Damn, I miss this. I went to a practice for the first time since 2016 today... it was like coming home. I just might hit Wednesday through Friday of war week this year if I can swing it.

This was my first pennsic and my first battle. man just looking at this field and hearing the horns makes me anxious. I felt so tense leading up to the charge. at least my kit this year will be more in order.

i think you handled the first scene entering the dungeon well. By saying no to the pillars you kept the pace going, and it also set the pace and fear factor for the dungeon. Now the players are thinking the walls and very ceiling could be my worst enemy. Next, making the call with Mage Hand was perfect due to the fact, once you say yes to something over the weight limit now, the player is going to expect for you to do it always, and if you dont there will be friction. A spell like that can be abused once you go off the rails with it by allowing it to pick up more than 5 pounds. Revealing the poison damage, even though, Tarric was immune still scared all of the other players because they are NOT immune to the poisons> Having the Rat there to discuss with players regardless of anyone having the Speak with Animal spell or not I thought was a really great call on your end. Players definitely respect and appreciate small things like this in the game. By you setting it up like that made interesting turn either way. Unfortunately, the rat was blow away with a spell. That explosion and cave in was a devastating trap and it reminded the players of the fear of cave ins in the dungeon...just in case they have forgotten! Giving the player their moment of AMAZINGNESS was a great thing because thats, honestly, your job as a DM Always making them wanting more...
