Great video
@@monetanais thank you
Great review. I agree, movies about AI are not new, but usually fun.
@robpetrone2459 this one is ok, but could have been better
Aliens and T2 truly gave us movie action heroines done right.
@@robpetrone2459 most definitely
I love Jack Black and would watch pretty much anything he was in, but casting him as the voice of a cartoon character or as the voice of a boxy robot loses the physical aspect of his comedy that makes him so great.
@@robpetrone2459 also...his character is annoying in this
Thanks for the warning, Normie! I'll wait to watch it at home when it's available to stream.
@brreg070 yeah don't waste money on it.
Im just happy we FINALLY got a giod superhero movie since Endgame and No Way Home. Hopefully Marvel goes back to being fun and good soon
@@SmirkApple it feels like it's been forever. as for the future I guess we will see
Great review, Normie! I really like the movie, but I'll admit, my wife was not a fan. I'm pretty sure it's due to the huge amount of references to other MCU movies/story lines you pointed out. She loved the first two. I think true MCU fans will have a blast with this one. It's definitely entertaining!
@brreg070 yeah that's a problem, it's not something a casual fan can follow easily
I always enjoyed the Deadpool franchise, so I am glad to see that this is a credit to it.
@robpetrone2459 it's alot of fun
Way better than reviews. I applaud Costner's defication and his staging of action scenes on a large scale.
@larry1824 it's definitely beautifully shot
Glad to see that Hollyweird finally got it through their thick wallet that they should dial back the girl boss nonsense, though what would really be honest and refreshing is if they returned to male leads, and told more stories geared towards women that promoted them dedicating themselves to family and children. Americans are already failing to have enough children to keep up with the death rate. Another generation of this and there won't be an America left. The Barbarians are always at the gate.
I still love Waterworld. I think Open Range and Dances With Wolves are better movies. But Waterworld gets a lot of unnecessary crap. Needless to say, I trust Kevin to make great Westerns. I think Horizon is great and ambitious. It's the first part of a far bigger movie. I was able to follow everything going on just fine. Even after the MCU, i dont think audiences are ready for a chapter play on this size. Sad because im excited to see more of these movies.
@@LukeLovesRose i do hope we get to see pt 2 at some point
Loved the Gloria Swanson quote at the end. 😊 Good to see some fresh talent doing a good job in cinema for a change.
@@robpetrone2459 I definitely recommend all 3 films
I love Lupita Nyong'o. She may be the greatest actress of modern Hollyweird. She elevates everything she is involved with. I also love prequels. I think it's fun to see origin stories, and Sometimes they subvert our entire perspective and things we took for granted about the original, and that can be fun too.
@@robpetrone2459 she's brilliant here
I've been hungry for a good Western. And I suspect many movie goers have been for some time. Hopefully that will work in this saga's favor.
@@robpetrone2459 I agree
The 'saga' is cancelled. The movie flopped horribly.
@daveclark8337 I saw they moved movie 2 back to an unknown date. I'm sure we will see it at some point but that's probably it, unless streaming saves it
Saw it just the oter day. Good film. Very strong actor performances. I agree it meanders a little in the middle. But over all I really enjoyed it and it left me with enough to think about.
it was different than I thought it would be, but I really enjoyed it
Just saw the movie two days ago. Great review!
thanks! I really liked it
It's the will one, not the wild ones... At the time I watched your video it hat about 170 views, thats about 150 more than you deserve. Learn to speak clearly and work on your stuff before you publish. Im blocking you. Best of luck.
Wow … little bit of a crybaby, sounds like! 😢
Jodie Comer is great as always but this movie was missing a meaningful and exciting 3rd act. They set the whole thing up for Benny to take revenge for Johnny but it never happens. Instead he’s crying on Kathy’s front steps. Very disappointing. Why even have a 3rd act?
while I very much enjoyed the film the 3rd act was a bit unexpected. I got the sense that neither was happy at the end
You sound like you're from the Philly/Cherry Hill area.
bingo! philly
@@normie1970 grew up there.
@@markbeames7852 cool!
Looks like a good "guy flick."
it is, but moreso
besides sixth sense, what other movie has this guy made that was good? Idk why he gets so much respect when99% of his movies are garbage
I really liked unbreakable and split. but I agree that he can be very hit or miss
If your father is M Knight, then you can afford a consultant who reviews your script and helps you avoid exposition dumps.
I loved The Sixth Sense, and much of M. Knight's body of work that followed, yet I never felt any of his subsequent works matched the quality of his debut film. Let's hope his daughter only goes upward from here.
it's definitely has its moments
terrible take ngl
no problem, I appreciate you watching anyway
"Will Smith should go slap whoever wrote his character this way." 😂 I'm just happy to see them making movies again where police officers are the heroes.
Great job on this review, Normie! Hollywood can't seem to come up with any new ideas. These two characters were detectives in 1995. . . .Almost 30 years later and they haven't retired yet? I think I'll wait for it to stream.
it's not terrible but it's just like everything else. I saw it 5 days ago and have trouble remembering it.
It's different.
it definitely is, and I really hope to see more because I think it has alot of potential
A part of me always kind of enjoyed that slasher films were really morality plays in a weird twisted way.
I would love to see more of this world, we will see
I always loved the post-apocalyptic "road war" setting of this universe, but, yes, without a good story, the most interesting setting in the world won't make the movie good. I'm thinking of Waterworld, for example.
it's worth a watch, and it's beautifully shot. it's just too slow for too much of the film
This was a great family friendly movie that I really enjoyed. It’s something safe you can take the family to. Good review.
I'm just glad to see family-friendly movies making a comeback, where "family-friendly" actually refers to real families and not the alternate connotation of that word appropriated by the "MESSAGE" community.
also, it depicted a positive father/daughter relationship, which is refreshing
I always loved the original Planet of the apes, even the goofy sequels I thought were fun. I didn't care much for the Marky Mark or Franco reboots because I felt they took the story too seriously. But I guess if you just accept that the franchise is now taking on a more serious tone, this looks like it might be a good addition.
lt is, not as good as the first 3 and so much is gonna depend on what comes next but it's good watch
@@normie1970 Her name is not Nova, but Mae. LOL
@@justcallmebrian793 I thought it was both! didn't they use both?
@@normie1970 According to Raka all humans is called Nova when he was talking to Noa in the film so not exclusive to Mae character. When the human character first spoke to Raka and Noa, she said my name is "Mae"
@justcallmebrian793 oh ok, thanks for clarification. I still say her character wasn't that interesting. in fact I'd have loved to seen an apes only film
I really like Ryan Gosling. He is turning out to be a very versatile and capable actor. I had to roll my eyes at how they predictably turned the female lead from another stunt performer into a girl boss producer. Power, power, power. Same old tired narrative.
I don't think she was overly girl bossy here. although I admit that happens way too often
All in all, I would say an excellent assessment of Hollyweird and Disease-ney. The only thing I might add is that I think that their politics informs their hiring process, which results in the poor writing because they are hiring for reasons other than merit.
100% agree.
Thank goodness for Guy Ritchie. Sounds like a winning film. Also, love the Asia reference. 😊
it's a fun movie, I think you will like it
Can't wait to see it!! Thanks Normie!
it's definitely fun
I'm glad to see the Slumdog Millionaire kid's career still going strong.
hes impressive
The irony is I would see any Jake Gyllenhaal movie before I would see any Patrick Swayze movie. But I'm not surprised that modern Hollyweird has done this to yet another treasured film of the past.
out of ideas
I want to see a movie where Morgan Freeman *fights* giant monsters.
🤣
Big. Dumb. And Fun. You son of a b!%@h, I'm in!!
I had no idea that the original cast were brought back for the last one or this one
yup, much more so in this one
Sir Anthony, you should keep going strong. You possess exquisite, and remarkable talents, so keep using your talents, and coniture to make fabulous movie. Best regards, Marion Coleman, Athens, Georgia.
Loved, loved, loved this review. I am definitely going to see this movie.
Thanks Normie! As you said, I'm familiar with the original story. But I had no idea it was made into a full-length film, let alone starring Anthony Hopkins! Now I can't wait to see it.
it's well worth your time
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
I'm glad you liked it 😊
It's hard for me to wrap my mind around a PG-13 horror movie. Who are movies like this made for? It seems to me This is sort of like the Goosebumps of cinema.
it's to try to sell more tickets. this way teens can go but it really takes away from the hard core horror
Zendaya is a treasure of a human being. When I saw her Euphoria...specifically the episode where she feinding(sp?) and banging on the door... she's a top tier actress.
she really grew on me with these two movies.
I tried twice to read the first book (and I've read the Silmarillion the times), and could not get through it. I thought Sting was the only redeeming characteristic of the 80s movie. So, I've been reticent to watch these, but you may have softened me up to them.
watch them both together. you will enjoy them
Loved this movie!
Thanks Normie! I'm glad you had time to watch and review this movie. The trailer looked good, but don't they always? It's officially on my to-watch list.
it's a solid movie
