Dandenongs 1and20 Debut - full with telemetry
Great video mate!!
Full power to anyone who even attempts Peaks Challenge, and congratulations to all who completed 🏆
🤘😈🤘
I've got some eps to cacth up on. YT hasnt been sending me notifications for new uploads. Some ripper views in this one!
How many hours per week did you train in average and for how long?
Hi JulAlxAU - For Peak I probably averaged around 12-15hrs per week then up to 15-20hrs in January & early February. This included turning mid week commutes into 90 min training sessions. I don't have a rigid methodology, but I do like to do one 6hr+ ride per week at a minimum of 2000m for around 3-4 months before the big day 👍
thats nice background sound at 46:00
I use the Garmin 1040 and yes I agree with your thoughts.
Thanks Fabian - it is definitely the best bike computer I have used 👍
I have been on Pirelli Cinturato Velo the last 3 years on 3 bikes. 2 racers and my commuter. Not one puncture in three years. I ´m commuting all year around. In Scandinavia they put gravel on the bike lanes during winter. Not one puncture on the 35mm commuter tire.
Thanks for the intel!!! I will be doing a real life review very soon on the tyres I commute on👍
Just found your video. Glad you’re having a good experience with the Vittoria’s. What width are you running and how comfortable do you find them? I’ve run GP5000 28mm they were nice. About to change to tubeless and have bought these in 30mm but not fitted them yet. Wondering if I should have gone wider as I’m not a feather weight rider
G'day Chris!! I am running 28mm and the wife is on 30mm. However I am about to make the change to 30mm after seeing some evidence that the extra width does not cost in speed. Will also make managing our spares a little easier 😉 I run GP5000's on the spare bike (not tubeless), and the main difference I have noticed is they can have a tendency to skid with heavy rear brake application compared to the Conti's. Enjoy the change to tubeless!
well done guys...
Very well done guys ... unbelievable effort. Impressive!
Well done fellas. Keen to do this next year unless it hits those temperatures!
Lol were there guys jumping in the river? 😂
Sure was - the heat was real!
I live local albury club rides and fallscreek and buffalo regularly seasons back . Never done the peaks a bit stingy paying given ride all these hills . Heat hit this region hard after a long cold wet . Credit to those who did it Sun in the afternoon is a killer
Well done boys. Great video and some very impressive times in the toughest of conditions. I've signed up already see you next year. Bang Bang
Thanks for the tow at the end Lee, it was so appreciated after the previous 2 totally ridiculous hrs on BoF!!!
@@veloburger My pleasure mate. It was such a great day. I can’t wait to next year already. It’s so tough but so rewarding.
Top video guys. Yep: based on my training times I should’ve easily shaved 30 mins off my 2021 time. But, yeah nah, 30 mins slower, and even then just scraping in. The heat from Omeo was like a wall. Chapeau to anyone who got through it. 🧢
Looks like a tough ol' day, mate. Great effort, team.
Amazing cinematography, and great job!
Really enjoyed video and well done on completing peaks, legends!! I took Fatty's nutritional suggestion of Woolies dark fruit cake onboard. Please, please pass on my thanks to him.. They are fantastic and really did the job on a 200km pre Peaks prac ride yesterday..Very easy to eat food, and hopefully a real game changer for me.
G'day Andy, glad you enjoyed it. I will be adding another Woolies product to my pockets this year - they do a caramel slice pre cut into 4 small pieces. Trialed them a few weeks ago and they were great!!
@andycraig280 … 👊💥😘
Hi, your tire beads unseat when you deflate tire?
Hey Phil - no they don't - once seated they stay there. I had that issue with the Pro One's when topping up sealant, but I have not had it once with the Next TLR's 👍
Some familiar sites there. Looks like a great ride.
Where did you fly out from Melbourne? I am a keen cyclist from Griffith. Ride & race, enjoy long trips, done a few Cycling Bright weekends How did you arrange things, was your wife able to do things without you while you were cycling?
G'day Peter! We flew to Dublin initially then onto Lourdes. The wife was recovering from injury so we popped her onto an eBike and she loved it. Got to explore the region at a more sedate pace, went to the local markets etc. If you want more info, just hit me up on Instagram @veloburger 👍
how come Up and Go in the bidons didn't feature?!
Thats a good question - call it fatigue induced forgetfulness on the the Friday evening 😉
Brekkie of champions mate. I know it sets me right for my 16km commute every other day!
Wow very good ride and cows, isn't it!
"we've has some good days and some bad days".....oh, I know of a recent baaad day 😬
Nice work.
Looks like a good day out 👌
Nice vid. Shame that peacock wouldn't shut it's beak!
Lol - true story
Great highlight of the function resistance 🎉
That looks amazing ! 6 of us are planning a 2024 trip there. Did you Organise with a cycling company? Do you have gps routes?
Hey Kevin - glad you enjoyed the video 😉 I arranged the trip myself, but I can put you in touch with someone who can arrange a Pyrenees trip for you if you like? If yes, just DM me on Instagram (handle is veloburger). I also have the routes on Strava, again just DM me and I can send you the links 👍
Great video again team Grabyn. Congratulations. Poor Carol looked fozen at the end 👏👏👊👊💪💪👌👌
Another truely great video team Grabyn. Looks like you both had another awesome time in those mountains. Cheers Pete
Gets great shots while: Passing people uphill Looking backwards Looking handsome Nice work buddy!
Great riding team G…. When’s the podcast out?
Briliant!
That would be Brilliant! LOL.
Choco Rice my man! We really are the same person lol
Because It's Peaks.
Great video as always Team Grabyn. Well done on another great result even though it wasnt quite as good as you may have wanted, Bloody good effort in my eyes. Congratulations. Cheers Pete
Thanks for the video, I've signed up for next year and this is really great and motivational. Are you planning on doing any content around your training for the event?
Hey Dave!! Stoked to hear you have signed up - good luck with the next 12 months, it does take commitment :-) Training videos, I toyed with the idea for this years event but just found myself to busy - I may do some monthly summaries toward the end of the year - something like that. If there is any in particular you would like to see, please let me know.
@@veloburger thanks mate. Monthly training update videos would be great to judge the required km's needed in the legs to say get around sub 9. Being from the west of Melbourne, options are limited for climbing training 😅
#mountmacedon many many times ;-)
Did you use VIRB Edit for the telemetry overlays?
Sure did - not sure why the power didn't come through, and unfortunately I didn't notice until the video was finished.
@@veloburger doesn't it take a lot of effort to sync the video with the GPX files?? Finding the right corner or road to align with, I found it too much work. I used a program called Telemetry Overlay for my Peaks video, it made it so simple. You can see the video on my channel
Yep, you do need to find a point on the road to sync the GPX file with, but as I have done it a number of times I don't find it to arduous
great video, its an epic event! chris noticed you didn't hit your goal time, was it fatigue? or? thanks.
Thanks for watching :-) I battled an unusually high HR on the day which I think lead to some other issues I had to manage for the ride. I think that was caused by poor sleep and stress in the days leading up to the event.
@@veloburger yet I saw your training on strava, looked very well prepared, so you'd think it must of been over training or a virus/bug. next year!!!!!
Definitely next year :-)
I enjoy watching your video each year
Glad you like them :-)
Great video.
Well done mate. Love your work.
Thanks for sharing. Was last there in 2019 too and heading back there Jun/Jul 2022....covid permitting! Love the place :-)
Tremendous . Fantastic Climbs and Epic terrain . Must Do !!!!!
Bucket list trip when the world returns to normal. Great video guys!
Ooo you drive on the left. Didn’t know that.
Superb achievement and an excellent time - well well done...and a great interview afterwards...
