There are several scientific opinions on when to count a daughter cell as an individual cell. However, The American Society of Brewing Chemists (ASBC) recognizes budding cells as two distinct cells once the daughter cell reaches 50% or more in the volumetric size of the mother cell. Any less than this and the mother/daughter is counted as one cell. So the general rule is: Daughter cells are only counted if their area is 50% or more of that of the mother cell. If you’re doing the count manually, you will have to eyeball the size and make a judgment call.

Hello, we recommend using distilled water. If needed, you can also use high grade alcohol, soap or mucasol. But we would not recommend using chlorine as it would react with the plastic material.

A fluorescence microscope is not needed, when sample is stained with methylene blue or methylene violet. You'll need an Oculyze microscope with 400 x magnification (more information: www.oculyze.de/your-yeast), a standard laboratory microscope or a lab microscope with an external camera to take images for automated Oculyze system. I have a Bresser Biolux NV, would that work former or do I need to buy that new microscope?

Thank you for the heads up on this oculyze device . Is this just for yeast counting or can it be used to could other cells like blood cells?

Yes, the Bresser Biolux NV is compatible. In general, if the microscope has a C-mount or eyepiece with some of the following diameters: 30, 30.5 and 31.75 mm, the recommended external camera is compatible and supported by Oculyze system. The counting of blood cells might be possible but it is not officially supported

Hi, eine automatisierte Auswertung funktioniert aktuell nur für Hefen. Wenn Du die Bakterien und die Wimperntierchen unter einem Mikroskop mit 400facher Vergrößerung sehen kannst so kannst Du sie auch mit Oculyze sehen. Für welche Anwendung brauchst Du die Funktion?
