Great tips!!

There was absolutely no context for these 'tips'. No mention of a promoter, booking agent, management... so for anyone who doesn't want to waste 6 minutes this is about as uninformative as it gets. Basically it is how to play at your local bar. Has nothing to do with actual booking processes or getting the attention of promoters, etc.

Cold emails with no introduction or ask sounds like a terrible way to get any business doing anything.

Good video. Kinda crazy how slow you speak though. I sped the vid up to twice the speed and it became normal. I totally forgot that it was sped up. It was like you could speak normally.

I'm definitely going to apply these suggestions as I am guilty of both things. The lengthy email and video. I wish there was a different suggestion besides asking for an opening slot as most of the gigs I'm looking for are not going to have openers.

Great, lots of good insight in this video. It sounds like emailing about a specific band and time, and asking if there are any opening is the best way to start the conversation. Subscribed and excited to learn more about booking shows and being in a band.

The Club manager wants ASSES in the seats that spend on drinks spend on food spend on desserts spend on after dinner drink spend on coffee ☕️ spend on tips for the waitress spend on tips for the bar tender and if you bring in one hundred and fifty people it should have been 300. And if you bring in 300 people it should have been 600 and if you bring in 600 it should have been 1200! Welcome to dealing with club management and playing gigs 🎸🎸🎹🎹🤣😂😃

Hindered of emails later and I still cant get a fucking response

Now covid had set in, and people are backed up too a year in advance some of them. so it's really hard to get gigs. Some places still aren't even opened

I sent one one time and just said we are a band that wants to play for you lol and i did get a reply for that one

In 2022 venues are not responding at all! not to emails and not to cold calls!! I'm at a loss here. and people are still scared of COVID :o and NEVER BEG lol I've done it all! I've been doing it all wrong, cause I do demand! What an eyeopener. I leave dates and music links? is that wrong

Great advice. When you say as a last tip, "Follow up with the venue" -- is that another email or do you recommend a call at that point? Thanks for helping.

I honestly think EPKs are stupid and unnecessarily bureaucratic nonsense. Free options like linktree are a thing now and people are still wanting artists to pay for an EPK and you only get taken serious if you have one. We need to move on.

Thanks for posting this. My band is just starting out. We had a venue (neighborhod association) that wanted to book us to play for a community event. They ask for our W9 and certificate of insurance to add us as a vendor. Not sure what business structure to set up since we aren't a full time band by any stretch. maybe 4-5 gigs a year is what we will do.

Hi! Your videos are great! I have no experience booking a gig at a venue and would love to start trying! Is it an unusual thing to book a solo gig and sing with your set up and no instruments? I would even just do it as a volunteer in the beginning to get the experience. Also, if you don’t know the contact info of the people that actually book the gigs would it best to just email the restaurant or place?

I'm planning on starting up a group to perform and immediately had so many questions about the logistics. I'm not sure we would need an LLC quite yet, but I definitely want to start off on the right foot. what i gathered from this is to start up the group, get it going, practice, and look for gigs THEN set up the LLC when we are ready and established. very helpful video thank you!

I am much more interested in subscribing or following you if you put in that plug at the end ONLY. You provide great value so all the "subscribe/follow" propaganda looks line neediness and that is unattractive. 2.I've seen a few of your videos and your production has gone up SUPER fast! congratulations, I hope this works out for you! I think your content will get even better as time goes on so keep it up, people need to hear what you are saying, I need to hear what you're saying. make sure what you are saying is what is relevant to your audience (whats in the title) and not what is relevant to yourself (wether or not they subscribe). good people will gather around good content, yours would be 2x better with one self promo at the end and a lead magnet. I would love to hear more on this topic. are there record labels that an artist can sign to without being screwed? if so who are they? what should an artist avoid? what should an artist do to attract the RIGHT record label? should an artist go indy? what are the pros and cons of being an indy artist?
