When I was on the Silver Star. The train was late due to stopping to pick up a repaired P42 in North Carolina. Due to the delay, the crew informed us. They did the swap from Diesel to Electric in 20minutes. It probably would've been 30mins to do the swap over. Though again due to being late they had to due it with 10mins less time. They got it done in 20mins and those ACS-64's are sure fast units.

I look forward to the day when I can go from Bergen line to englewood!

My wife's train from Washington DC to Pittsburgh, PA on July 21st, 2023 was on an electric train. The train's electrical system stopped working 3 1/2 hours into the trip, and the train was dead in the water, without air conditioning / lights / door controls (to open the to get some fresh air into the cars). The train spent 5 hours immobile, and when someone actually showed up to fix it, they couldn't. The train was pushed "backwards" back to Washington and because of that it was pushed backwards, it took many (not sure how many) hours for it to get there because of the snail pace it was going. Trying to get a refund from AMTRAK is an impossible task.....they take your $$$ quickly (immediately) when the reservation is made but it takes up to 10 weeks to get a refund, even though it's for a train that was canceled. They hide behind the "it's AMTRAK policy" curtain. The train was canceled and there is no "investigation" that needs to be done......my wife didn't miss it or anything like that. I'm still waiting on my refund even though I called the next day and again a week later.....going to have to go to the BBB and file a complaint. Saying all that, be very, very weary you're not an electric train....make sure it's a diesel. Frustrating as Heck.

I think these MARTA subway trains sound like the R142As, the R143s, and the R188s.

Wonder why they removed the locomotives from the Boston section. Seems a bit unnecessary and I don't think they usually do that

Last time I was through there (mid-May 2023), some doofus was on the island platform wanting to head uptown and was standing against the fence like he was willing the doors to open on that side. He looked super-chagrined when I gestured at him to go down the stairs and across to the other platform. It’s not like there aren’t umpteen signs!

I never really considered how cool it is that NJT is still running the same (type of) train on that line as I rode as a kid growing up in Princeton. As so much of the town has changed-including the location of the Dinky station, in 2014-that part has remained just as I left it.

The Princeton station is not the original one. It was near Alexander Road and was replaced by this one in 2014.

It seems to me that NJT should have spent some more money and renovated the Princeton Junction rail_head as well. I think that it would be a good idea if the curved platform were disposed of and Princeton Junction was modernized. With a single train and a single track I would guess that the Dinky runs only once every hour.

The T at night is such a vibe.

Nice shots of the light rail on the surface street. I am glad to see they did incorporate a high level platform for handicapped or elderly passengers to board the cars. The doors and steps don’t look easy to board as there is no handles to help you board.
