    I ride a 7'6 for a beginner but I know I can't do radical turns but I am having trouble distributing my weight and my rail gets hurried when on a relatively faster and steeper wave. Should I put more with on my back foot? Or how do I go about improving that? Thanks.

    I like the breakdown. Maybe analyze the kind of section that you are looking for, and mention the reason for the two types of floaters + you say slowly a lot, but nothing about Jordy's surfing or 6ft JBay is slow. Thanks for the vid!

    Who’s the surfer?

  • @coolmatterstome
    @coolmatterstome 3 года назад

    I have trouble with step 1. Hope this helps others having this problem as well. It seems that no matter where I surf, I have that "tunnel vision" mentality where I can make the steep drop frnt/bck side but I can't seem to get to the bottom of the wave! I ride almost every wave as if its a tubing wave and tend to just surf across the entire wave, staying in the middle trim line of the wave and pump through to the shoulder unless its a closeout. How do I fix this? I want to surf more top to bottom and the BT is the 1st place to start but I just can't break my trim line to get to the bottom/flat part of the wave in the 1st place! I usually have an angled takeoff aimed towards the shoulder. Is there a mini "set up" turn to break the trim line to get the nose to head to the bottom? Do I need to shift my eye gaze to the bottom right after dropping in? If so, nearly 99% of the time I forget to do this after takeoff because Im so caught up in the moment of making a steep drop.

    Thank you so much for this! Question: when taking the drop, should I apply pressure on my back foot?

    • @surfhub_membership
      @surfhub_membership 4 года назад

      Most of your weight needs to be on your front foot. With 100% commitment. I not sure if you skate? but it's the same as dropping into a mini ramp, same weight distribution applies.

    Hello I’m just wondering does the angle take offs help with nosedives.

    • @surfhub_membership
      @surfhub_membership 4 года назад

      No. You nose dive for two reasons: 1. Body positioning 2. Paddle speed. Angle take off is for you to begin to draw your line as you pop up on a unbroken wave. Hope this helps 🤙

    • @chris.mcdddd
      @chris.mcdddd 4 года назад

      Do you think it’s more paddle speed based or body positioning.

    Loved the video. I'd like to know more about the role of the knees, hips and chest on the angling pressure. Which pressure points do you use besides your hands? Thanks.

    • @surfhub_membership
      @surfhub_membership 4 года назад

      You want overall weight distribution to be on the inside rail. Your hip bones would be another pressure point

    one thing that i forgot after not surfing for a year was leaning in and really committing. if you lean back at all youre going over the falls lmao

    • @surfhub_membership
      @surfhub_membership 4 года назад

      So true. Commitment is huge on your take off and will totally set you up for the rest of your wave. However, most surfers see the drop and pull back. Fear takes over, and then your left in the half way zone. And, like you said . over the falls you go...

    My movements to pump seemed so exaggerated at the time I was doing them. But when I saw myself on video it looked fine. I guess these big movements, like throwing your arms, really do help create speed.

  • @ChaluKim
    @ChaluKim 4 года назад

    I am building a takeoff balance board to practice these "sequence" right. I call it three point transition toy. Angling by pressing right and bringing back foot and land it 90 and bring front foot and land it and keep the angle right and release hands especially right hand later for angling. The key is to land the back foot on a bull's eye to use legs as extensions of arms. I call it crawling practice. ;)

    • @ChaluKim
      @ChaluKim 4 года назад

      @@surfhub_membership Faster and more stable you get on, the more you can ride. Dry land practice allows more time for manuevers.
