Vail's Newest Trail is SPECTACULAR
Spice Rack is the newest trail at Vail Bike Park. I rode it on closing weekend was in heaven! This trail is a really cool blend of steepish tech and narrow jumps, all while weaving through a beautiful Aspen Forest.
I hope you enjoy the video!

Are you racing the session series enduro races this summer?
Haven’t decided yet! I’m likely toning down the racing this year in favor of exploring cool trails and bike parks. I plan to do a few revs and possibly the Floyd hill session series, but we will see. I’d really like to make it out to Snowmass, powderhorn, whole enchilada, and burns vista this year.
Gilpin is awesome
Yo what trail is this at NTM?
@@Shred_Tube it’s the “Mesa Top Connector” trail on Trailforks. I have a full vid on my RUclips channel if you wanna check it out
Question please, the Fox comes in small/med and large/xl. My son is more of a med/large kind of guy. What size do you have, and how does that compare to your typical t-shirt size? Thanks for the video and info.
@@daledubose3032 I’m a large t shirt and wear a large! I have a wide chest/shoulders
nice video! do you have a chest mount or helmet mount in this?
@@magicmaddox chest mount!
@@GnarlyBearMTB thanks for the quick response! preciate it!
@@GnarlyBearMTB one more question, are you standing or sitting? and how does that change the view?
@ always standing! I’m never really sitting going downhill. If you are sitting, the view looks wider because the camera is further back relative to the bars. When I stand, my chest gets closer to the bars.
@ gotcha thanks! Keep up the content!
Looks beautiful just moving back can’t wait to hit in 2025 how much is a pass for vail?
I’m not sure and their pass prices aren’t listed since it’s not summer anymore. I’m guessing around $70 though. I have a few friends who work up there so I used their employee comp passes!
I miss my rockhopper hardtail ☹️
You should change the title of this video to "How 'sane' people ride Ore Chute." I've only seen the top and bottom features and I can already tell the injury risk on several of these features is just way too high for sane riders who have a family or mortgage...😅
Ahaha yeah I do try to reasonably preserve myself and take calculated risks. I have a pretty good track record so far ✊🪵. The beginning features are easy compared to the middle ones, though!
@GnarlyBearMTB yeah I was really tempted to try the first roll but I was I'm worried I'd want to go further and get way over my head. I was more excited about trying hard money anyways
Cool video ! Can you directly strap it on your back without a backpack ? Would it be steady when you jog in this case ?
@@epos_rising you need the backpack but they do make other third person view products. It would not be very steady jogging. I don’t think I’d recommend it for jogging unless your backpack was glued to your body lol
Thanks for the vid, no bs, just the good stuff!
Have you had any experience with the knocking sound?
@@hellotherexu2393 I haven’t had any knocking. My biggest negative experience with the shock was just how easy it is to put the settings in a horrible spot. There’s a lot to play with. I’ve dialed it in for me and love it now though!
Do you have one and have knocking?
Fly my mate fly..
Running 150mm Miranda on my Husqvarna mc2 down from 165mm(it’s mullet from the factory). My stumpy carbon is likely gonna get the mullet treatment so I gotta go from these 170mm to at least 160mm
That was a very tactful way to tell the hikers they shouldn't have been there. I'm filing it away as a script in case I find myself in a similar situation. Nice riding.
Yo, why are you running your running your bars upside down in the Middleton riding?
@@alexrohde4962 didn’t know what I was doing lol. There’s no real reason to do that unless your a reach/aero fiend
If you have HSC maxed out I would consider going up 50lbs in spring rate, and/or adding a Cascade Component link to increase progression. HSC adds support everywhere, so while that can be good for big hits, it also adds harshness to square-edged hits at speed which can make the bike sketchy and uncomfortable in fast, rough sections of trail.
@@Das_Ginger good suggestion! Since this video, I’ve lowered my HSC a touch. It’s at about 70% of max. I am in between spring rates, but I’m pretty happy with where my setup is now. It’s a bit harsh for bigger hits, but I’m used to it.
@@GnarlyBearMTB MRP and Super Alloy racing both offer 25lb increments if you need to split the diff between Cane Creek rates.
@ good to know! I’ll check them out
Nice
Where’s this?
@@DavisWisan-rj4xp keystone bike park
Colorado truly is a heaven.
Thanks for the video, I thought it was well done! Meaty paws are my favorite grips. I'm 6 ft and usually wear large-sized gloves but I wouldn't say my hands are huge. I mostly ride park and with smaller grips I find myself clamping more than gripping - switching to meaty paws helped arm fatigue a bunch. There's definitely a sweet spot where too large starts to work against you like you mention in the video!
@@zephyros867 yeah it’s VERY dependent on hand size! I’ve found 33/34 to be great for me.
Well done... Note the link for the Fox Raceframe says UNAVAILABLE.
Thankgod theres a install video
lol
I met you at the bike park, me and my friends finally started a channel
Hell yeah I’ll sub 🤘
Awesome dude!
That’s sick! Nice pictures!
@@Floppy23 thanks! Haven’t played around with the camera in a while. It was time
Dude, quality looks great! Nice job
@@tdb814 thanks! Yeah it’s a bit more effort to set the camera up but really fun to play with and edit
Is this guy reading someone else's reviews?
I’m reading from the script I wrote.
Thanks for the video! I have a Megatower frame on the way that I will be building up this winter. I have had a DB Inline on my old Tallboy for years and always liked it. I have been contemplating the the coil for the new bike. Did you get a 62.5mm or 65 stroke on this shock?
@@davidkennedy3050 62.5 stroke on the V2 megatower. It’s the stock stroke! I need to do a “long term” review but the TLDR is I love it, but it took a bit to tune it for my riding. I’d recommend it!
😮❤❤❤❤❤😮
just a medium hit in the rips can ruin your season
Do you find it noisey? I’ve had noises like knocking in mine since day one, already been in for service twice and seems finally its mostly quiet but still every so often I still hear it. Oddly it’s like I can hear it and even feels harsher when it happens. Seems lower speed tech like tree roots steeping down through a tight turn the read feels more like it wants to hang and thunk it’s way through, you’ll feel the rear wheel hit harder and hear it more too. I check travel and it’s not bottoming so I’ve opened the HSC, closed the HSC just doesn’t really seem to matter too much in this scenario. Tested same trail with same bike back to back vs 2024 fox float x2 (tried it on an SC Nomad 6 and a Bullit now) and I think the float x2 is actually smoother and gets better traction. I’m beginning to think the kitsuma has some choking in the base valve piston going on not letting enough oil through fast enough on mid size hits (similar to fox x2 series coil and air pre 2024). I have another coil shock coming to test to see if I just prefer the more progressive nature of air on these two bikes or if it’s actually the shock but curious what you’re finding. I think I can almost hear it in your video too on some of the rock square edge hits but it’s hard to say.
@@jessehill3780 mine is completely quiet. Have you tried calling cane creek? Their service is pretty good!
@@jessehill3780 also, I had some serious tuning troubles with mine. I could not find a tune that worked for me. I ended up calling cane creek and talked to their suspension expert and he got me in a much bettter spot. Im really happy with how it behaves now. Running about 75% HSC and lsc, 50% lsr, 30% hsr
@@GnarlyBearMTB yea it’s been sent in twice for service. It’s mostly quiet now but every now and again I still think it’s there.
Just did ore chute yesterday, definitely not for the faint of heart.
Slaying it bro💪👊
5:46 is where Spice Rack ends and it connects to Onza Alley
Oh dang I didn't catch that! That was one of my favorite parts too.
I am going to bikepack up there Friday night and plan to take my hardtail with my bikepacking gear down this on Sat morning lmao
You got this! And you in one of the best places to bike in the USA!
We sell those at home medical supplies in lone tree if you ever want the hookup!
Nice review. Thanks! Reminds me a little of Plank Trail at Jubilee College State Park in Illinois, on steroids (if in that area, might be worth a try).
what trail is that first drop?
Baileys downhill at vail bike park
Yeah such a great blend of machine and hand built. I usually wouldn't end up riding here until some sort of work event...and always thought to myself "Damn, these trails may be more fun than many other parks in Colorado." I think just adding a large scale double black would really round out this system... (old 9 isn't much of anything these days.)
7:21 the aspens are so beautiful
Love too see it❤ so awesome to see vail open up some new trails. Keep up the great riding
@@Gus_Everett thank you!🙏 I agree it’s great to see Vail expanding their bike park. They have a great mountain template for park riding and a growing selection of trails.
nice dude
Heaven looks so nice 👍
I did this on closing day at Vail Sunday with my son. It was pretty amazing!
Also where is this? Snowmass?
@@Quicksy_ vail bike park
@@GnarlyBearMTB nice! Also another question, do you know if you can bike up Snowmass mountain and go down the bike park after the gondola closes?
@@Quicksy_ not sure unfortunately. Most places are chill about it though!
@@GnarlyBearMTB You’re good! I just was wondering because I am heading out to Snowmass in a few days unfortunately RIGHT after it closes 😭 Atleast I could get some laps in!
Somehow heaven will be better than this 😂
Great vid bro(first)
