I recently rediscovered this track and thought I would share it. It features the amazing Joe Nunn on fiddle and me on guitar. The tune is an O'Carolan one (look him up) and the video clip is from "The Vagabond".

Take Two's version of this traditional recruiting folk song about the Duke of Marlborough's campaign in the Wars of the Spanish Succession. John Tams reworked this song for the "Sharpe" series starring Sean Bean, but to do so he had to reset it in the Napoleonic Wars. Do you remember Xmas 2012? Well, Driftwood appeared at an open mic night at the Wrekin Inn little knowing that the late great Tony McPhee (of Groundhogs fame) was recording the event for posterity. I wrote this song for my Grandad, although it's not about his actual experiences. Here it is sung by Emma Woodhouse. I play the guitar and mandolin and the other musicians are: Ali McDonald on piano, Linda Del Manso on BVs, Andy Wain on resonator, and Nick Wells on bass.

The photo's of the loading bays in Fobney Street were brilliant. My Dad, Roy Gascoigne, worked there loading up the lorries. Brought back memories of going into town with my Mum for the weekly shop. My Mum would get a burger from the van in the market and take it to Fobney street for my Dad. Great photos, thanks for sharing.
Hi - I think I remember the name Roy Gascoigne. I used to run the staff shop next to the bottled-beer loading stage and so knew most of the employees as everyone would come to the shop to spend their allowance. I can't put a face to the name though after all these years.
