My cousin happened to be Malcolm Martin Cohen I believe to be the man in this video. He passed aw. ay on February 21, 2023. He’s a cousin of my dad whose name happened to be Dr.Stanley N Cohen. He still works at Stanford. I remember that Malcolm used to work for NASA. He was residing in Medford, Oregon with his wife when he eventually had to be hospitalized. I learned of his passing from my dad. Just wanted to let you know.

Dr. Baird was an excellent Chair of the Department of English, a superb lecturer, and a kind and authentic individual. I wish I had been able to take more than one course from him (back in 1989!).

I was happy when I found out about Suzanne about a year or so ago. Before her I found Kevin Annette who has many videos on the subject of Canadian residential schools and the power of the church missionaries to take land from the natives by force. Suzanne talks about returning to the roots of indigenous culture, unmolested by western eurocentric opression, to heal and rebuild native societies. I couldn't agree more. I would like to add the importance of physically rebuilding communities with native architecture to replace the substandard western production home that is prevalent on reserves. As a carpenter I see the attraction young people have to building trades and it could used as a component n a system of healing for some youth who are suffering from depression and apathy. It is human nature to take pride in building something by yourself and as a community. I was born in the northeast US but my ancestry goes to Ireland, France Germany, England etc. I have been asking people if it's right to return the land to the Abenaki. Most say no and those who said yes were not willing to give back the land they personally "own" and occupy. I myself don't own but do occupy Abenaki land. Financially I cannot do otherwise at this time. I am working on acquiring land so that I can return it. Having this goal has helped me to cope with my own depression and anger towards American culture that I once supported enthusiastically. The problems we have today took generations to manifest and will take generations to heal. It is encouraging to know the indigenous population is the fastest growing demographic in Canada.

Clearly Frances Widdowson, the woman proposing such a position is herself, quite insane, or at best, misguideded and unknowingly ignorant and suicidal. Its as if Europeans who visited Greenland should have forced local Inuit to adopt European methods, whereas the harsh reality is Inuits tried to teach the touriasts how to survive in Arctic conditions, and the arrogant Europeans ignored them and ALL died. Western civilization often brags about its great achievements, belittling Africans and indigenous people around the world for their backwards stoneage lifestyle ...

This doesn't even touch on acres and lives lost due to wild fires, hurricanes, droughts and floods. It appears you don't have to go far before finding crystal clear scientific evidence of a superior, far more sustainable, environmentally friendly practices and sane politics. Under what sane logic does anyone operate who suggests a completely insane political system that recognizes the ongoing climate catastrophes and still supports fossil fuels in a twisted suicide pact between oil, gas and coal corps and civilization should be the model adopted by Natives?

A debate on the topic with Steve Paikin, included a participant who suggested natives (not the tourist immigrants) should shed their antiquated, obsolete methods, traditions, spiritual and social values and change the metrics for measuring their quality of life to modern western values. OK, lets try that for 60 seconds and base our final decision on science and evidence. Ancient traditions dictate keeping rivers, oceans, forests amd deserts pristine, protecting the wild life therein for generations to come, while modern society has killed off 75% of insects and vertabrates, including pollinators critical to our survival and fisheries critical for a healthy planet.
