Intro talks about using the breath in working with pain recovering from surgery. Main talk addresses "citta," mind or mind states from Anapanasati Sutta. This goes into different ways of defining the mind.

Drawing from Bhikkhu Analayo's teachings on Anapanasati (Mindfulness of Breathing). Exploring the difference between close attention to a meditative object and a more open awareness. This is preceded by a very personal reflection on the evolution of my own practice. What I've learned: "Just don't stop."

Reflections on crisis in our country, and further the struggles that all nations face. Looking at all of that through the lens of "greed, hatred, and delusion." If we don't look at this through the lens of dharma, we can be crushed by all this.

Are you the therapists from Ireland?
It's still precious 💕 yes thank you 🙏
Hi Dear Kevin Sir, I hope you are doing well. I am a RUclips video SEO expert. I was analyzing your RUclips channel. I am really impressed by your videos, but your RUclips channel has some issues. You have made many videos, but your RUclips channel is not getting as many views and subscribers as expected. Because you have no complete SEO for any videos, no channel tags, and no video tags, if you SEO your videos, your subscribers and views will increase, and your channel will grow. Your video quality is very good, but the channel is not increasing due to not doing video SEO. By doing video SEO, the channel grows faster. I can help you if you want.
My man! Thank you for the Dharma Talk my dear brother
Thank you 🙏 Great exploration of faith
Thank you for uploading these! Intent to go through them all in the coming week. Grateful for the books of yours i've bought thus far.
I cannot leave an offering at this location, on RUclips. I will try to figure it out.
I cannot sit for 20 minutes! I'm old!
I am guessing that you are having a medical challenge that I was not aware of previously. I will give it some thought.
Regardless of my intention and focus, the dog wants to play. I did not want a dog, but she is awesome. I am reminded of the story of the tea boy.
"The function of prayer is not to influence God, but rather to change the nature of the one who prays.” - Soren Kierkegaard
Such an interesting topic 😊
Thank you 🙏
Thank you so much! ❤
Thank you 🙏
Love this video. Have been using it primarily as a meditation assist. One note, this particular video is interrupted by ads about every 5 minutes or so. Makes for a challenging meditation sequence!
What a wonderful talk and really insightful way to view how we bring the four noble truths into a meditation practice. 38 years of shared practice and knowledge right there. 🙏🏼 Sadhu Kevin
Thank you for this. I appreciate the craving comment as a former smoker who stopped 5 months ago. That was a great illustration of watching the craving arise and pass.
Hi Kevin will these hybrids be available recorded S I’m in the UK. Many thanks 🙏🏼
What a Gem this man is
Yes don't panic. I keep having to learn that over and over but it is lovely to be able to notice the panic and deal with what is. Thanks for the reminder 🙏
Excellent guided meditation
Long answer…no. 🎉

Thank you 🙏 it sounds so easy but so hard to really do. The open your eyes when you locate a thought very helpful 😊
Concentration on breath as not the point. I am really happy I understand that 😂
Yikes! Lots of good stuff 🤯 Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Kevin We are all gifts to each other 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Kevin. I am glad to hear that again. All good stuff 🙏
Thank you 🙏 good exploration
Not sure if you heard of Gene Keys but your talk reminded me of this bc it's one of my gifts. Gene Key 33 Forgetting - Mindfulness - Revelation “This Gift can turn the whole of our life into a blaze of presence and peacefulness. Retreat does not have to be something we do after we’ve been in action. The retreat can be in the action itself. That is a Gift from heaven.” - Richard Rudd, 64 Ways
Hello how can we implement Buddhist teaching when most of the 12 steps talk about God. God isn’t present in Nichiren Buddhist faith and I’m struggling with giving my power over to some outside entity. I left the church for that reason and have been on this path for much longer I do not beleive I’m powerless without a God. Can u express or explain this deeper and how I can apply the 12 steps so I can recover
Please read Kevin's book One Breath at a Time: Buddhism and the 12 Steps
Yes very helpful I look at in the way that some of ot will stick and some will be more clear as time goes on. Just love how you share this work with us in your own unique way. It brings me joy 🙏
Wow great stuff 🎉
Thank you for these three years 🙏 It is of great benefit to me in so many ways
Thank you This really clicked for me 😊
🙏 naming and not naming, sounds good thank you

Thank you very much for these insights, Kevin. As someone who has struggled for many years with anxiety and depression - and who finds herself throughout the day at either one pole or the other, your reflections really hit me. Although I found some sporadic relief from the suffering through my participation in CBT, I always felt a negative resonance below any of the positive counter-thoughts I used to combat the negative self-talk. This sick and unpleasant feeling inside always seemed present - and, although I could become mindful of it, I couldn't move it even a little bit. As a long - time meditator the seeming permanence of this negative feeling caused me to have doubts in the teachings, and in the Dharma as well. These doubts manifested as a narrative in my mind about the uselessness of spiritual practices in general, and I consequently started to believe that I was just fundamentally weak-spirited and broken inside, and lacking the energy that could help me break free. Until your talk, I was never able to see that I already have an abundance of vital energy, albeit, energy that is locked up in the negative narrative contents, which are themselves being generated out of a feeling-tone that I mistakenly believed I could talk myself out of. I really appreciate how you approach the enlightenment factors - specifically the first 3 - as a dynamic process of self-liberation, which I must put to use in real time in order to move beyond the mere awareness of the fact that I'm miserable. It's not enough to just be mindful of the unpleasant feelings, but to go beyond the conceptual awareness, into the experience of the body as it is gripped by these negative mind-states...and from this opening to experience, to the exercise of self-compassion, and from there, to the reflection on the impermanence of all energetic formations. The last week or so, I've been using this more dynamic, 'real time' approach to unlocking this blocked energy - and I find it actually helps - a lot! By practicing in the way you've outlined here, I have experienced the possibility of freeing myself from my mind. I've got a long way to go...but your reflections have definitely given me a big boost of confidence that I'm on the right path. Thank you for this!
Thank you 🙏
Like Dan, How to we get signed up for the zoom meetings? the one Buddhism and the 12 steps.

@@kevingriffin3893 Thank you Kevin. A friend of mine did a zoom retreat with you recently and will be at the March in person retreat.
Thank you 🙏 Broadening the awareness, really good 👍
We are so lucky to have alternative recovery in the 21st century. I study your book Buddhism and the 12 steps and I love it. Yet I still can not stomach AA and the god talk and then the lords prayer. I have been in recovery 32 years and sober for 30 of those years. LifeRing, secular aa and recovery dharma zoom meetings are my peeps. So many of us would have just dropped out of recovery if not for these alternative recovery programs. I have all of your books, thank you Kevin. I tip my hat to you and the fact you can go to traditional aa.
Very helpful thank you 🙏
Thank you 🙏 very helpful to know you don't have to be in retreat for your life to find help in the teachings as you are able, reassuring
When and where are these found live? I'd love to attend. TY for your service.

Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you Walt and Kevin Beautiful I needed to hear that again 🙏🙏🙏
This might sound weird and not to be disrespectful in any way but you mentioned you are writing a book. Do anymore books need to be written about Buddhism , seriously hasn't it all been said? Anyone have an opinion.
