Coal is the 4th best cargo or 3rd in the beginning after mail and pax. Go far is right, but you can buy the train right after you built the station so it can load while you make tracks. Also don't use the Jubilee bc Ginzu is much better.

Just wanted to add that the trains SHOULD not crash with what I had made before I basically forced them to crash in the last clip by removing part of the track and telling them to ignore signals. Anyway I'm sure there are more complex and or future proofed layouts you could use for your tracks and stations but I chose what I did because I felt it was simple and easy to replicate. One last thing to keep in mind is that mail is another great resource to start transporting especially if you join a server late and with bigger cities. Mail is only worth a little less than coal and loses value at about the same rate as coal. Another benefit of mail is that you can use planes to transport it unlike coal so you can transport a decent amount of it really far distances.
