je comprends pourquoi le très talentueux Tommy Emmanuel est en admiration quand il écoute jouer son ami Richard Smith et le montre . Il y a dans ce monde des grands guitaristes un grand respect réciproque entre ces artistes de talent. Depuis que je suis capable de mieux apprécier les particularités du jeu de chacun d'entre eux , je ne rends compte qu'essayer d'établir une hiérarchie, n'a aucun sens . Je me contente donc de savourer la chance de pouvoir écouter tant de gens aussi doués ...

When I was in high school back in the 1960's , I saw a lot of Louisville , Kentucky area groups perform at my high school on a Friday night and one of those groups were the RUGBYS featuring STEVE MCNICOL ! There were many local groups that I got to see including SOUL INC , THE KEYS , THE CARNATIONS , THE TREN - DELLS , and many others . All of these bands were very good and it's a shame that only a handful of them got any notable national attention .

I knew these boys were talented but I had no idea their talent was off the charts, literally. These songs are music staples of the repertoire of the artists who did record them. Their talent just blows me away.

He's got the Atkins arrangement off to a tee, but he throws in some nice little embellishments of his own which give it an extra lift. Yes, he owes a lot to Atkins, Reed & Co., but he is flying the flag for this style, as is Tommy Emmanuel - I think these two are the premier performers in this field at the moment.

I think what is so infuriating is how unknown Richard Smith is in the grand scheme of things, when ultimately; there are so, so so very few guitarists on his level. His skill, technique and artistry are just in a completely different galaxy. It makes you ponder on all the unsung geniuses out there, or the geniuses who mistook their potential.
