You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go - Bob Dylan Madeleine Peyroux cover

I fell in love with this Madeleine Peyroux song only to discover that it's actually a Dylan cover. Who knew...
Critical Times - Quarterflash (short cover)
Просмотров 3354 года назад
These are critical times indeed. Thusly this song happened to pop into my head. Although the original is more about a relationship on the rocks, I borrowed the sentiment of urgency and applied it to the insane & precarious times we live in now.
Kick around bass riff # Gajillion-6

It’s been awhile since I’ve played - shaking the dust off thrashing on this fun surfy riff thing.
Cancer Map - Bliss
Просмотров 2388 лет назад
Cancer Maps indeed do exist. A Cancer Map is exactly what it implies - a map outlining the kinds of cancer that people are most likely to get depending on where they live. It's not just the companies who produce products which cause cancer that know it goes on - it's also most insurance companies and realty agents. If you want to be informed on issues that affect your health, Google "Cancer Map...

from the Australian movie 'Bliss', director Ray Lawrence and producer Tony Buckley discuss the Cancer Map scene, and the objection they dealt with coming from insurance companies who preferred to keep the existence of Cancer Maps hush-hush.

Walker - I Want To Hold Your Hand (Bass and Voice)
I was playing the drums on my lap to go with your riff.😄
HA! Nice! Record a kit!
Nice Sir Paul Ric.
Sick tone!
Thanks!
SOund is poor and crapi looking with mixed and lack of sound.
Agreed. Just banged it out on my iCrapPhone. Check out my newer vids with the nicey-nice mics.
Guy sounds like Layne Staley
Undeserved praise, but thanks!
Such amazing music
Absolutely. Awe inspiring.
My vocal range it's D2-B6. I'm 4.5 lol. Almost 5 octaves
As with your last video, I was simultaneously thinking that Nirvana might have loved to use that melody in the early 90s, and also I heard echoes of Chris Squire. Now to dust off my own Ric and start jamming...
I'll gladly and modestly take the compliment in the shadow of two of my favorite bands!
I'd happily buy an album of this 😁
Thanks! I'd better dust of the 16-track! In the meantime, please enjoy the quickie-vids for free!
Question: how do you palm-mute with the mute assembly teeth in the way when picking behind the bridge pickup? Always wondered how Squire pulled that off too.
You get used to muting with the left hand
Cool looking lefty, long time admirer of your playing, first time I'm the first to comment.
Thanks for the comment! Late responding. I suck at that.
Damn Mark. Killer tone brother! THE quintessential Ric tone. Keep up the great chops.
Thanks man!
Excellent playing and wonderful tone! Question: can you bend the strings when the horseshoe is on? My Lollar Horseshoe pickup won’t reproduce sound if the string is just a bit over the polepieces. Does the original Rick Horseshoe have that festure?
Hey - good question. It's a problem with a lot of pickups with the button top poles. The '68 & Frankenbass have flat panhead screws for poles so the proximity issue is a lesser factor, while the '64 has the bobbin style screws so that comes into play just slightly, but it's not an issue with my basses. What I did is lower the pickup(s) way the F down - that way they're not as proximity-sensitive and I get a more even dynamic response. Just compensate your gain at amp. Easy peasy.
Excellent riff and tone!
THanks man!
Very nice!
Thanks!
Enjoyed ( and learned from ) every note. Thank you !
Thanks man!
@@MarkWalkerMusic Yes Sir ! Play on, good fellow !
🔥🔥 sounds fucking great man!
HA! Thanks man!
I’m dying to know too! I can’t seem to get my newer 4003 to sound anywhere near that clear.
That was gooood! And the tone is amazing 😍
Thanks man!
rm1999!!!!
Reprazent!
Awesome stuff. Keep it comin'.
Thanks man!
This is the greatest Ric sound I’ve ever heard, so close to Squire’s tone! What amp settings/other gear was used to achieve this tone??
Squire really tapped into the sonic potential of those old tube amps.
Fantastic as always Mark!
Thanks, Juan!
Such a wonderful sound! Amazing as ever Mark 😁
Thanks Ben!
This guy is teally very good ..I'm busy jamming to it right now👍
"REALLY" very good that is...
lol! Thanks man!
My range is Bb2-C#7
Good stuff
Thanks Ryan!
Dude…. Please sell me this bass. I’m left handed, I’ll take very good care of it and I promise I’ll aggravate the shit out of you until you do.
lol! Sorry man!
Don't know what happened in the Khatru part with the FX but brilliant otherwise Thanks for posting
Amazing!! Never heard anything better before.
Thanks Ben! That's some high praise!
fantastic tone and performance!! amazing. could you talk about your rig on this track?
Thanks, Thiago. Sorry for the late response; I haven't been very internet savvy, but am posting more again. The bass is a '68 4001 - it has a super tight neck radius which makes it a breeze to play. I'm using an SWR head. These tube-preamp heads are great. I A/B'd the SWR with a Trace-Elliot, and there was no contest - while the TE was super tight and punchy, it was pretty sterile for the Rick bass. I then plugged into the SWR and the bass just sang. Fucking sweet. I'm using a Hiwatt 4x12.
Dude, I have this bookmarked and listen to it from time to time. And evertime it is AWESOME!. Thank you so much for posting it. YOU ROCK!
+Crockette Serino Thanks, man!
Mark!!! Wow!!! You're nailing it!! Tone and Technique!! Awesome!!
Thanks Willy!
Super. Very impressive Mark
Mark, you are truly outstanding, and your tone is to die for. Wholly cow! What preamp(s) do you run? Do you utilize the ROS, or just run mono. Thanks brother!
Well, you shred on bass and you can sing too?! Awesome vids. Keep it up.
+Marshmanification Thanks, man!
Dude, are you self taught?
+άνθρωπος.of.камня Yes - with a very specific goal in mind. I'm modeling my tone after some of my favorite rock singers - Chris Cornell, Carl Anderson, John Lawton, Roger Daltrey, RJD... basically hard leads. It's a narrow focus, and I'm learning from these people by listening carefully. I've also benefitted from other "local" singers who have posted instructional videos, specifically Derek Reno and Dan Formica. Check them out - they both have their own RUclips channels and give good tips.
MarkWalkerMusic Thank you m8. One more question; Did sirens or some other technique helped you for high notes?
+άνθρωπος.of.камня Yep. I do sirens every time I warm up. I do them as low as I can, too. They help both high & low range.
+MarkWalkerMusic Another thing I recommend is taking lessons from a vocalist who excels in the style that you wish to emulate. I've taken lessons before that were a waste of my time because the instructor was steering me in a direction that wasn't my area of focus.
MarkWalkerMusic This guy Dan Formica shoved some sirens and scales, i think that's enough for ''finding'' mix right? Because everyone who actually shoves you ''high note techniques'' is using sirens...
Four octaves is amazing, especially considering one of the best "only" had a range of a little over 5 octaves. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yma_Sumac
I saw Yes many times in concert in the early days. Chris Squire was an amazing bass player. You did him proud. Great Job.
+drrshor Thanks!
Great cover dude! question is the Ric worth all the money?
I'd go used on the Rick basses. The older the better. And you can usually find them on the cheaps used, too.
I have known & loved this song from when I was all of 15 years old (back in 1979). Thanks to your great performance I have finally discovered the beauty of the bass track. There are more and more 'isolated tracks' of Chris' bass contributions to YES music on RUclips. They are thoroughly enjoyable. And it is fantastic to see how you, as a bass player, pay a fine homage to Chris's legacy.
Thanks, Michel!
Wow!! Great Tone, and all them "Fish" Scales, excellent! Hope you don't mind if I borrow your performance fingering to TRY and complete my Bass Tab of "America"? Thank You for your post, it is definitely a great study in Bass Guitar Stylings... Damn, talkin' about the Abstract, outside the Box, etc!? Nailed it!!
+Sal Benvinato Thanks, Sal! Sure; go ahead and use it as you find it useful. (y)
awesome to see a new video, always fantastic
Thanks! (Belated) I'm finally getting around to posting more again.
Dude, your talent is amazing. You are a true monster on the bass. Hopefully one day the rest of planet earth becomes aware as well.
+RobNKriista Rowles Thanks, LT!
Well done, my friend. You are talented. Bravo. John.
You're really awesome. I'm 16 and I play bass as well. It's been only 2 years but I honestly can't wait until I get better so I can one day do some of the things you're doing.
+Nicholas Garlick Thanks, Nick! Keep doing what you love.
My range is f3-f6 so I'm 3 octives, Man U got that extra octive, rock it
Was doing this in high school on a 4001...awesome man.better than me!Love it.
HA! Thanks. Everyone has their version, it's all good!
Admittedly, it was always the guitar and drums that made me love this song, that is until I came across your video. Perfect job, brother man.
+Jack Minor Thanks! Much appreciated!
great cove,job well done.
