How to Install a Wireless Light Switch in Any Room (in 5 min)
hi i have 6 led recessed lights on a dimmer. all are working well except one which started flickering. do you think the one just needs to be changed out?
I was just doing my evening routine and suddenly boom. Lights out. Glad I had mobile data to access this quick video. Did everything by step, and while my issue is partially solved, now I know where to look. Turns out one or two , maybe 3 or 4 kitchen sockets are faulty and is tripping the RCD occasionally which is really annoying. Will be in touch with my housing agency to sent out electricians as I cannot determine the real cause. My kitchen appliances are all new, must be the faulty sockets.
Wonderful!
So it's not really replacing the smoke alarm then...
No, that's why the video title says "replace the smoke alarm battery"
Even if you don't have the instruction manual it's on the smoke alarm itself, you need look at that you might learn something 😂
you dont need to isolate, i just took it out and working fine
i only have red and black clour which positive and negative
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks I didn’t know that they came out that easily. Now I know how to replace mine..👍
Great to hear
Thank you so much, it works perfectly 😊
You're welcome!
This is a terrible video
is it?
Thank you so much. It works. Very clear instructions.
You're welcome!
Wow that is a terrible design for a smoke alarm. Here in the USA, the batteries are replaced from the front.
I understand but that's what we have in the UK
Thank you very much for posting this. Very clear and helpful
You're very welcome!
4 gang switch set up as 2 way with another. I want to add another switch to make it 3 way only a wirelesss one.
If you're in the uk you can use Mk or Click by scolmore grid switches to overcome this. Tou will have to change your existing 4 gang switch though.
Why would a wall box go faulty. Was there a burnt wire
Do these make the system safer for people?
What Socket type have you used as they all dont have a way to feed in from the back so you can extend the cable later? thanks
Must admit I am confused trying to replace a simple in and out (two wire) light switch which controls all the lights in a room. The remote switch is like yours and piezoelectric and does not require a battery but the receiver unit which I want to connect to the existing switch position has live load and live supply with what appears to be a common neutral together in the middle. I can of course simply put one of my existing switch wires as live load and the other as live supply, but this leaves the neutral unconnected, so how does the receiver unit receive power to operate? Or does it need none? I have no neutral cable in the existing switch socket and the neutral line of the lights is elsewhere somewhere in the circuit behind the walls. Any tips about this would be very helpful although I can try it connected as I suggested first. I just hope that is not going to short something in the receiver circuit.
Do you have access to the area above the light or within the light fitting itself? Wire it close to the light fitting and install it within an enclosure. You want to ensure none if the cables are showing single insulation outside the junction box or light fitting. It's very simple.
@@rayc1503 Thanks for the advice. In fact that is what I did eventually and I ignored the main switch in the room and instead put the wireless switch receiver in the circuit to the main light fitting. I just leave the main old switch in the room always on (I could just remove it of course and bridge it) and so the wireless switch is at the new doorway as needed. Great improvement. Thanks for your video.
Will my heater automatically reheat over night ?
Thank you. Really helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for making video it’s going to save me money and time
Glad I could help
Can you replace those with some smart light to operate with Alexa? What brand or models are they? Thank you
For those who can’t get it off, make sure you are pushing in the same direction that the screwdriver end is pointing. There is a little arrow telling you which way to push
Where’s the supply unit??
There isn't any. It's battery operated
Thanks, now is much clearer!
Great to hear!
Thankyou for this video- it helped me isolate the appliance that was causing me the issue!
You're welcome!
Thanks man. Tracked it down to faulty Xmas Lights.
Awesome! Glad I could help
What’s the cable size please?
Worked like a treat, thanks!!!
Good to hear. Thanks for watching
😮
Do you need to do any additional checks on the fuse board before installing it? For example, can the existing socket circuit support an extra socket? And is the total max for both sockets 13A? That is, is 3000W the maximum load combined? I have a single socket at the moment. This would save me additional costs in making the hole in the wall bigger to support two sockets and save a bit on electrician costs (Still wouldn't do this myself!)
Thanks dude, that helped. Atb🎉
Awesome 👍🏿
Thank you! Cheers!
do you have to turn the main electrical supply off before changing the batteries? Can you safely touch the wires without doing so?
You don't have to turn the main supply off since your smoke alarm shouldn't be hooked to it
@@excelelectrician this is dangerously wrong information depending on location some smoke alarms are mains fitted with a battery backup
Anybody else just hate the sound of the thing and want to remove the battery completely?
Wrong 😡 you should change back box🤦🤷♂️👎
Hi, thanks for your help. I have a question. I want to use my storage heater, but I'm confused about the peak and off-peak switches. - During off-peak, should I leave both switches on? - Over a day period, should I keep both on as I expect the storage heat to be used before peak energy? Thank you.
From my understanding, both switches should be on all the time
This really works. I just had to find broken fuse from multiple fuses and managed to do that in this way.
Yes it works
Brilliant 👍🏻
Thanks
@@excelelectrician i put a new thermostat in took less than 10 minutes and it worked perfectly if i had off knowing this id have did it sooner big thanks to you ❤️👍🏻
Can you tell me i have to reset my thermostat almost everyday why is this happening I have no hot water unless i reset it do i need a new thermostat ? Many thanks 👍🏻
Do I have to unsnap it from the cords to replace the battery or can I let it hang and just open the drawer to change the battery and then twist the smoke detector back on?
I don’t have a ladder. I’m using a chair that’s why I ask.
Where is your rcd fuse spur as it’s. Needed and very important
It's midnight and the one in my room just started beeping again. It was beeping some time ago, but I forgot about it. It is just hanging there, I don't from what from. I'm scared to touch it if I'll break it or press that button that makes the loud beeping sound. Dad is asleep and I don't want to wake him up because "My smoke alarm's battery is low" 😂 If I was my dad in that situation, I wouldn't be too happy 😂😂 Now I'll try to go to sleep. Luckily I am a heavy sleeper 😄
😂
How do I completely remove the part which is attached to the ceiling? I have 2 within a few feet of eachother which is completely unnecessary and looks messy. So I'd like to completely remove it to make my ceiling look cleaner Thanks
You should be able to twist it and remove the main part then unscree the base
Could u change just the lightbulbs?
Not sure what lightbulb you're reffering to
Brilliant video . Life saver
Many thanks
😂😂😂 a big thank you 🎉🎉🎉
My pleasure
@@excelelectrician I push there but i try left right...never away so thank you again 😁😁😁
Sorted my tripping problem. But, the “downstairs sockets” are tripped down but all working.😮
That sounds very strange
Straight to the point and very clear. Thank you
thanks
Useful video, I’ve isolated the problem to my “wall sockets” MCB, which is causing my RCD to trip. I’ve unplugged EVERYTHING from every wall socket but it still trips the RCD when I reset the socket MCB. Is there anything more I can do or does this need an electrician for any further work?
you saved my mom from taking a freazing cold shower
Glad to hear it 🔥
