The girls at the end are blaming social media for how the young feel about their own country.... ridiculous 😂
Hi people where happy back then compared to the shite that's about today😢
No foreigners
You should really look into getting this colourized, they did similar with past footage of London AMAZING.. It's really sad(the music doesn't help) knowing that most if not all these people are now out in DowdallsHill 🖤🙏🏼
Ohhh so J Keeley & Sons just sells? General Sh*t 😮..
Just think of all that delicious, children's-minds-destroying lead in the car-polluted air. It took decades of campaigning to remove lead from petrol.
Nice one Wally 👍🏻
Beautiful the old days were we were so free as kids amazing times wish my kids could see it😢
This is incredible. My great-great Grandfather and his father were born in Dundalk. This gives me an idea of where they came from. Thank you.
I worked a lot in Dundalk in 1978-1990 and again 1997 to 2002. A really handsome town, impaired by the Troubles in that era. These photos show the architectural heritage so very well.
Wonderful!
When were the photos from?
Enjoyed that, thanks!
Year?
Well done for uploading this compilation of photos. I'm from Dundalk but moved away in early 90s. Always loved the heritage side of the town but seeing all these souls that came and went before us makes you really think, we're only here a short spell. ❤ the early pix of castletown rd, (near to where Fagans is now).
Ahh Jaaaaaz, that brought back great memories. I used to play in a band called Convoy. Loved every minute of it. Great Times. So sad to see live music on its knees.
Amazing Women
What was the music?
Thank you. As a kid I spent summers in Dundalk with my grandparents. Lots of memories. What year(s) were these? I think the photo of a lady with a bicycle could have been my grandmother. I know she and her sister were the first to have bicycles in the town. Would have been in t6he 1890's She was Mary Hamill, they had a store "Hamill's of Park Street". Wow! Amazing.

However history is history, so here's the spiel to go with this film: A film record of the 4th Marquis of Bute, John Crichton-Stuart (1881-1947) to Augusta Mary Monica Bellingham - the daugher of Sir Alan Bellingham, 4th Baronet at Castle Bellingham, County Louth, Ireland. This remarkable film is believed to the the UK's earliest wedding film. It was made in the days before cinema when travelling showmen screened films at the fairground. The personal nature of the film may mean that the film was specially commissioned by the family to record the wedding - it was made for showing to family and friends, but not general public viewing. The wedding was the society event of the year with no expense spared. The groom chartered the steamer Princess Maud to take his guests, the Isle of Bute pipe band across to Castle Bellingham in Ireland for the wedding. Shots include the Bride greeting wedding guests, a large marquee in background. Men wear black suits and bowler hats and women wear white dresses. Kilsaran Parich Church before the ceremony with the wedding procession passing, including flower girls, Lady Bellingham and the Dowager Marchioness of Bute. Shots of Father Patrick Fagan and Father Frank Murtagh who took the wedding service. The groom John Crichton-Stuart with Lady Mowbray followed by the best man Sir Ninian Crichton-Stuart. Altar boys and the choir of St. Mary's Pro-Cathedral, Dublin pass wearing white smocks and holding bibles. We see the bride Augusta Mary Monica Bellingham with a veil and carrying large bouquet - on her father - Sir Alan Henry Bellingham's arm. There are four bridesmaids including the groom's sister Lady Margaret, Miss Ismay Preston, Lady Norah Noel. The Bute pipe band can be seen in background. Wedding guests after the ceremony and a view of hats and heads of crowds as they clear a path for the married couple and following guests including Lord Colum Crichton-Stuart at Annagassan - a fishing village. The bridal couple being taken out to steamer Princess Maud on a barge rowed by Bellingham retainers in white uniforms with Bellingham hunting horn symbols. She waves and he doffs his hat. The Marquis of Bute's own pipe band follows also in white barge.
Great footage but my god, what absolute bloodsuckers the Anglo-Irish landlords were: they treated the native Irish like vermin. The Bellinghams were just as bad. I heard a story from an old man in Castlebellingham years ago: he told me that half the people in Castlebellingham were related illegitimately as they used, to say to the Bellinghams, as the Lords Bellingham were known for using their power to have their way with the local women: if a woman refused, her family would suffer. Imagine if the locals in the footage didn't doff their caps to the married couple: they'd be out on the road or out of a job.
Fabulous photos and brilliantly edited but the music doesn't work: it's not subtle enough and dominates the visuals.
Wonderful, wonderful photos Larry and nice uplifting music too. Great show
Again great footage Larry but the music is seriously depressing, please change it.
Great photos Larry but the music is seriously depressing and does not do justice to them, would you be able to change it?
Really great idea for this great town
✌️✨
Absolutely fabulous.
Not a egroe in sight
I wonder does anyone have the № of King Bruce's builder - I need an extension doing and he obviously does good work if that boozer is still standing after more than 6½ centuries...
I was working in Dundalk recently. I thought I was in Nigeria
😁😁😁
Take off your seriously tainted glasses!
Fuck Dundalk. It's a hole . Full of peodifilesi. know I'm a victim of the redeemer church in cox's domain .
I come from there and I just want to hang myself when I think of the time it was socially.
Horrible aul place says I, but lovely people there
wow. thankyoui for posting these photos. Ive been doing family history and tho originally from Galway they had moved to Dundalk for a while in about 1891 (possibly on way to get a ferry to Liverpool) so its really nice for me to see the area in that time, Thankyou.
Ahhh! I love this video, brings back some great memories! Thank you.
Thanks for taking the trouble and time to upload. Well done yet again.
