Doing so bring out the ability to recognize and control your tone as well as volume. Try it sometime. ...and the cool thing is he actually did learn to play upright. There is at least one video of him playing upright... Dolphin Dance if I'm not mistaken. What a talent. GREATLY missed.

That was spontaneous and heartfelt and most difficult to perform. Victor Bailey had some big shoes to fill replacing Jaco. Many african american bassist had a great respect and love for the innovations Jaco brought to the bass guitar. Victor Bailey himself is a stunning bassist with a great tone and wonderful chops. He will be sorely missed.
