Giant of Steam Part One ( Ross E. Rowland, Jr.)
This Is Great Watching Ross Rowland Jr's Giant of Steam With Reading T-1 #2102 🚂🚂🚂 😊😊😊
Note that he operated Canadian steamers, Unfortunately because the original locomotives that ran on their respective roads were scrapped they had to bring steamers from elsewhere to pull these trips.
Awesome series! 😍😍😍😍😍🤩🤩🤩🤩
Ross reminds us of a time not too long ago when steam locomotives were the publics interest which has largely diminished in favor other things but back then seeing his High Iron Co trips throughout the northeast was quite a sight watching giant coal spewing machines thunder from town to city attracting thousands by the roadside
I’m safe to say that a good portion of rail fans revere Ross Rowland. I’m a rail fan who reveres him!
Same
Wow great vid I got to meet him just today with new hope 40 and want proof well I’ll post a vid of that
Hi! Is Ross still alive?
@@melissawittman2560 yes he is and I recently send him a note asking about CNO 614 and said he’ll run it on his soon the be AFT 2.0 train from 2023-2026
@@GreenbeanProductions For the 250th anniversary of our country's founding
Thats a privilege to meet a man who has done so much for us and the public to help regenerate interest in history long lost to history.
@@Voucher765 yea it is
what was this from, and where can i find it?
I am not a Pennsylvannia dutchman, but the NKP Berks never could be the reading T1's
with the new presidential inauguration coming up. Any chance Mr Rowland could pull something off like this. it be something to behold.
I love how he's wrapped up in so much NJ railroad history. He was influential in the operations of the Pine Creek and Black River & Western railroads.
Cemented in our consciousness
GMN425 wrote "I'm sorry , but there isn't any more. My computer has crashed and I lost all my videos". I also learned this way that making backups regularly pays off... LOL!
I was 3-4 years old when the Freedom Train passed through Dallas. I remember the 610. I also remember going through the cars, but not at 'adult' eye level. For some reason my parents didn't lift me up to see the artifacts...buttheads. So for me the train was a long boring conveyor belt with two guards at the end of each car. I love trains to this day but at that time I could remember that I couldn't wait for that particular experience to end.
no roundhouse in cranford new jersey. the roundhouse was in elizabeth.
Actually there was and it's now the town public works
K4JW The ace 3000 project was abandoned when the price of oil dropped only a few months later.
Umm no it was abandoned when they ran out of epic gamer juice
I may have ridden the Shay in Freehold way back. Think there was a restaurant named Julia's by Rt 9 up by Union Hill Road exit. Track ran west from Rt 9 and curved into woods then backed up. Nothing but McMansions now petitioning Raceway Park closure for the last 20 years.
+speedskiff2 You mean Pine Creek railroad? The Shay hasn't worked in years.
+RaritanRiverRailroadFan4 That's in Allaire Park. Rode it maybe 1959/60 when Rt.9 was only 2 lanes. Track crossed over highway but they didn't use it. I remember RR crossing signs on Rt. 9. Think it was all gone in early 60's. My grandfathers were both engineers. One on Pennsy and other on Reading.
Was this a commercial video originally? I've never even heard of it before now.
Ross is a fine Gentleman indeed, for those of us that have gotten a chance to work for, with or just Fire a Steam Engine for him know this already
it clearly states in the Info he got permission. How do you get away with being so ignorant?
@TheRealZUIKAKU Easy. Purchase the video from Mark 1.
@TheRealZUIKAKU I'm all for sharing, but this is intellectual property. Someone put a LOT of time and effort into making this production. To post it here so the general public can view it for free, takes money out of the pocket of the people who worked long hard hours to produce the video. You sure wouldn't want to work for free, would you?
@GMN425 Although this is an older posted video, I don't believe "Mr Rowland" is/was in a position to give permission. The production itself is owned by Mark 1 Video. So unless you have permission from (and have paid royalties to) Mark 1 Video, this upload (and the other parts posted) is a violation of RUclips's copyright terms of agreement.
Great series! Hope you came out of your computer crash OK! Had similar experience myself-frustrating!!
@xxxIronHeadxxx Uh, he said "Feel" holmes.
I am also 9/10th steel
@EssChee calm down.
what ever happened to his ace 3000 project
Lack of Funding and publicity. And the project was let go
The 4449 is NOT more powerful then a Reading t-1!........
Ross is what America is about. God bless that man. he knows, feels and has done what all of us dream about!! Steam is the real deal and how many of us dream just to sit in the cab much less pull that lever!!
Ross is symbolic of hard work and leadership, Although some of his beliefs and political viewpoints might be outdated he helped shape the world of steam excursions that continues to thrive today, While he wasn't the first one to do such he revived public interest into railroad history and spurred attention from celebrities like John Wayne who saw him with NKP 759 back in the late 60s.
Google Yellow ribbon express. 614 is going to be restored and it is going travel the U.S. for three years starting in 2011. It is supposed to stop in 60? cities
honestly insurance and the equipment as well as the tracks couldn't handle it anymore
759 was ran up to 76 mph with Ross
he had 614 going 70+ in one video
nice 90 is my favorite locomotive. I love to see her out on the main line
Part 4?
The narrator said the rambles ran 1960-64 but they started in 1959.
