Hello, Could you please provide me with the cost incurred in making your furnace room fireproof, including the labor and materials involved?
Since every furnace room is different and every city has different requirements, it's almost impossible to answer this question. It depends on so many variables.

Yes, absolutely. But I would highly recommend going for thick high quality vinyl plank. Sonopan X is like a "soft" underlayment and you want a solid and strong vinyl plank on top
Hey Christian do you use a specific floor underlayment upstairs as well such as a mass loaded vinyl to help with the sound? Thanks for the Vid!
With regular Sonopan in the basement ceiling and Sonopan X upstairs, you don't necessarily need the best vinyl flooring but there are some that claim to have soundproofing qualities. Hope this helps.

You're entitled to your opinion. I have installed Sonopan and Sonopan X in at least 10 x multi-unit properties and I'm very happy with it. It's not perfect but it makes a big difference.

Anytime crossing water, make as small of waves as you can, they may force water into your engine bay possible into the air intake box and into the motor. That's bad, we don't like hydro locked motors. So safe trails.

Thank you for the vedio.. working on exactly the same project, use sonopanx on existing hardwood and then the vinyl plank. Basement kept no touch on ceiling for now. From upstairs, I can feel the difference when stepping on the floor, it helps to reduce the impact noise significantly. Just I'm not sure how's the effect on air born noise from basement to main?
Nice! I've done this several times now and it helps significantly every single time. You should notice a big difference with air born noise coming from the basement as well. If I could only find something to damp the noise traveling through air ducts, that's the last missing piece...

You don’t need sprinkler system in furnace in St Catherine?
It depends on the drawings and permit set you submit to the City planning and building department. I've done several of these ADU conversions in St. Catharines and we have never done a sprinkler system. I would talk to your designer about that before the permits get issued. Hope this helps.
@@christiankalb I did the sprinkle system and don’t do the ceiling I am assuming, if no sprinkler, then has to do the ceiling nicely like yours?
@@胡家大叔 Interesting. Every municipality is different. St. Catharines is considered to be one of the worst, maybe the worst City to deal with in Southern Ontario. Fire rating/proofing is the #1 priority for the inspectors, so if you don't have a sprinkler system, you definitely have to step up your game.

@@胡家大叔 100%. Every municipality is different. I wish it was more straightforward but the building inspectors love all the "gray area" because they can create their own rules. It's extremely annoying.

It doesn't have to be key locked. That has never been a requirement in St. Catharines but the building inspectors are very inconsistent and difficult to deal with, anything is possible. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your message. The tank less water heater and the furnace both have air intake pipes drawing fresh air from outside. There are no issues from the perspective.
How did the landlord let it get this bad. Was it a rental or was the homeowner evicted.
Normal tenants turned into meth heads during COVID and tenants have all the rights...long story short...
Zero sympathy.i used to feel bad for landlords but now the greed is killing families so now they get ppl move in that live like trash instead of charge a nice rent for a decent family to have a home. Hope it cost him a fortune to clean it. Use your rent profit 🎉😂

I am so sorry this is happening to you. I was born and raised and took care of my mom and she gave me her home the mortgage payment wasn’t that much. I took care of my mom for my whole entire life that I could remember I was married young and my sister was smart enough to put the house in my name And my ex-husband‘s name. When I was 45 we bought another home I had a lot of belongings in the home . I had my brother there to take care of that rent, free utilities, paid everything, without my knowledge he had people moving in. By the time someone wanted to buy the house it was a mess. He absolutely sold everything that wasn’t tied down or couldn’t be taken. I had remodeled the kitchen. He actually sold everything down to the cabinets. When we purchased the new house, I found out my ex-husband wasn’t being faithful. He sold Everything we owned under my nose and I didn’t see one penny from the house I was raised in that my mother had gave us. Found out my ex-husband had another family. The money that we got from my mothers home. He used to put a big down payment on his girlfriends home. I’m just so glad my kids were already grown up went to college and have good careers. I was left with nothing. My mom passed away in 2007. I was so busy taking care of my mother and raising my children. And I would do that part again in a second. I totally understand how you feel about people invading your home your property. I hope everything works out for you. And the reason my sister had the house put it in my name was because I had nine siblings. And she wanted to make sure nobody could take it from me in the long run they still did.
