Initial Care: New hatchlings should be kept in a controlled indoor environment to monitor their temperature closely. Probiotics for chickens: Introducing probiotics is beneficial for the health and development of incubator-hatched chicks, as they lack the natural transfer of beneficial gut bacteria from a mother hen. Hydration: Proper hydration is crucial but must be carefully managed. Specific...

While watching videos on building chicken coops , I paid attention to what they said they would change if they could. Love mine.

Yes, learning from mistakes-whether ours or others'-is invaluable. When I built my first chicken coop, there weren’t many resources on RUclips. I aimed for something small to keep warm in freezing winters and easy to clean and collect eggs. I am glad that you found the best option for you.

@IdeasforFuture2100 I just wished mine looked as good as yours. The girls have AC ( fan) and swimming pool ( large water bowl) during the summer. They seem to be happy.

@@yt5mh7kn6d The most important thing is for the girls to be happy. As for me, I’m passionate about woodworking and love experimenting with colors and styles. I’ve built many coops so far-for chickens, hens, turkeys, geese, and ducks. It’s my way of expressing myself and relaxing in this crazy world. :)

Good point! Using a heating pad instead of a regular brooder heater makes a lot of sense when it comes to promoting healthy leg development in turkeys 👍

You must have some but chicken houses I have hade chickens all my live and had the same blood line for 9 years and lost nearly more then half my chicks of my blood line mostly do to rodents or winter or going missing and can never find them only 1rooster and 2 stages and 6 females left of my blood line and word of advice its always better to hatch chicks the natural way then incubation because half the time the chicks hatch deformed or the grow to be very weak comparison to the natural growed chickens and can't handle the harsh weather

I mainly raise Kabir and Transylvanian Naked Neck. They’re very resistant to illness and harsh weather, whether they’re incubated or hatched naturally. In this video, I'm focusing only on chickens up to 3 months old, which are well-protected in mobile coops. As they reach adulthood, I have experienced some losses due to free-range conditions: three hens died of Newcastle disease, and two were taken by nearby dogs. However, these are risks I accept when allowing poultry to roam freely.

We used to own geese and they really are all these things above. We had a goose that even lived in our house and would chill on the couch etc. We took him to the local dam and he loved zipping around under water for an adventure too. I am tempted to get a couple again after this reminder.
