Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans
Appreciate you posting. Funny how i came here for your famous Calliope video and here I am still a few years later, tuning in to enjoy your melodious piano playing. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, Sir!
LOVED IT!!!!
Its now the hold and background music where I work. I can't think of more circus or carnival like music. 🤡🤹🐒
Wonderful pianist 🙏 thank you!
Very nice.❤
I first heard of this instrument in Warren Zevon's song Tule's blues.
Sir, after the vocal ended and you played another chorus, I wanted to toss my cannula off my nose and jump from my chair and tap dance. Only I don't know how. But I was rocking with you in spirit.
Rover will be pleased to hear that no animals were harmed during this song. Nicely done!!
‘deed I do!!!!
Too cool!!!
👏👏👏
Was there someone before Helen Reddy?
your face is not your face is not your face around the curling carousel it twists in place to take from you and all the tattered stolen souls who sense of me is swollen and distended into nothing
" I mean, they say you can hear it from MILES away ... "
@@inker_monkey :Well… this does not operate off of steam, but rather air pressure, and lots of it! It can easily be heard about 1/4 of a mile on 1 pound of air pressure. I usually dial the pressure down at the house. Steamboats and calliopes designed for steam CAN be heard for about 3 miles on a clear day! An interesting side note: the inventor of the calliope- a Mr. Stoddard- envisioned the tuned whistles taking the place of church bells! For real! Thank goodness that the idea / application never caught on.
I bet people can’t even imagine that this instrument was given its name from one of the nine muses of Greek mythology.
Well the background noise is horrific but that's a fun sound :)
You should play the calliope in your garage again for RUclips
name of the first song pleaaaaase
@@Unami45 :I believe it is called “ Circus Days”
Awesome playing (and singing! I have no idea how you can do that without throwing your playing off...) Fantastic, fantastic...thank you for sharing!!!
Wow, you are an incredible player! I am enjoying your music so much! The 20s-influenced style is terrific and not many people play like this anymore. Thank you so much for sharing here :) 🙏
awesome instrument
🎹 👍 😃
Thanks Burnley - very enjoyable
👍👍👍
Do you have the name of these tunes or any sheet music them? Please let me know

My mom named me caliope I thought I would get bullied I didn't because I am named after caliope the name is Greek I was amazed
neat
Can we get another list of songs in the description of this video as well?
What're the songs that you've played? Name, author, year, etc…?
Jeez this is tasty. Well played
Love it!!!!❤
Loved a podcast, then i loved an instrument, and i was led here!
I just discovered that my younger roommate has never actually heard a calliope, only heard "of" them. Havinh such fond memories of smells of fresh buttered popcorn, cotton candy, and the unforgettable, magical and elusive sound of the calliope, I immediately typed "calliope" into RUclips, turned the volume on my phone all the way up, and clicked on this video. The look on his face was priceless. Halfway through the video he was dancing around the living room like my mom and I used to do when we'd hear them playing at the carnival. Never before hear the sound of a calliope, theres something magically transcend about it unique sound that instantly turns you into a little kid and has you dancing around with a smile from ear to ear. Thank you, sir, for bringing back such a wonderful memory of my mom and I, and for allowing me to introduce the magical sound of the calliope to the next generation. You are a true master of your craft, sir. Thank you for sharing it with the world. (Tips her hat to burnleyize cook) 👍🏻🎩💖
"The calliope crashed to the ground"
would you mind if I use this music for personal project?
man plays old proper, and the gas sound makes a nice hiss like the soundtrack on old nitrate film stock adding a layer of authenticity, even though its all digital, very nice....
He’s missing the monkey.
BRAVO, MAESTRO !
Waltzing Matilda rules son!
Beautiful ❤
This is what retirement looks like. :D Great playing btw.
Wow, fantastic! That's amazing. Why does it make me so darn sad? Oh well, it just hits me deep. Nostalgia, I guess. But I'm only 48, but it still does. Thanks!!!
Nice
The unique sound of a calliope is always like a powerful magnet for my ears. It's like Indonesian Gamelin Gongs...you can't mistake the sound, which is very hypnotic to Americans and pulls us along to see the amazing and the strange that these sounds promise to us. A sound we hear very rarely unless you grew up 3 blocks from Disneyland like myself
THIS is why you have the www
I would love to have all the royalties from that "corny" song.
I am listening to from Indiana 2024. Love it!
