Hey Dan! Sorry I couldn't make it. It's great to rewatch though. The painting looks so nice already, I love how it turns out. :)
Thank you, hope the painting went well for you too :)
@Dan.B.Artist yes! But it's by far not as artistic as yours 🤣
Wow 🤩
Thank you :)
Beautifully done! This would look lovely on a tin
Thank you! 😊
How would you get it on a tin? Do you know of a company that does it?
I was thinking of printing it on sticker vinyl and having a go at sticking it on.
I love the composition and the colours.
Thank You!
I haven’t heard of any random greys for a couple of years now. Have they stopped making them?
I haven't been following the last couple of years, maybe they stopped :(
What # do you use to browse the entries? I assume you’re using Instagram?
You can browse the gallery on the website, linked in the description :)
First! Best of luck 😊.

Happy new year, my friend! Thank you for these tips, Daniel! When I was an airbrush artist, masking fluid was my best friend. Nowadays, I've had too many experiences where it tore the surface of the paper up, despite how careful I was. ove your examples of the wet on wet and dry brush, which I'm still trying to grapple with. Hope you and your family are well! Cheers! ~ Mark
Happy new year! Glad you found them helpful 🥰
Hi Manganese Blue 👋
Oh hi 👋🏻
@ 😄
Happy and blessed 2025!
🥰
I'm an illustrator and I do care about lightfastness because I like to put my best stuff on the wall. Personally I make sure everything I use is lightfast and permanent. To me "permanent" also means water-resistant. This doesn't mean having to use super expensive materials but it does mean buying more carefully, but then I'm free to use anything for anything without having to partition works in advance "this one's just going to be a sketch, that one's going to be a masterpiece". Most exceptionally good work in my experience happens almost by accident, another reason why it's good to use reasonable quality materials for everything!
Definitely, it's always worth it to do your research.
The Winsor+Newton custom service has been kind of inconsistent from my experience. This color I have seen in 5ml tubes, so they did come in tubes at least. (Currently have one coming in the mail along with the same color in gouache). I have gotten contradicting information for pigments and availability when I have contacted them. They can still provide great informational but it really depends on who you are talking to
I don't believe these ever came in tube, only pan form from what I was told and I've never seen this in a tube. I believe a lot of the admin and customer service was transferred over to the US in the last couple of years. Last I heard they were still organising themselves.
@Dan.B.Artist I recently bought a big lot of vintage winsor and newton watercolors, and it came with a 5ml tube of Rose Carthame. I have seen a couple on eBay previously, but they definitely aren't super common. Maybe it's a location thing? The tubes I have seen/bought were from the US.
Wow! That’s fantastic!
Thank you! Cheers!
Fantastic job!
Thank you very much! 🥰
Do you think other fish find clownfish creepy? I mean if a fish is driving in the darkness of the ocean floor and suddenly in the middle of the dark expanse ahead there is a single, solitary clownfish just bobbing there, would the fish turn around and drive away quickly?
I guess the ocean is a creepy place 😂
@ 😂
Your clownfish looks great! I find it fascinating how you’re able to paint with other hands. 😮
Thank you! 😊

Interesting! I feel different watercolor grounds work differently. The DS one spreads colors more and is flexible, Schmincke is smoother and stiff. So the paints behave differently on them too. But I too noticed, that colors are not as bright on watercolor grounds as on paper.
It's interesting that the brands are so different from each other. It is a shame they suck so much colour out of the paint.
Does the aqua fix or the ground have any smell?
No noticeable smell when using them. They might have a light scent if you sniffed the bottle though :)
@ Thanks!
First!
They look awesome!
Danke sehr :)
Mouse?
Haha it's a rat :)
i like it
Thank you :)
