Dental healthcare and personal dental hygiene is so disgusting in the UK! I've watch 100's of You Tube vlogs from the UK and aside from a VERY small fraction, they ALL have ROTTEN TEETH! Here in Canada, dental hygiene is so prevalent and important from toddler onwards. You hardly see anyone with rotten teeth or a mouthful of NO teeth! Their breath over there must be just dreadful - rotten mouth = BAD BREATH and a detriment to overall health!

Its horrible i have thoracic spine bulging from t1 to t12 except for t6-7 and t9-10 ruptured, worst pain ever, makes my lumbar l4-l5 s1 feel like a picnic. This dr looking at her like he doesnt believe her. My mri showed a hairline fracture i didnt know about. I was diagnosed with severe dengerative disc and bone disease. I have ankylosing spondylitis as well. What's weird is i get wierd shocking pains in different areas of my body just suddenly. I felt in in my upper abdomen, my breasts, hips, legs but its different from sciatica pain which ive had for years. In the middle of all these issues, i was then diagnosed with malignant bladder cancer. Thankfully they operated but i didn't lose my bladder. I feel bad for this lady. I know its hard to describe. Unless you would experience it for yourself, it is hard to understand. I describe the worst ones I've had as being tazed by a police officer. That was a lil while before my thoracic 9-10 ruptured.

I don't know why so many doctors prescribe creams for intertrigo, which is a fungal rash, usually candida species, that occurs in skin folds, under breasts, armpits, and groin area, especially in heavy or immobile persons. The idea is to dry the area so the area is less friendly to the organism. There are many antifungal powders that would clear those up so much faster because they absorb moisture as well. They don't easily rub off, like creams do. It makes almost a protective layer. We used antifungal powders in our ICUs for these rashes with great response.

With PCOS, don't give up. My niece was told by 5 doctors she absolutely would not conceive because her PCOS was so bad. So she didn't use birth control. Surprise! Age 29....she was pregnant. Who was a God given miracle because her biological mother died when she was 3 months along, and her biological dad died at 5 months. The pregnancy gave her hope. And now we all have a very precocious adorable 5 year old girl who is a little version of her mom.

I would not have been as nice to the rude woman. I would have told her I'd sort it out but keep redirecting her back to the problem. If she wouldn't redirect, I'd tell her she's used up her time and I'd follow up on the medication but she'd have to schedule another appointment for her injuries if she insists on using the time for her medication. There's no excuse for her behavior.

They don't even admit an acute stroke to the hospital! I'm stunned! Sending her to a clinic in the future. Meanwhile, she's not on an anticiagulant. No CT has been done. I know I'm never going to the UK. I have too many issues and this limited care model is not good for people with complex issues.

Considering the doctors care for 90% of all the medical issues, they are sorely outnumbered. They basically are functioning like ER doctors in focusing only on one or two problems. 90% of the treatments are basically stuff you can get over the counter in the USA. They can't take more than 10 minutes. This is what you get with socialized medicine.

The lady with the boils. Try using a bladed, not electric, razor in your perineal area. It helps exfoliate dead skin. Then immediately after, dry your skin, then apply a layer of Hibiclens chlorhexadine soap and let it dry. Every day, wash the area, dry, then reapply the soap and let it dry. It will eliminate the majority of skin organisms. We use this as a surgical prep for major chest, abdominal, and spine surgeries to decrease risk of postop infections.

Try ordering online and delivering to home. I was very overweight and the store was terrible. I’d come home with tons of crap. When I started ordering online, this stopped because it wasn’t staring me in the face. I’m diabetic and ended up on Ozempic to manage my sugars. My glucose is now below A1C of 6, and I’ve lost almost 60 pounds. I am only a few pounds from ideal weight now. Which is critical because I’m dealing with an autoimmune disorder affecting my spine. The extra weight made it worse.

Why do doctors stupidly palpate the uterus externally? Unless there's a humongous tumor, they aren't going to feel anything. And the fact she's been there now 4 times with gyne issues but still hasn't been referred to a specialist is just plain gaslighting. (Edit...this time she finally was referred, but it should have happened sooner.) Typical blowing off of women's issues until it gets so bad it can't be easily fixed or fixed at all. She needs a CT and ultrasound and likely a D&C. We don't necessarily have the best healthcare network in the USA, but we can get things done faster than in the UK.

I cracked up at the guy getting the hand injection. I used to get oxygen, a reclining chair, and an ice pack ready anytime I was starting an IV on a healthy young man, especially tattooed ones. 9 times out of 10 they'd get clammy and dizzy and sometimes pass out. Never had that happen with a woman. Who's the stronger gender???

I was a head nurse in ICU for years. I ended up always being the bad news bringer because the doctors would only talk about their part and not the big picture. The patients at this point aren't responsive so it lands on family to make decisions. And too many people believe their TV shows are correct and everyone survives resuscitation looking great, when in fact, very few do survive. I'm having to ask the hard questions and getting them to think of what the patient would want. It was one of the hardest and most draining part of my job. When my own father had a massive stroke, I had a fight with the ER doctor about putting him on a ventilator. He had told me numerous times he didn't want that (he was also awaiting a heart transplant). After his scan, where half his brain was dead, the ER doctor agreed. By some miracle, he survived 9 more days. He died right after I left the room to go home.

Because her problem may resolve and it's intermittent. And she is older. Doing the Epley maneuver could cause issues with her carotid artery. She also has an infection in her foot. The dizziness could be from infection as well. If the infection is gone and she's still dealing with vertigo, then consider it. Plus she was at the end of her 10 minutes and heaven forbid the doctors spend too long with their patients. Their offices are more like ER. Deal with the main complaint only.

NHS. Means Never Have Surgery. The NHS is awful about people getting timely surgical intervention. The poor circumcision guy should have had his done on the first visit with urology, knowing his condition would only get worse and could lead to him not being able to urinate because it's blocked. We don't have the best care in all situations in the USA, but glad I have access to what I do. I have an autoimmune degenerative condition that they would never have found in the UK. They would have blown me off and told me to take acetaminophen. I currently have a pain pump for medication, muscle relaxers, and a spinal cord stimulator because there's so much damage to my entire spine causing enormous pain. It was identified by a neck xray, which I doubt would have been done in the UK. Something is very wrong when 90% of the care provided gets 10% of the budget. And the politicians keep cutting the doctor's salaries and demanding more work. 10 minutes isn't enough time to address a complex patient. And to make the patient have two or three appointments to address what should be done in one appointment but there's no allotted time. And heaven forbid they have to send a patient emergently to the ER when the patient should have been able to go to the ER straight away. I'm not shaming the doctors. They're doing what they can with the little they're given. And now pushing for more PAs and NPs to give primary care, so the NHS can pay them less money for the same work. It's a rotten system.

The MRI is indicated in this case! NHS cheaping out again. She has a ton of symptoms consistent with a cervical spine nerve impingement, on multiple levels. So frustrating when she told the doctor she's done everything but the doctor ignores her and starts back at square one. Universal health care isn't good for the quality of care and burns out so many doctors because they're being asked to be an expert in everything! The doctors and nurses do their best but I can't imagine trying to do this every day.
