change habits with a watch and a notebook

For my first video I wanted to talk about two of the things that have really helped me stay focused in my day to day life. Disclaimer: Your experience may vary. I'm not a psychologist, I'm just a guy on the internet. Let me know if you liked the video so I know if I should make more like it!
I liked the video, 1 suggestion I would make is to consider volunteering. The buddhists say thinking of others instead of yourself is the key to happiness.
What a powerful video! I retired a few years ago and I bragged about not having to wear a watch anymore. But now that it is my OWN time it is really far more valuable and this method would protect it Not to mention that at retirement you realize time is no longer your friend, the dirt nap is coming probably sooner than you think!
tablet kids discovering watches sure is boomer bait
I wear a watch daily and honestly cannot go without one now. The verdict is still out on the notebook tho
The Casio f91w is one of the best watches ever made. I remember during my time in “basic”, some years ago now, we were taking instruction from a Colours sergeant, who had done nearly 20 years in the corps. He told us he’d served in Iraq and Afghan, done time with the SFSG and SBS, had access to the best and most cutting edge kit that was around. He yanked the wrist of one of the lads and pointed to his Casio, and said “this is the best bit of kit I have ever used, nothing I’ve used has been more dependable or reliable, and I wouldn’t even think of going to work without one”. Perhaps he was taking a back hander from Casio, or maybe just trying to instil in us the idea of being on time, but Ive rarely used anything else since and can confirm they are nearly indestructible, perfectly accurate and have never failed on me once . Great watch and you can afford to buy 100 of them for less than a used tag or fossil. Not that you’d ever work your way through 100 in a lifetime.
Put a timer on your mindless scrolling….you will be blow away how fast say ten minutes goes by when you are on IG, tick-tock or FB. Brutal waste of time. I have my first Omega (day date) and love it
Dude- the Casio Duro isn’t a beater…. It s icon , a classic!
Healthcare worker here, 12 year vet. I started carrying a notebook while at work years ago. While dont necessarily plan my days i do jot down various tasks that need to get done or get specifacally assigned to me. It helps me to organize my tasks by importance and/or how old the task is. It always feels so good to tear out a page that has everything marked out and no more room left on it. -cheers.
I love this advice given with the metropolitan night life!
Buying a watch or notebook won't help you be more aware and manage your time and schedule, unless you make using these simple tools a habit... Great Video! Keep it up...
I have not lived by my watch for 25 years now, the best decision ever, to get rid of my watch, underperforming is the key to my happiness. Do not get stressed about all the things you want in your life, just prioritize the things you really want to achieve, and just live life how it comes, get rid of those stressmaker watches and living by a tight time schedule
It's kinda creepy that this video was in my recommended queue. I quite literally just ordered the Casio F-91WB earlier this week. I'm also using the exact same Pilot G-2 pen... 😳
I went from no watch, to an Apple Watch to a Casio watch. I can set multiple alarms so I don’t have to carry my phone with me to the bedroom and it’s distraction free
We need more people using driving street footage and a backdrop to videos. So much more charming than generic stock footage.
Haha, I'm an old guy and I remember how happy I felt when I realized I no longer needed to wear a watch because I now had a phone that also told time. Then smart phones with calculators! And now real time language translation is imminent! Once in a while I look at my old watches and recall the routines I had for them, then I gingerly repackage them and put them away. Nice video, thank you.
Мне нравятся часы и я хотел бы их носить, но у меня тонкое запястье и все часы просто висят на моей руке😭
no
I feel this video found me at the right time. I've decided to go back to school while working full time and my schedule is a far cry from balanced. Starting my second semester today, one class called for us to make a goal to work on this year and time management is that goal. I will definitely give this a try and I hope it yields positive results.
The best thing about wearing a divers watch with Bezel you can set the bezel to when you commence something AND be able to see the current time with a turn of your wrist. I still wear the same Seiko divers watch model 7548-7000 I got for my 18th Bday in 1978. Yeah I'm 64yo. Simple things like I set a goal a few years ago to read something of benefit for 60 minutes each day. I read mainly biographies. I swim every day for 16 minutes. After my swim I do the 60m reading in a cafe with coffee.
This is so valuable Thank you for putting your time and effort for making this video
I have a white board in my room that I use to do something similar. I'll spend 10~20 minutes on Sunday planning out the major tasks for each day to make sure I'm moving towards my goals. Really helps a lot since I have a tendency to flail around at whatever project is in front of me if I don't have an idea of what I should be doing.
A Airframe Snubbie in an Ankle Holster,a Bic Lighter,SAK,a Real Good Steel Barrel Ink Pen ,a 6" pair of pliers,a Full Tang Mora Knife, and a Bianchi Bikini Strip for Reload and your good ,a little flashlight.
I do exactly the opposite, don't want to notice time as everything seems to drag on when i watch the clock. Just have a nokia that i mostly leave at home
1)An analog watch us a good graphic picture of time. You discover what 1hour looks like, then what 1 hour feels like (with that graphic in your head). 2)The notebook is also a good journal, work/job time card, idea saver, password saver. Old people use to have a "Daytimer", old paper binder with monthly & weekly calendar, blank sheets. You swapped out old monthly booklets, then saved/stored them as a hard copy for reference. 3)Get a nice Parker Jotter stainless steel pen, and ditch the plastic.
f91w ftw!
Subscribed 🎉👌
Absolutely OUTSTANDING video !! I carry in my shirt pocket (yes all my shirts have a pocket) pen and small notebook. I tried organizing the note book but it is better to just jot whatever in the book so you do not get sidetracked and forget. Need something from the store, jot it down. Need to fix somthing, jot it down. Planning your day/project/etc is invaluable. Being able to note things is also invaluable. I feel you should carry a pen light in your pocket too... Great Video and yes, what youtube was made for...
Yep, a watch helped me manage some aspects of ADHD tremendously; and I just started wearing one (a Casio F91W) because I thought it was retro and cool, I didn't even think I would actually look up the time... The notebook though, I just ended up shredding pages and making tiny paper airplanes when bored; which someone might find to be a good thing, me, it was just more clutter in my man-bag.
I brought myself a Casio G Shock with an Auscam theme. I'm an Officer in the RAAF and time management is essential. I journal every day and have done so for 2
I haven’t been wearing a watch in over 20 years. I use my phone and my small notebook in the same way you do probably . Although I write in it all day whatever comes up in my head. I journal in a larger notebook every morning and evening and sometimes even during the day. This has been my way for ages. Helps a lot staying on top of business. No multi million dollar company unfortunately.
CASIO DURO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You picked the best watch to get things done! This was my first serious watch and is still the most useful to me
I daily my Galaxy Watch 7, but for nicer dinners or client meetings I'll swap to my Withings Scanwatch 2 (white) with milanese band as it gives the appearance of a non-smartwatch even though it is 😊 and I can keep syncing health metrics back to Samsung Health. I'm also a lover of my Lamy pens and a bad habit of buying random notebooks 😅😂
Like the soft core self improvement stuff
My phone has a watch in it
You just wasted my precious 5 minutes 🔪
Try a pocket watch. A good one.
I recognize that road. You live in the Boro’?
Nice content, I've decided to do this too. The only watch that I have is the Casio AE1500wh, it has the biggest most visible screen, five alarms, 100m water resistance, very good back light, stop watch and timer. It's pretty big but wearable. Good watch if you need a watch that can do it all but cheap.
This is very good advice. Plus, watches and notebooks are very satisfying and enjoyable things to use. Thanks for the great video.
"Wearing a wristwatch, on the other hand, is a constant, visible reminder that your life is not unlimited. Each flick of the second hand is a tangible signal of your eventual demise. We are all dying men, and our perishing only accelerates when we fall oblivious to the inexorable period at the end of our sentence. A wristwatch reminds us that we are always running out of paper and ink." - wisdom from the internet Good video; keep them coming.
I think normal watches are the best think you can buy and have. But normal watches put your brain running out, the smartwatch are not like that. I only like smartwatch for running. Talking about the normal watches put your are the function they have they are very useful. Today I have the Casio edifice with a slide rule very usefull but I bought a 27 dollars jaragar navitimer for horse riding (in case I felt this one is less expensive. But a note book and a watch are very usefull. Congratulations with the video
Watching movies, if they're proper cinema, can be a valuable hobby. Just follow it up with reading about it a bit, your artistic sensitivity will grow. Also, go to arthouse cinemas whenever you can; there you'll meet other enthousiasts.
Over the past few yrs I've managed to collect about 10 watches. Some I bought at the start, other are gifts from family or friends. None of my watches are over $150. If I break one or lose one it's no biggy. I always carry my handy dandy notebook and mighty pen. It's just easier for me to write than type what needs to get done. Great advice in my opinion. Although I didn't learn much from this video, I'm sure others will. It's a good way to unplug.
Excellent video. Duros are tremendous timepieces.
2:12 uh, you guys can ignore your phone??
SmartWatches are just hyped these days, they are superdistractive...yet unnoticed after a time Genuine Analog watch is something you can't resist, plus it defines personality✨️
I am part of the “young people” generation that typically are on their phone all the time and I’ve Personally thought that no one my age just spends time in the moment anymore
Quit carrying my cellphone last year. It essentially became a house phone. After that year, I switched to an actual wall mounted house phone. As a result I started carrying a memo pad for groceries and such. I’ve always worn a wrist watch, but recently started carrying a pocket watch and won’t be going back. Another thing I’ve started is leaving only enough in my bank account for the bills I have to pay online. I’ve found it to be easier to manage money when I see the cash leaving my wallet.
Fantastic I hope to stumble across more thoughts like this
