How to use the Dry Brush Technique to make Model Jet Exhaust with a Realistic Finish
Просмотров 5 тыс.Год назад
In this episode I will show you how to use Tamiya XF-1 Flat Black and Model Master Chrome Silver to achieve a VERY realistic scale model jet exhaust finish. I used this technique on My Tamiya F-4B and that one to a first at the IPMS Nationals. I don't say that to toot my horn but rather to drive the point home that the technique works and works very well. Give a try and let us know how it works...

Excellent, it looks fanastic. much better than metallic paints., i`m new listener to the ModelGeeks podcast and just heard abou the YT channel. I`ll try this technique on my current Growler build.
Which 3D decal manufacturers IS the cheapest ?
Can you do a video about how to stick the brass "etched" parts to plastic, please? I've tried about 8 different sorts of glue and every single one fails utterly.
The "problem" with these sets is that after installing them onto your models, your looking at your photo etched seatbelts and go: " what the..?!?" So you end up installing HWG one's and than you are looking at your drilled out plastic mg's and go: " what the!".. And end up buying brass barels.. And so on 😂
Great video, thanks!
Thank you. Great video.
The chief of Quinta Studio is an ardent supporter of Putin and his war. So I personally prefer the products from Red Fox or Kelik over Quinta Studio products.
I'm very curious about how they manage to do this. Is there a special printer?
I dare say that the cockpit tub that you was working on is a fa-18c hornet?
Excellent tutorial! Using PVA glue and water mix is a great tip. Thanks! I subscribed.
Ordering kit and LP paints as I watch. Will be my first 1/72 kit and first non WW2 Airplane kit. Looking forward to it. Now to find a video on tinting canopies.
Great review!
Is there a method of contacting the 2023 Convention presenters who provided a great presentation about painting Naval a/c? I've attempted to acquire their presentation outline, to no avail.
😥 'Promo sm'
This is so cool. I can't wait to see the crossover into the automotive modeling community. Thanks Darrin for sharing this.
Thought ya'll would be interest to know that your question has been put up to the RUclips modeling community and I'm sure a lot of videos are about to go up
Chaparral 2D, Mazda 787B, Sauber-Mercedes C9, Honda RA-272 and finally a Piaggio P.108B.
So nice to see inexpensive and widely available tools like Elmers glue have a place in modeling
Hey, looking forward to you guys inserting some pics of the models, tools, workshops, or ... GEEKS!!!! Side notes: 1. I too am going to build my OLD Hase Mavis w a white tail and green crosses. 2. I have pics of a demonstrator F-16 two seat on display in Dallas, let me know if you want the pics. 3). Your seminar at NATS is up against the tour of the private aircraft collection. DAMN! Keep the water out and the beer in! Don in Texas!
These 3D printed cockpit details are perfect for old ESCI and Revell aircraft kits that never had any details in the cockpit, old Hasegawa kits like the Fuji T-1A don't even have a cockpit whatsoever, an aftermarket set is long overdue for that one!
I didnt know you have a youtube page!
Sorry, I will NOT be buying anything that comes out of Russia till the war is over. I feel VERY strongly that not one single penny of my money will go to their war coffers.
Nicely done D-Ran! Liking these little tidbits tips. Great info especially the what not to do's 👍 Keep em coming. ☕🐢
Hey buddy - great video thanks for sharing, about to use these for the 1st time, very helpful, cheers Liam
Stunning! That’ll look amazing. It’s a shame there aren’t two nervous crew members in the kit with the option posing the ejection handles pulled.
Nice kit! Should be a big seller. The recessed facets around the gear doors are on the actual jet. They’re painted white. I love the fact the weapon bay doors are moulded closed...Way too complicated at 1:72. If you want more detail, get their 1:48 scale kit. I used to work on these aircraft and I can’t fault the Tamiya kits in any way.
I was hoping for a weapons bay. Italeri managed it on their kit, so I was hoping this would essentially be a scaled down 48th kit with the weapons bay included, but I'm sure it'll build well being Tamiya regardless.
Great review. Just ordered one after watching.
Brilliant stuff, D-Ran.
Awesome!!! Hope the Ukraine gets a lot of sales and exceeds their forecast. Fingers crossed that manufacturers take notice and produce a full F111 ~ 1/32 kit.
Thanks for sharing!!!
Just put on my first set of quinta this weekend. In my opinion really make a dull Jeep model pop a bit. I'll be ordering more. Wish I'd have seen this first because I did sand dash and lights flat so was guessing as to where to replace. Good tip and thanks for the tutorial and love the podcast.
Great review Darrin, looks like an awesome kit. 😊
Great review. Looks like a nice kit
What a cool work space D-Ran!
Nice review Darrin, this one will be on my list. I noticed that for the outside of the nozzles there is only a color call-out for LP range and not for XF?
Keep the vids reviews tips and tricks coming love all the geeks content.. cant wait for more..👊🤘
Hey guys love listening to the podcasts on Spotify and i would love it if you could provide video of you guys chating here (if possible). So we the listners could see you guys talking shop instead of just listening. I think it would make it feel more like being a part of the channel.. and more involved like being in a club discussion for us that aren't able to be involved in a local club.. just my thoughts..
I agree.
Cant seem to get the model masters chrome silver in Australia any other ideas??? Looks awsome and i would love to try. Only thing i can think of is tamiya enamel chrome silver on xf 1.. if anyone has tried this how'd it go..??
I've used Tamiya LP lacquers and they worked well for me
Love the tutorials D Ran, Keep them coming..
Nice review, D-Ran! Looks like an excellent kit. Thanks for posting this and I look forward to seeing more on this channel...which I just subscribed to!
