J'adore
Thank you! Merci :)
Can i know when to use them? It sometimes asks me to choose between past simple and past continuous
Past simple: The action has been started and completed. Past continuous: The action has been started but *NOT* completed. You are in the middle of doing it or completing it. Does that help? :)
I have the same doubt 😢😢
@@EnglishMadeSimple thank you
When we're talking about two future actions where one will be completed before the other, we use here future perfect continues, and when we're in the middle of doing something in the future, we use future progressive. Is that correct? Examples: 1. I'll have been watching the film before the power cut. 2. I'll be driving until the fuels run out. Thanks in advance.
Yes, you are more or less correct but... there is a slight difference between the future perfect and future perfect continuous. 1. The future perfect continuous can be used to focus on *DOING* an act (rather than the outcome). For example: 'I will have been CLEANING my room for 2 hours by then. I will be tired.' = here you are laying stress on the fact that you will be cleaning and therefore it causes you to be tired. future perfect: 'I will have cleaned my room by then. It will look clean and tidy.' = Here you are not focusing on the action of cleaning but the outcome i.e. the room looks clean. 2. We also the future perfect continuous to talk about actions which are repetitive or happen multiple times over a given period of time as oppsed to just once. There are other points but that's enough for now.
thx
You are welcome!
It's lorry, not lori

Insist on students doing homework? Or.. Insist students on doing homework?
Insist on + person/thing + verb...ing He insisted on Peter writing an email. I insisted on Jon driving the car. Tim insisted on me eating the food. Therefore the answer here is 'Insist on students doing homework.' I hope that helps :-)
This video scares me a bit. It somehow appears to be AI rendered. And what is this weird breathing sound in the pauses?
thanks
You're welcome Emma! If you have any questions please ask.
I fell madly in love with London, is a wonderful city, just a shame about the weather and the price of life; it’s too expensive.
Yes, it is a very expensive city, even for Londoners themselves! :-)
I like the culture of London, the tourist places, sometimes the weather is crazy but I love it.❤
The weather here can be quite volatile but despite that we still attract a lot of tourists.
Great public transport, I love London
Nice to hear that. Try to be careful not to use black taxis as they are expensive!
I really like London for his historical masterpieces and for his beautiful park. My favourite attraction is (without no doubt) Big Ben, when i saw it at first impact i thought that i was in a night dream. In London there is just one bad things, the rush hour, when the people leave the work and the underground and bus are very crowded and noisy. I think that London must be visited at least once in a lifetime.
Yes, London is a city of 8 million people so can be quite busy especially compared to other European cities! :-)
I think that London is a very nice city because it is really organised and clean as well. The public transport are working good and to be a big city is quite safe too. what I don’t really like is the whether.
Yes, the weather here is often grey! :-)
London is a beautiful city, here you can find many things to do during the day and night. Also for me it is one of the capitals of soccer where one of the best teams in the world are located. The only problem the city has is the climate and the high prices of almost all the things.
London is one of the most expensive cities in Europe, yes! :-)
its a busy ,multi element city.rich culture and historical deposits, The two years I live here will be a good experience.
(Exclusion of securityヽ(;▽;)ノ
We hope you have a good time here! :-)
I love London cause it’s been a whole new experience, London it’s so big and you have so much to see and visit!, besides it’s a beautiful country :)
We hope you continue to enjoy your time here! :-)
London is my favorite city in Europe
That is nice to hear! :-)
I love this city because it has many activities
We hope you have an enjoyable and productive time here! :-)
Insist on or insist in?
insist on :)
@@EnglishMadeSimple Thank you very much.
Please, do you have any book in which we can have the explaination of all these lessons you teach here ?
Hi, we will be working on a book on these grammar rules. When we have them, we will notify you via this RUclips message. :) Or you can write your email here.
@@EnglishMadeSimple Alright, thanks 🙏
At 4:10, you made an error. Instead of discussing the future continuous, you wrote "We form the PAST CONTINUOUS...didn't you?
Well done, thank you for pointing that error out!
I did not understand
😢
What exactly did you not understand Bilal? :)
Never mind I watched it again now I understand
Respected Ma'am, being the greatest grammarian of this generation, you are earnestly entreated with folded hands to let me know which of the following sentences is grammatically correct from the point of view of Tense-(A) in three years 'time he will be studying medicine (B)in three years 'time he will have been studying medicine.
Sentence A is correct and is the future continuous. :)
Why did we use the past continuous and not the simple past in the following sentences?👇 What were you doing yesterday? Where were you going? Who were you talking to?
We were talking about 'what action were you doing over a long period of time yesterday?' 'Where were you going?' = You were in the middle of a journey somewhere and where was your destination while you were on that journey? 'Who were you talking to' = You were in the middle of a conversation with someone at a time in the past and who was that person? You were in the middle of these actions at a time in the past and you had not completed the action, hence 'Continuous'.
i didn't understand
Future simple = You will start or finish an action at a specific time in the future. Future continuous = You will be in the middle of an action at a specific time in the future. 1. I will start my class at 9 am. 2. I will finish my class at 12 pm. However. 'At 11.30 I will be studying in class' = future continuous = the action is neither finished or started but you are in the *MIDDLE* of that action.
When we want to ask someone about an activity in the past, how do we know whether to use the simple past or the past continuous?
If we want to know what someone was doing at a specific point in the time and whether they have completed the action is secondary to us we can use the past continuous. So for instance we want to know about a person and their activity at 7.30 pm then we would say 'What were you doing at 7.30 pm?'. However if we want to know if a person has done a specific action or not or what time they did that specific action we use the past simple e.g. 'Did you see Peter yesterday, yes or no?' 'What time did you have lunch?' I hope that happens and please feel free to request more examples or for further clarification if you wish to. :)
@@EnglishMadeSimple Are there other situations besides the ones you mentioned where you can use the simple past and the past continuous to ask someone?
Watching from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Nice! I hope you enjoy our videos! Are you from Dhaka? :)
THE BEST FOR STUDY ENGLISH
Thank you soo much! :D
I will have a shower , then I will have breakfast etc sounds like a plan - and from learner's point of view - we should ve used future continues .. quite confusing
'I will be having a shower' = means that at a specific time in the future you will be in the middle of this action and you had not completed it. 'I will have a shower' is an expression of your intention.
Thank you so much.miss
You are most welcome! :)

Respected Ma'am, being the greatest grammarian of all time on this planet, you are earnestly entreated with folded hands to solve the following Tense-based 'Proper Forms of Verbs 'issue that has baffled so many grammarians and teachers. The question is as follows: Joe Biden was elected the president of the USA.He ---(defeated/had defeated) Donald Trump by a small margin.
'He had defeated Trump' However depending on the context, 'defeated' (past simple) could be acceptable as wll. :)
Respected Ma'am, being undisputedly the greatest grammarian of all time, you are earnestly entreated with folded hands to solve the following grammatical issue on Tense-based 'Proper Forms of Verbs 'issue that has baffled so many grammarians and teachers. The question is as follows: Joe Biden was elected the president of the USA.He ----(defeated/had defeated) Donald Trump by a small margin.
Either are correct depending on the tense, context or intended meaning. 'He defeated' = past simple, an action finished in the past with sometimes the exact moment not being specified. 'He had defeated' = past perfect, which is a past action that is defined by it occurence happening before another action in the past. I hope that helps. :-)
I'm an introvert person which is when i'm meet people or i'm in crowded place i feel not accostumed. But, now i must familliarize oneself to accostomed and feel comfortable when i'm in crowded place or meet people. Now i already use word "accustomed" make a sentence. 😅
Nice sentences. Let's see what other sentences other people make. :-)
