Restoring a vintage Citizen 6628 watch for my girlfriend!
It was a right handed dial. You simply messed it up.
Thanks. I’m cleaning mine now.
These are really fun watches, but SUPER HARD to wind. The square 'fat boy' cases are just as thin, but have a much larger crown that alleviates this. BTW getting this style of hands parallel so they reflect in unison is SO HARD!!! Took me 6 tries.
I'm stuck: When i put on the train bridge the train spins freely, but as soon as I touch the mainspring barrel the wheels of the train get stuck. Do You have any suggestions? Thanks
Hi Rudi! If you dont have the pallet fork installed, then its either a broken pivot/ jewel, a bent wheel or too little endshake! Best double check that everthing is where its supposed to be and work backwords to find the issue! Good luck!
Hi ! Great project ! I am currently working on a similar thing and I am wondering what would be the best choice for the mesh wafers. Where have you found the wafers you are using in these baskets ? I am a bit unsure about which size to use. I was originally aiming for a size 30 (around 1mm holes) but I can't find it in wafers like yours. Coffee filters are available as wafers but I am afraid the mesh would be too fine this time (around 0.2mm holes). Any feedback on which mesh size to use and/or keywords to find the same mesh wafers as you are using ? Thank you a lot !
Hi! Cool that someone is trying to make something similar! I also had similar thoughts to the hole sizes! I think I posted a link to these wafers either in these videos, on reddit or somewhere else! I think that these wafers ended up being some sort of industrial filters. But I also looked into the direction of fishing equipment, seeve meshes, etc... I did also see someone fully print the mesh pattern into the basekt walls, maybe that also an option for you?
Good job!
Thanks!
Amplitude 200 with 52 lift angle it’s a great result!:)) Lift angle Miyota 8200 is 49 degrees, it mean that real amplitude is near 180-190 degrees. Very low. Sad
Oops! Well I will do proper research the next time! The only way is up!
Such a skill to possess
Hey! I have a question, I waq following your video for my first ever mouvement service, and I lost a screw which popped out when unscrewing (the 24 hourdate wheel), do you know where I can find replacement screws ? (I'm located in Berlin)
Hi jb! I might be a little late but if you still need a screw I can gladly give you one for free! I have so many left over haha. You can gladly send me an email :)
How much does it cost for servicing a watch like this?
Services really depend on the condition of watch. I would give a ball park guess and say that a service starts at around 120 Euros.
Hey there, Do you have a link to the crystal you are using? I have one of these but I do not think the crystal that came with it is correct as it does not fit properly.
Well done!
Oh dear what a terrible way to take the hands off. The damage was cringing watching it deform the hands.
ETA 2842, not 2824. Modified for Swatch with reduced frequency for longer service period
Thanks for the hint! I uploaded an apology video ;-;
How balance stuff from 2824 can fit to 2842? Different BPH!
They built it pretty well, only the real rate changes, it was 1/3 faster I think xD
Stellt sich heraus, die Lünette kann entfernt werden. Was hier gezeigt wird, ist Pfusch.
Ich liebe Pfusch!
@@Berlintime030 Sieht man.
MORE CONTENT SOON ER PLZZZZZ
Good job bro. Did you end up Having to replace the Balance wheel or were you able to straighten that Hairspring by hand?
Stunning indeed. Good job man.
Bro you are actually applying too much oil, not too little. Also it would serve the watch much better if you apply the oil only in the very middle of the jewel. When you cover the sides or the top of the jewel -as you do- with oil it will pull the oil out from the middle leaving the pinion dry. This oil will then eventually spread out over the surface of the movement which isn’t supposed to have any oil on it.
Does a 21-jewel movement actually have 21 synthetic rubies? I never seem to find this.
Jup. Crazy isnt it? Pallet fork jewels and shock setting jewels also count of course!
Glad you were able to fix this. Where were you able to find parts for the ETA 2842? I see many parts for the 2824 but not the Swatch 2842.
So am I! :) They are the cheaper version of the 2824 so I did find a lot of spares floating around on Ebay. But maybe the sellers also mix them up ;)
great video! 👌👍👏
Thank you! 👍
i have a swatch crono dead, wich eta could fit and replace it?
Old swatch chronos can only be serviced difficultly! No Idea which movement it is though. Sorry !
Did you notice that 3rd wheel is bent? Strange, it was also bent in my Promaster. Also the pinion of the 3rd wheel is very wor in both the movements i have.
Merhaba saati hangi yağ ile yağlıyorsunuz? Silah yağı ile yağlanabilir mi?
Great video, thank you 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey! i also have an 2842 movement of swatch, but the plastic parts broke that connects the bracelet. Do you have tips on if i can buy a new housing somewhere? I don’t mind if its the original plastic, or aftermarket steel
Go ali.
I think these are special vintage parts which are not produced anymore, best go on Ebay to find an old donor. Good luck!
I do have a plastic housing if you're still interested.
What a britness
Old but still has character!
Wich liquid you used for service of wtch
Many Oils and Greases. Depending on the area of use and wear!
This is a replica movement in a Seiko case.
Thankyou. i cant belive i repaired a citizen 7 eagle ❤
Great job 👏👏 27:02 If you're copying this rebuild - just FYI he setting lever spring is on back to front. I'm surprised you were able to get the barrel bridge on correctly since there's a cutout on the underside to match the curve on the sring.
Pretty detailed travel plans.... how many rest room stops ;>
I think we had 1 :)
You are doing my head in with those tweezers.......either bend them straight again or re grind them to a good shape on some wet and dry or stone, hint dont make them too pointy unless you are going to do balance spring adjustments. Nice work
You know me, love abusing my tweezers!
Got the same! Works fine
siiiiick
Another banger
Only for the real watch bangers!
Are you sure those are stainless? They look like aluminium. Also, the Chinese ones are typically brass, not copper. Brass is probably a superior choice for this application than aluminium.
Hm! Not sure actually now that you mention it haha. The holder and the drum might be. The arbour is definetly out of some sort of steel though! Yeah sometimes the description on Ali stated Copper or something weird haha.
Anyone knows what size and shape of crystal this watch takes? I have one and I have serviced it, but can’t figure out what crystal it needs
Thank you for this video. I’m working on my first watch which is. 7009 as well and I forgot to take a picture of the alignment of the main spring before taking it out! Rookie mistake but you helped me out a ton
Hi there! Im glad the video helped! Hope it all worked out well and that you have alot of fun on your watchmaking journey!
I just finished my first movement fix/service last weekend and it was the 8200. I figured what the heck. I can either keep swimming around the comment sections of other real watchmakers or I can dive in! Of course, I only dove in after having spent hundreds$$ on minimum tools and lubricants after discovering watchmaking a couple months agov and binging service videos since. But yup, dove in. This is an older of your videos so I'm sure you've got the new tweezers and screw drivers in service, but the fact you would post a video using this pair is awesome! The average person just dabbling in something to see if they like it might only have access to a pair like that, but otherwise might be intimidated off by the expensive second mortgage tools and machines. Thanks for this!
Thank you for the video. Is it possible to adjust the rotation speed?
Sadly you cannot adjust rotation speed or direction but it gets the job done!
I don’t watch videos where people use God’s name in vain.
You just did
Oh lord
@@Berlintime030The 82xx series movements are great and far better than what most lower end mechanical watch buyers would have bought watches with
I wear your very same watch! Nice!
Very glad! It is a beauty!
I just send my eagle 7 to service on citizen, and they are saying that's not possible replace de crystal. Anyone can help me finding the right size and the right gasket for it ? I saw on AliExpress a lots of sapphire glasses so I don't think will be hard to find. Thanks you your video loved it ❤
Hi! Well thats weird haha. Just google around on how to correctly measure and choose crystals and gaskets! There is a ton of information out there!
Hello - any chance you could share the 3D printing file for this version with the mesh sides?? Looks ideal. Thanks :)
Hi there! Im am still keeping it for another video once I hopefully manage to optimize the design and everything! Just keep your eyes out.
hello. nice video. wich cheminicals are you using to clean the watch part please ? thank you
Hey thanks! I use lighter fluid ( benzin) to degrease and Isorpopanol to clean off this movement!
Well done 👍🙂
Hi thanks!
Get yourself a decent camera that can focus.
Haha just trying my best ^^
NEM VI Ô VÍDEO ! NÃO PROTEGEU Ô DIAL PRA RETIRAR ÔS PONTEIROS, FALTOU PROFISSIONALISMO 😖😔 🇧🇷
Hi! Yes I worked on the watch as a hobbyist and not as a professional :)
I bought a mechanical Swatch similar to this year's ago. It will run fine for a day or two then suddenly lose or gain loads of time. It will suddenly be hours out. So i stopped wearing it, which is a shame because i really love the design.
Hi! Well that is very strange. It would definetly be worth giving it to a professional if you really like the look of it! But I agree, older watches do look alot better than many modern designs.
@@Berlintime030 the strange thing is, since writing that comment I have dug the Swatch out and started wearing it again. So far it's kept perfect time. It's a mystery. I even wondered if I had caught the crown on my pocket when putting my hands in my pocket and it had altered the time that way or something. I don't know. But it's been running perfectly now.
