Ok so i was actually curious about the whole “brother’s friend from community college” thing too. According to Bustle, the family actually has an older son named Kale who’s away in a four year now. Chip is the only sibling actually shown. But for some reason, the movie never mentions Kale’s name, just his existence.

You’re not the only one who sympathized a tiny bit with Martin. At one time, we know he made Claire laugh and feel good. But his bad personality and alcoholism ruined that.

I feel like part of why Claire is so conflicted about Flea is because EVERYONE likes Flea better (even when they don’t). Claire’s own husband, even Claire herself. And there is so much love there but there is also this troubling sense of guilt and envy that she doesn’t know how to express. I love Claire it’s just her journey takes a while.

Claire is sweet, smart, funny, and she's been into Carmy long before he found Michelin success. Family and friends who know her all love her... but I guess I saw that Carmy/Sydney spark from the first time they saw each other in episode 1 and it's hard to see him with anyone else.

The thing with the small desserts is, you eat them at the end of an 8 course meal or something and you can't really stomach a big ass dessert after 7 courses. 😅

this was actually a pretty interesting intelligent reaction ive watched a lot to this movie and your one was one of the better ones! btw the colour was desaturated at the end because the ratings board were going to give the movie an X certificate so they made them desaturate the colour for some reason to make it less shocking

The screenwriting/dialogue is pretty much excerpts from the novel word for word, which is probably why it feels disjointed. In case you're wondering, the novel is excellent but also extremely disturbing. The movie held back big time on his more gruesome killings, which includes murdering a child at the zoo. Even though it was really well written from Patrick's POV, I had to take LONG breaks after finishing chapters because of how graphic it was. It absolutely is worth a read, but be prepared...

I think the things you zeroed in on, like the stabbing, were intentional choices. Like, the violence isn't really on display but secondary and it kinda plays with people's expectations of what the film actually is. You see the title, and at this point reputation, and expect something a bit different. People expect horror and get black comedy. A grand statement or insight and nothin. The campiness, as you said, makes it so wonderful if you were expecting blood and gore. I think to could be a better movie for you on a rewatch. Funnily enough, I find the same thing happens with Psycho (1960).
