    Have you managed to find out whether they have implemented a fuel gauge into the new electronics cluster (in addition to the cruise control and turn-by-turn navigation)? I've tried looking at the early vids/their homesite, but it still seems to be missing :/ I've been contemplating between the M1000R and the Streetfighter, hoping this Panigale upgrade will lead to the Streetfighter getting these goodies aswell. But I also have started thinking about the Panigale too.. since this will have these upgrades by 2025 :) How do you find your Panigale in road use? Thanks for the cozy video :)

      @tsarnevits that's a great question and definitely one I'm interested to know as well. I'm going to the duc dealership tomorrow so I'll ask and see if they have any early info. The panigale is a difficult choice for a daily rider. While the body position is perfect for aggressive riding (it so easy to lean over and get your chest and arm on the tank when in a hanging off position), it's pretty aggressive for normal street duty. My aprilia is quite a bit more comfortable for street riding. That being said if I could only ever have one bike, this would be it even if it meant I had to deal with some occasional discomfort. Thanks for watching. I really appreciate it!

      @gonviiiii I'm glad to hear to hear that you like the exhaust. I have the SC project CRT. The stock exhaust in my opinion sounds good but just too quiet. The crt sounds awesome but it is very much on the loud side. The SC1-R exhaust is a pretty good middle ground if you don't want it really loud. If you track the bike the CRT isn't always super track friendly. Because it's so loud. A lot of tracks have noise limits now days. After 2 years I still love the rs660!

    While the new design has to grow on me, I completely understand why they went through with the changes they made. Another perspectives is realizing that this is the base design of the new generation. It will only get better such as the 18 model only got better throughout the years. At the end of the day the looks are subjective and you honestly need to be an amazing rider to be able to squeeze out all the performance these bikes have to offer.

    • @Knoxvillemoto

      Yeah, I'm with you. I do think it will grow on me. I'm not sure I will like it as much as the 24, but you're right. I don't like the look of the 18 as much as the 23-24. Hopefully, this design will evolve in a similar way to the current gen. Ducati has never been afraid to push the boundaries, lol.

    Sounds like you enjoyed the day. The instructors basically try to ride on the race line in the morning so that people know where to be in the afternoon. I know that it is quite overwhelming your first few track days with so much information to process. I'd suggest printing out a track map and make notes to help with the race line and when to shift up or down with gearing. Talk to an instructor about one or two areas you're really struggling with and work on those areas. The track is like a big puzzle where every thing should ultimately come together in harmony. But it is difficult to work on it all simultaneously, so break it up into smaller sections. Regarding Champ school, I'd talk to people who have taken it and ask about when they would recommend taking it. I only say this because I know it is pretty pricey and you may get more out of it after you really have the track fundamentals nailed down. Just my $0.02.

    • @Knoxvillemoto
      @Knoxvillemoto 21 день назад

      @palerider6611 Oh yeah, it's so much fun. I will definitely take your advice and put together a binder with track maps for each track I go to and notes on each. It's wild how when your following the instructors it seems so easy (because your just following their plan) but it gets so much harder when you have to execute your own plan without them as a reference. Hopefully, a notebook to write down notes about lines, reference points, road surface, and other info will help put together the plan a little faster. I also have a lot of skills that I really need to focus on. Things like first and last 5 percent of inputs and being smooth on inputs. I have a bad habit of closing the throttle too quickly and upsetting the suspension. I'll definitely talk to some folks about champ school. I'm trying to learn as much as I can not only to get quicker but also to be a safer rider as well so I'll take all of the help I can get. I feel like I learned a lot last weekend at little tally and so hopefully I can apply that towards labor day at barber. Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it!

    Ducati did it for faster track times but probably less than 1% of their customers use the bike on track. Most just use it on sunday rides. If the 2025 model doesnt sell as much as the 2024, the single swingarm will return

    • @Knoxvillemoto
      @Knoxvillemoto 22 дня назад

      Yeah. I completely agree. I was just at the track this weekend and saw one or two ducatis there out of all of the bikes, and one was owned by the event organizer. I left mine at home because I don't feel I have enough experience to really ride that bike on track yet. The single sided swing arm is definitely a gamble for sure. I applaud them for taking the risk and trying to push to boundaries, but I'm not sure it will work out in the long run.

    I’m really inspired by this! I am 42, had my motorcycle license for 12 years, and just never got a bike, mostly from pressure from my family. I’ve thought about getting a bike lately, but I don’t want to get a “starter bike,” but I am reluctant to buy the Ducati that I want, because I worry that I will lay it down. I live in Knoxville, too. I drive many of the same roads that you ride. I want a Panigale. Is there an area in Knox that you recommend for an inexperienced rider to be able to get practice and experience on? How did you get started…did you get your license and just hop on a bike, or how did you get started?

    • @Knoxvillemoto
      @Knoxvillemoto 22 дня назад

      It's awesome that you're trying to follow your interest. I can certainly understand the balance of responsibility to family, with your responsibility to yourself to do things that you enjoy doing. Based on what you've said, I suspect you fall into the category of people who would be able to start on something bigger than a starter bike. I don't know if you've checked out any of my other videos, but I touched on a few of these things, including when I bought my panigale with a years worth of experience. I will say that I would recommend something like the RS660 over the panigale as a mature persons starter bike. The first time you come into a corner just a bit too hot, there are more things to figure out than a similar situation in a car. If you're on a much faster bike like the panigale, you're going to have fewer of those precious seconds that you need to get it sorted. I started out by taking the msf course and then buying a bike. It was at the end of covid, and there weren't many bikes in stock, so I ended up just ordering the RS660 from the factory and having it shipped to my house. I have a video of my first ride on it. I never hit over 25mph, and you can see that I am super super shaky and unsmooth. I started out just in my neighborhood and worked on getting it moving and taking turns. Eventually, I took it out on the road outside my neighborhood and got up to 60 mph. Before each ride, I would make a plan and stick to it religiously. You typically make the plan when you're thinking very logically and that logic sometimes goes out the window when you get on the bike. I took the bike to a track about 8 months into riding. I would highly recommend doing this. This is where I learned what really makes a bike turn, stop, lean, etc. I took a ton of baby steps along the way, and I'm still learning. I will have been riding for 2 years, come the 22nd of this month, and I'll am currently getting ready to drive back to knoxville from my 5th track day. I'm more in love with bikes now than I've ever been, and I can't recommend it enough! Many of my other videos talk a lot about some of these things in more detail, so I encourage you to go watch some of them. Also, if you have any other questions or thoughts, feel free to reach out here or on my Instagram page as well. Hell, if you want somebody to go with you to the dealership when you buy your first bike, let me know. Seriously, I'll go with you if I'm available. I love bikes and the bike community, so anything I can do to help. Let me know.

    If you configure a 2025 V4 with carbon fiber winglets the picture shows that they are still screwed into the fairing. Hopefully that means they can still be swapped without replacing the whole fairing.

    • @Knoxvillemoto
      @Knoxvillemoto 24 дня назад

      Yeah, I think that is the case. That's makes me feel a lot better about the new bike. If you had to replace the whole fairing over some small damage, that would really suck. Thanks for the feedback!

  • @brentbartley6838
    @brentbartley6838 25 дней назад

    I've looked at some closeups of the new V4S (Robb Report has some good ones) the new winglets are NOT part of the fairing. Color matched and they have a molded flange that fits into a recess in the fairing and probably are bolted through from the inside. So they are replaceable separately.

    • @Knoxvillemoto
      @Knoxvillemoto 25 дней назад

      Yeah. Someone else pointed out that you can actually option the bike with carbon fiber wingless as well. I think that would help with the look of the front end a good bit. It is reassuring to know they are replaceable. Are you thinking about buying one?

      It's hard to say for sure without seeing it in person, but it sure does seem like it is more premium than a lot of other comparable swing arm designs. Also very functional. The top and bottom of the swing arm see the highest stresses from vertical loading and are responsible for most of the stiffness of the swing arm. Any portion of the arm that wasn't all that useful, they just got rid of.

    Nope. Ducati, like Harley, sells a ton of bikes based on emotion. The new one will, no doubt, be a better bike. The problem is, people want "sexy ". They probably should have sold an SP model with the double sided swing arm & kept the single for the masses of people that just want "sexy ".

    • @Knoxvillemoto

  • @derekp9155
    @derekp9155 27 дней назад

    Great overview of the major changes, agree with the reasons for these changes, mainly focused towards track use. As you said a majority of v4 panigale owners ride more on the road so for them is it going to be worth the change especially when the current model is more aesthetically pleasing. I recall when the 749 and 999 were released with the double sided swingarm, they were better handling bikes than the 996/998 but that didn't matter and sales dropped dramatically forcing ducati to bring back the single sided 1098 and sales boomed once again. Will history repeat itself ??

    • @Knoxvillemoto
      @Knoxvillemoto 27 дней назад

      That is a great question. I think ducati is fundamentally at odds with itself at the moment. They are absolutely dominating in motorsports, which has no doubt had a large influence on their sales. I can see why they might make the assumption that supremacy at the track translates to sales and why they would put their focus on track performance. But like you illuded to, right now, ducatis real niche in the market is producing a high-end luxury product that leverages its racing heritage and technology. The panigale really needs to be more than just a fast bike. It needs to be motorcycle art that is also a top performer. I don't envy their position. They have to try to be as fast as bikes like the S1K, with it's aggressive aero and advanced technology, while also being the best-looking bike on the market. That's a rough balance to maintain. I guess my question is, will people eventually come around to the new look, or will they say "well I can get a similar bike from another company for less money?

    its like the 749/999 when they came out. I hated the street version most people did BUT the Corse WSBK/BSB versions were gorgeous!! Seeing that made me build one. I bought a used 2004 749R and had mark build it to a Ducshop big bore with Corse engine valve and cam specs. The only thing stock on it is the dash and wheels. The 999F/999RS shared nothing at all with the street bike. Not one thing except maybe a few bolts. This bike might be the same. The WSBK version might look way better in race trim with go fast parts and a Pierobon designed swingarm. You know from the get go if Pierobon is making it then it will be billet aluminum not the cheap cast that is used here. And the WSBK Akra system will look nothing at all like the one you have been seeing for this bike.

    -No one on the street will ever come close to the performance metrics to notice any benefit between a single or double sided swingarm. And we talk about MotoGP but don't remember that the current street bike generation is currently the fastest bike in all series including WSBK. For the street rider the beauty of the single side is more rewarding and exotic, it's easier for maintenance and cleaning as well. Only in their series series will pro racers benefit from the double sided, and again, I'm sure it's faster but the current model is dominant already so with all the other tweaks they could have moved the bike forward keeping the single sided, but hey Ducati literally builds a race bike first so I get it. -The winglet although better integrated is still just a winglet and can be replaced as a single part separate from the fairing. -The fairings could have looked better designwise. The gills on the current model look cool and cohesive the new one has cuts angles and slits going everywhere. But that's actually how Ducati always made the fairings prior to the current model...ie rather ugly in detail. -I honestly love the new bike overall, it looks incredible from the front and in person will look very aggressive, everything else is a win, the dub sided doesn't look too bad, just not better than the single. -In the end I am still very happy and prefer my SP2 and if I had to buy one today I would not wait and still buy my SP2, but I cannot deny this is now a better bike, the previous one just has other aesthetic aspects I prefer, and for me a Ducati has always been about first the love and passion of the italian design, the new one now looks more japanese/bmw like and less "italian".

    Although I’m not a mechanical engineer, I am an aerospace engineer and I unfortunately do not like the double sided swing arm. Ducal says it makes things at the track easier but the majority of the people will not buy this but as a track only bike. I understand 6lbs is a big reduction but 6 pounds as a variable will mean nothing from the size weight of ridders. The only positive is the electronics package, I don’t know if that alone sways ridders to buy the 25 version. I wouldn’t be surprised if the value of the 24s go through the roof due to what seems a mass consensus rejecting the new model since it’s not aesthetically pleasing as the 24 model. Something tells me I better go secure a 24 model. lol rant over.

      @Knoxvillemoto 28 дней назад

      Yeah, i dont disagree. I mentioned to someone earlier. I would buy the new generation, but only if I could do so without selling my 24 to do it. I think that the largest significance of the 6 lbs is its location. The reduction of the inertia of the swing arm should have a significant effect on the suspension being able to "follow" the road surface better. Even more so if they were able to keep more of the weight closer to the pivot point. That being said, I've never had any problems with putting power to the ground or rear grip from the 24 model. I suspect that someone would have to be a much more skilled rider than me in order to really be able to extract the benefit out of the new swing arm. I am very interested to see what people think of the electronics package when they ride it. I'll be very curious to see how it sells. Thanks for your thoughts!

  • @2WheelsSometimes1

    I find it interesting that Ducati didn't do that with the last model. With the first Panigale, they got rid of the trellis frame for performance. Though KTM has proven in MotoGP that they are competitive with a trellis frame, over aluminum box section. I would have expected them to have gone single sided swingarm with the V4 when it launched. Maybe just make the R version double sided. But then, I don't remember anyone complaining about the Desmosedici being double sided.

    • @Knoxvillemoto
      @Knoxvillemoto 29 дней назад

      @2WheelsSometimes1 yeah, I think ktm has really pushed the trellis frame concept faster than most. I've heard it said that motogp bikes are typically much stiffer than road bikes but I think a lot of teams are coming to discover that compliant components can certainly be beneficial if excuted well. My guess is that the single sided arm stuck around for so long because it was so iconic, even after it had long since ceased to be functionally advantageous. It's fairly telling that no one runs a single sided arm in motogp (though there could be some sort of restriction that I'm not aware of).

  • @GGMM42
    @GGMM42 29 дней назад

    You said it yourself: "there are not many people actually racing these bikes, the vast majority of miles these bikes do are on road". So this raises the question, why did they focus so hard on performance aspects, in the detriment of styling and design? The vast majority buys a Panigale for how it looks, and it should look better at that price point, otherwise we'd all be riding S1000RRs or RSV4s.

    • @Knoxvillemoto

      That is a great question. If I were to wager a guess, I would say it has a lot to do with their recent dominance in MotoGP. A.) Thanks man I really appreciate the support and positivity. I'm planning to try to go back around labor day for their 3 day event. If you see me out there absolutely come say hi! It's always awesome to meet fellow 660 riders!
