Valle Escondido Nature Reserve Hotel & Farm: Costa Rica (Monteverde)
Take a look inside this unique eco-lodge located near the famous Monteverde Cloud Forest. This Lodge is a hotel, nature reserve, and farm all in one. We stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed the scenic views and wildlife while exploring the well-maintained trails on property.
If you are looking for a lodge to see plenty of wildlife during the day this is a great option for you. Access to trails at night must be done with a guide and I highly recommend it! However, for anyone looking to go herping at night on your own this may not be the lodge for you unless you are willing to spend the money on guides every night.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this lodge to all nature e...

In 2019 Staci and I introduced my two aunts to Big Bend National park! We decided to hike up to the tallest peak in the park; a first time for everyone. Everyone made it to the top and Staci and I decided to do the bonus rock scramble up to the very tippy top of the peak. Enjoy!

The lodge is somewhat far from the nearest town (at least we felt it wasn't worth driving out for food) so plan on having all of your meals on grounds. We were able to keep food for sandwiches and other quick meals in a cooler (we did not have a fridge in our room) that we requested with our car rental. The restaurant on grounds also has very good food if you don't mind the price. As far as activities go, if you want to book any kind of tour through the lodge, I recommend doing it sooner rather than later because some activities do fill up quickly. Unfortunately, we were too late to sign up for a night tour with guides, so we trekked out on our own. Always bring a good flashlight when visiting a rainforest/cloud forest; the night life is amazing. Hope this helps

I usually recommended going after a solid rain event, but I've also found a surprising amount of snakes during very dry nights...go when you can go is what I say lol.

Cool channel ...I live in fort bend county...where were these snakes filmed? Can you give me some recommendations for roads where I can see some snakes ? Thanks

Sorry for the late response! These were mostly found on the roads around or inside the park. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to hook or move any snakes inside the park so take only pictures when you come across an animal. I really can't give out specific roads; there are a lot of good roads around the park. My recommendation is to just start driving around that area after a good rain and you should see things moving. The less vehicle traffic on the road the better and look for roads cutting through forest or prairie and less ag fields. Good luck!
