12kg over what my Honda can tow. Back to the drawing board. Also the price is too much if what others here have said is true. Nice though.
Does it work well as one?
Just curious to know how you can keep VLOS whilst in your car?
Nice video. Which mount did you use for the camera? Did you need an adapter piece since the mount is a Go Pro? Thanks!
Ford ranger - saving fuel, did you say...
Great footage. Got friends heading there soon. Cheers😊
Does it have parking mode like normal dash cams?
Very interesting. I’d wondered about doing this. The only things are: 1. Power and trips longer than the battery capacity, 2. Heat. The X3 can power-off when it gets hot on long shots. I’d had that when skiing and the recording just stops half way down a piste, ‘apparently’ due to overheating, something it may be prone to for extended recording on a road trip and especially in Aus with all that sun on it. But _please_ let us know how it works 😊
But would it auto turn on and off as a normal dash cam?
I don’t believe so but the way I would work that mate is if you set the voice control to on and use it so you would turn it on once then say ‘start recording’ then when finished say ‘stop recording’ and ‘shut down camera’ etc hope that helps I don’t think it would replace a real dash cam but it’s very handy if you make RUclips videos and want to talk with a friend in the car you can get all the angles from one recording. 😃 hope it that helps good luck
how does it work at night
I’m not exactly sure I haven’t tested it to extensively yet I think I might do some testing over the next few weeks and see what it comes up with .. no doubt it’ll be different for any given vehicle like a van with no hood vs something like my 4x4 has a lot to see past .. I don’t think it’s the perfect solution for most cases but it’s a great one to use for when vlogging for example you can talk to all passengers and see out the windows to some extent cheers 🍻
I like your style, you so need more subscribers, well you just got one more
That’s so cool thanks man loved reading that 🍻 hope to post more soon
Hey mate really enjoyed this, definitely keep uploading. Glad it showed up in my recommended. What camera bag is that? I’ve been looking for a new one for a while.
Oh wow thanks man I really appreciate your comment I😄 .. I just saw one name on the outside of the bag that says Pro Master 😅 fits a heap of gear in it. Has been a pretty good fit I reckon gets heavy though when it’s loaded up haha thanks again hope to post again sometime soon 🍻
You’re awesome dude ❤
😁 Not sure why you said that but thank you very much made me feel awesome 🤩 cheers bro 😎
Nice video, however, wouldnt the video be upside down due to the way the camera is mounted?
Thank mate no the Insta 369 is self horizon leveling doesn’t matter how it held/mounted video is always right way up 👍🏽
Nice video, man! That's an awesome idea! I just keep wondering if I will be able to remember to start and stop it if I'm using it as dash cam. Or does it have a magic setting to do it for us? What about wiring the charger? Were you able to do it nicely? Thanks man!
Sorry for late reply mate I been flat out and not on my channel 😢 .. you can keep it charged with an external battery bank I wouldn’t want to leave it on all the time though I don’t think it’s good for that purpose I would set it up to voice recognition and just tell it to record and stop recording whilst on the road driving too
Looooool broski I gave you a like just for the Superman Jump at the start … keep being creative !!!!! love it
Haha thanks man that’s good to hear haha cheers 🍻
Loved the editing!!!
Thank you!! 🤩
That jump intro was so cool lol
Can this camera shoot with the screen off?
Yes adjusted in settings sorry for late reply didn’t see your question
can you just hook it up to the 12v and keep the battery charged? how is it in hot weather? i had one dashcam overheating so the battery expanded in size and an other one that just cut off recording when it gets to hot. also how long are the loop recordings depending on the settings and size of memory card of course, but an estimate? cheers
Are license plates legible even in strong sunlight? It's best to capture plates in the case of an accident.
Good question I don’t think the image is good enough to be legible tbh but because it’s recording sound you could always just say the number plate probably not the best cover but 🤷🏽♂️
Wish I could do this in Arizona but with the heat, no way. The X3 will just overheat. I do hope one day dash cams will have true 360 views.
You can fix the overheating issue by removing the camera and powering it via usbc cable from your car. That's what I do and works perfectly
Just stumbled upon your video out of nowhere. Your such easy guy to listen to and more importantly you kept me entertained throughout the video. Gr8 contint. Keep it up and make more vids! Subbed
Thank you mate appreciate your comment 😎
Love it
Hahah thanks for the comment I’d forgotten I made this video 😅😃
Thanks for doing the video, but there’s sooo much really important info missing that could have been included such as resolution to read a number plate. What’s the process for every time you drive - is it a pain to clip it into place, turn it on. Do you have to redo all the settings every time etc etc. If it can’t read plates, it’s nearly useless. If you have to screw it into position, do all the setting with each use, everyone will get tired of that before long. Can you just dedicate the 360 to just a front camera to save battery and/or provide better resolution to dedicate 1080 or 5k to one lens?
Wow you’re right !! There is a whole lot left out I will try better next time thanks for your comment it’s good constructive feedback that will help me improve 😎 🍻
Even police uses multiple cameras to record traffic, one dedicated to just capturing license plates, another for wide shots etc. There is no single camera for commercial use that can record clear plate numbers/letters and wide angle shots at the same time. Unless military started selling some to public😁 ( again, those have multiple lenses).
A LOT of dashcams cannot read license plates
Haha, I like your style, man. I'll check back
Great footage of the area thanks! I got penpals overseas I'll be sending these links to!
Very awesome 💯
Thanks 🤩
You don't need to cut that much at the beginning of the video, its more annoying than cool
Agreed 👍🏽 .. I’m teaching myself this stuff and I’m pretty new to editing so I’m just trying new things to learn 🤷🏽♂️ .. appreciate your feedback though cheers mate 🍻
Other than that, very nice video@@TJBMedia
I just got myself an X3 and I'm still trying to get over the fact that it doesn't need to be orientated for shooting. it can be in any position.. it just has to be present in the vicinity. its a an odd but awesome capability.
0:11 amazing effect 😀
😅 Thank you, nice to hear that 👍🏽
What's the name of the camera holder?
It’s called a go pro suction cup mount I have posted a link below in an earlier comment if you like to see 🙂
this is freakin bada55 - I just ordered this because of your video for my tv show. thank you - John
😃😃 Thank you for your comment mate . I hope it performs as expected 😎 I’ll be sure to check out your channel to see how it goes for you 😉
Just very quickly - Which mount did you get ? Link would be amazing.
Gday mate try this link hope it helps cheers 🍻 😉 gopro.com/en/au/shop/mounts-accessories/suction-cup/AUCMT-302.html
@@TJBMedia Thank you
@@TJBMedia Hello, the way you mounted it in your video, wouldn't the video be upside down?. Sorry if stupid question
does the loop recording work for 360 footage or just cropped footage?
Hi what are your tire specs and suspension lift? Did you have to do any other mods for the lift?
Gday mate, the tires are an all terrain Goodyear wrangler LT285/70R17 (Awesome Tire this my second set) fitted to a TUFF Custom alloy wheel +20offset, with a 3” lift on Tough Dog Suspension no other mods req’d 👍🏽 hope this helps 😎
Is there a way to plug it in the cigarette lighteror USB slot to have continuous power?
Yes there are the standard usb A to usb C cables that will go into a 12v socket with usb A outlets (Insta 360 is usb c port) I’m not sure how long the camera will continuously run for though, I think it would be better to run the loop 🔁 set at your specific time so you save filing up your micro sd card
@@TJBMedia Thank you
Honestly, some aussies are just too cool for this world!
Hahah I don’t understand this but thanks anyway 😅 lol 😎 🇦🇺
Well done mate!
Thank you for your comment 😃 I’ll keep trying cause this editing stuff is fun 🤩
This brand is new to me. Looks good.
What mount did you use?
The Mount is from GoPro and its a window suction mount
Put that steering wheel over here where it belongs!
😂😂 I wouldn’t know how to drive it then
RIght-hand drive is more natural for the vast majority of people given the fact over 90% of people are right-handed and it's safer to leave your strongest hand on the wheel while changing gears with your left hand.
Couple questions: 1. Heat - Summer - 2 hour drive@ 30 degrees C - how long before it shuts down? We drive an MX5 with top down (no AC) where avg. summer temps are 90F. 2. DC Power - 2-4 Hour drives. Anyway to constant power it? USB cable handle 12vDC from the car? Does the i360 overheat after 1 hour on constant on? 3. Looping mode.... be great to have the camera loop record. I'm looking at the Insta360 for dash cam but not sure how to address the three items above. Whats your experience been so far? The first two on the list could be show stoppers for me.
Ok so I’ve only had a little experience with this camera so far especially with use as a dash cam .. However I live in Queensland Australia and summers are hot and a 2 hour drive is basically just up the road for us 😅 .. I think to answer your question though yes it’s easily possible to run for this period of time in that heat BUT this is assuming you aren’t recording at 5.7k and all maxed out settings. I have tested this only at 1080p on loop recording set on 10min cycles 🔁 I had it plugged into a 20000 mAh power bank for approximately 3 hours and had no issues with it stopping.. I can’t really add anything further at this stage because it’s only just coming into winter here now and have not long owned the camera .. I think for use solely as a dash cam it’d be a bit of a waste though this camera is pretty awesome and editing it all has become so much easier now I’ve been through the process .. Hope this helps 😁😁
@@TJBMedia We bought one and have used it in the MX5 several times so far. Obviously, not designed to be a dashcam, for that better to get a dedicated solution that is optimized for that use. Using the 360 in the vehicle was easy. Just jammed the selfie stick between the seat and back trunk wall and no special mounting equipment needed. Just adjust height of selfie stick accordingly. At the moment the 360 is creating 29 minute file saves and then waits for you to manually restart. Probably a default setting (TBD). It's not over heated yet while in 360 record mode, which is good. The battery lasts about 45 minutes of recording in 360 mode before needed to be swapped out. Zooming into the video to view a license plate on a nearby vehicle is a non starter and that is on a clear bright day. So again, not the greatest for resolving details. So, far great for viewing scenery along your trip.
@@winddealer1 "Obviously, not designed to be a dashcam, for that better to get a dedicated solution that is optimized for that use" Is there anything better than the Insta360? Every dashcam I tried was quite bad (talking about video quality), besides that, I plan to mount that on my motorcycle, as GoPros freeze every now and then.
@@n03m9 You might have a point. I have yet to purchase a dashcam. But zooming the image to get a license plate when in 360 mode (during daytime) isn't going to be of much value sadly. The resolution in 360 mode is 5K/2 per lens which when zooming in is not very useful. Our use of the 360 is recreational verses utilitarian. If the MX5 were a daily driver / commuter vehicle, then I'd be more inclined to a dashcam. But for recreational use the 360 does the job.
@@winddealer1what’s “a non starter” mean??? Meaning it’s not an issues and can read number plates. Or it’s a no-go & can’t.
Sweet video! Exactly what I was looking for. So the 360 mounts upside down and you have the ability to flip the video for viewing? How cool is that!
Thanks mate 😄 … the video doesn’t need flipping because the horizon always remains the same, pretty awesome hey 🙂
@TJB Media I'm thinking I may try to use a suction cup mount to the interior side of the sunroof. That might be a nice perspective. I really wanted one for motorcycle safety.
Mate I reckon that perspective will be excellent definitely worth a try .. I’ve got a Mount set up ready to try for my moto now too I think I’ll do a video of that too 🙂
@tjb media thanks for this, very useful. Did you find the video out the back of your truck is useful. Cheers
@neil grant to a point it works as the resolution breaks down by the time you want to try grab a number plate etc but it will show 360 degree nicely if it’s positioned properly
wicked video mate ! well done ! 🛻📹🤙😎
You’re to kind mate 😅 Thank you anyway .. been out of practice of late to many other things going on .. looking forward to getting back into it though cheers 🍻 😜 see ya in the next video

why would anyone want a caravan with all those electronics on it. asking for trouble and costing you more for no advantage.
Just a heads up bro to not pull the legs out, if the legs are straight it will collapse hence being why the bottom caves in
