own things with God. The Rest of the world would get on just fine.
Open door has become Major policy of China. Xi has no gut to close China. Chinese people have rights to enjoy high quality products from around the world. BMW, Tesla, Nike, NBA, Benz.... you name it. Whoever want close the doors of China is the traitor of Chinese people
Kishore pointed out USA biggest problem: when US factories failed to compete with Japan or German, instead of investing and retraining they closed down the factories and blamed everything on Communist China.
Good point, the evidence clearer by the day!
American companies were among the first to outsource production to China. American helped China open up AND helped them join the WTO.
@@MithunOnTheNet All good. So what had USA done right to correct their own mistakes to make America Great again?
With Trump latest moves using Covid-19, I think that he will Win.
Kishore says China shouldn't underestimate US. I reckon it should be the other way round. US shouldn't underestimate China. It's the US that applies the pressure. After all China has all the time and patience to play along and be better in it.
Why and what Kishore really means when he says that?
Kishore pointed out USA biggest problem: when US factories failed to compete with the Japan or German, instead of investing and retraining they closed down the factories and blamed everything on Communist China.
orangutan324 If you saw Kishore other speeches you will realised that he is not just saying China should undermine but as well as US shouldn’t undermine China. He tweaks and frames his speeches to the target audience. When he spoke to the west to the US, he appeals to them to not oppress China for US own good. US failure is their arrogance. Because they thought they are strong and thus stop innovating and resort to oppressing. And he speaks about why oppressing China unlike Japan will not work in the West favor in other speeches to the West. Cause of the culture and the values of the people. He is speaking to Chinese audience here, not western. Asking US should not undermine China here, isn’t something that is up to the Chinese. But he did mention in other places even if you oppress or don’t want to give place to the rise of China. The rise of China remains inevitable.
Well the US has been known to use dirty tricks to win at all cost. It is an appropriate warning. We still don't know for sure the true source of the virus. If it was deliberately released in to China by the US, which is one of the many possible scenarios, it could have had a different outcome such as China's economy destroyed and the US sailing ahead and winning. Nobody expected china to almost eradicate the virus within china and nobody expected the US not to be able to contain it in the US.
All speakers are aware that the consequences of the decoupling of the US and China. This situation is not going away no matter who wins the US election if animosity between the US and China continues. Pro Kishore has explained why the US was illogical in trying to change China with no results. Great analysis.
Jeff, it is US making all the threatening moves, not China. Only US needs to stand down, not both.
Very hard for westerners to dump their perception. Only cold hard knocks can wake them up.
The present US administrator think that US can go back to isolationism and be great before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour in WW2. During US isolationism period, US was selling military war goods and financial support to most European nations to get rich. Now the moron unethical president try to follow the formula. Very naive and stupid to do so.
The key word is responsible state holder, not democratic or social oriented government. Democracy has failed, in Roman time and in the last two hundred years.
It is only that the States gave a bad name to democracy! Misunderstanding the principle is not...good. Yap yap yap !
Why so call experts sing the same tune warning the rest of the world not to under estimate USA. Is it not USA who has/is under estimating the rest of the world with its arrogance and double standards. All past evil regimes made the same mistake under estimating their opponents. USA under estimating China and Russia is the reason for its failure/predicament today.
Russia and the US are most likely allies through Israel
As always, my due respect to Kishore Mahbubani's presence in this forum. Many important elements from his many published books covered the multitude of failures coming from the western civilization. In spite of the many wars and world wars, the western hemisphere has never really come together as a complete nation. The United Nations was created as an attempt to unify the western countries, other eastern and mid-eastern countries were brought in at some later times as complimentary members. Take the USA and the EU as an example, these two entities were never united. For the USA, its history was built on immigrants and conquest by the european countries and was later separated through wars and civil wars. Until this century, they became a cesspool of dissindents within the many immigrants. Even though the immigrants later was given citizenship - they never exist with one-heart for the country. Thus, the goverments that exist through the century were a cabal of elite - giving rise to eliism. It takes the covid pandemic to expose all these weakness. As a reflection on what happen with the history of China on a similar path, throught the many local wars and invasion by the mongol, manchu and other ethenic groups - it finally become one nation with one heart, and they too "decouple" from the rest of the world! It was only by the late 20th century that is finally open its "bamboo-curtain". So, perhaps it is good that USA "decouple" itself and takes time to reform itself - not a totally bad idea... war, neither cold nor hot is the solution. God bless the USA! Just my humble opinion.

American’s ending hegemony close in an age of uncertainty world.
W.Choegyal : in a much more autonomous world.
Western will never make sense of China if we persist in treating it as if it is, or should be, a product of our own civilization. Our present attitude towards China is a function of arrogance and ignorance. And it threatens to leave us puzzled , confused and alienated.
