Learn more: bit.ly/3AeDkai In this six-week program, we will delve into the profound teachings of transcendent dependent arising as described in the Upanisa Sutta (SN 12.23). Despite its immense significance, this ancient teaching has often been overlooked. Most emphasis has been placed on the 12 links of dependent arising that lay the framework for samsara-endless wandering and suffering. In t...

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”― Heraclitus
I’d like to know if Dr Cho knew the Ali G interview was for comedic purposes
May all beings be happy

Wonderful work ✨ Thank you Pierce 💗 7:36 it would be most useful if teachers explained to mediators what to look for (in terms of meditatiion difficulties), so the students know what to look for. Also for them to emphasise that there is no shame in taking a mindful walk, or meditating with eyes open, if students start experiencing adverse effects. 10:20 Sure, these are expected effects of meditation, but if it tips a student into panic, better that they soften their practice until they feel more stable, especially if they are doing meditation because they saw it on social media, instead of because they recognise a deep pull towards emptiness practices, and have an understanding of where thei practice is designed to lead. I don't think it's the "teacher's fault", but from what I've seen, it's the teacher's (non) response to the difficulties that comes under fire.
A little belated but for what its worth I vote yes: we can imagine having someone else's mind.
Sadhu Sadhu Sadhu! Anumodami! 🙏💐🌅🌇🌄🎑💐🙇🏻
You should do a livestream on RUclips
Thanks for the encouragement😊
Grateful. Thank you.
Grateful. Thank you for this practise guidance. I have benefited. May you achieve nibbbana in the shortest period of time.
Thank you, with metta.
So encouraging to witness this dedication to relational dharma taking root in the world. So necessary in these times
Beautiful!! Thank you for recording and sharing these moments.
🥰
This is the best meditation series I've ever sat with.
Thanks for sharing ❤ it’s very insightful
Thank you for sharing this gem of Jack Engler! Here's a quote highlight from the 4-part video series: "What I meant by that epigram 'you have to be somebody before you can be nobody' was you can't spiritually bypass the ordinary developmental and emotional issues in your life. They're not only there, but they need to be part of practice as well-so that everything in your life becomes practice. Not the worldly stuff over here and the spiritual stuff over here. That kind of internal split usually leads to not good spiritual practice and not working through or resolving personal issues ... Buddhism never aimed its critique of the self at the psychological self, as far as I can see. The Buddha and the disciples around him seemed to have very strong psychological selves ... The Buddhist critique was aimed at the ontological self-that there is no thing that one can grasp hold of, no entity, no being." - Jack Engler
In Burma, it has been known for hundreds of years if you have a mental illness and you attempt Meditation you will lose your mind, the Vipasanna Meditation taught by SN Goenka has very strict rules and guidelines about who and who cannot course of Meditation over a 10 day period, and in the application form clearly asked whether you are seeing a mental health or health professional for any reason and if so what type, unfortunately rarely but sometimes people lie on their application forms and don’t admit they have mental health issues because they think that wrongly that Vipasanna will cure their mental illness, but if they do state that they have some mental health problems they are asked to provide a letter from the Health professional clearly stating whether they are capable of completing a very rigourous and demanding 10 day Meditation course, I am a student of Vipasanna and it has helped me enormously. My life is much happier and so much more productive and everyone can get the same benefit providing they have a normal stable type of mind, but sometimes in our life we might need the help of a mental health professional to get us back to a normal state of mind then it’s the right time if one has inclination to take a 10 day residential Vipasanna retreat
It’s also being revealed in research that it can destabilize in extreme ways, folks who start out with a very stable mind. There’s a lot of research about this at the cheetah house. So it’s a both/and
Thanks!
thank you!
What a gift JG is to the world.
Thanks
Thank you.
What a relief! Not colored by sensual desire Not boiling with anger Not choked with the algae of sloth and torpor Not blown about by restlessness and worry Not muddied with doubt Like having settled a debt Having recovered from disease Having been released from prison or slavery Having come to the end of a dangerous journey And we rejoice!
May the merits of this sayings resonate towards the 10 directions. Nibbāna, Nibbāna, Nibbāna. For the honor and merit of Bhikkhu Anālayo, and all the 3 times masters of the ultimate Dhamma
Sounds good!🙂🙏
I can’t find anywhere in Pali canon where Buddha says “ there is no self” he says you can’t find one or a permanent one, he said all phenomena is selfless , but that is different then saying there is no self. If nothing is there how can you negate it?
Thats a very helpful lesson, with a great habit for a mindful smartphone use. Thank you! Some feedback: It would have been even more pleasant to watch if the video had not been recorded using a potato. Thats for newer videos as well: Some videos are hard to watch, it feels more like listening to a podcast. Maybe there is a way to upload these vids in higher quality in the future? Thanks!
Thank you. I have followed all these instructions in the series and found them immensely helpful as a companion to my reading of Bhikku Analayo's Satipatthana - The Direct Path to Realisation.
Yes, yes yes, Great Gratitude❤
Thank you for this insightful video! I’m grateful for the deeper understanding of how our physical space can support and enhance meditation practice. It’s so important to create an environment that feels safe and nurturing, and this video really helped me see how that impacts my mindfulness journey.
I'm so sorry for your loss of Serri. In spirit she is with you. 🙏🧚🐾
Thank you for slowly prying open (reopening) the early human connection to all things. Being all things.
Thanks for reviewing the Holding Environment again. So important!
Very much worth knowing about and learning about.
I hope these precious souls know that they're having a positive impact on us out here in layville :)
Wonderful 😊
Gratitude to Jesse Maceo Vega-Frey and Michele McDonald for their teachings that inspired this talk 🙏
In one of satipatthana meditations Bhikku leds that there is nothing sexual about body and I must say, even though I am 36 years old, for the first time I am sitting in my home naked and I am comfortable with my body. It's just body, nothing sexual about it, nothing to be ashamed of, or its not an object, or tool for pleasures. It feels like a little kid who doesn't mind if is naked, or dressed up. Its very freeing. ❤
Sadhu sadhu sadhu❤
❤❤❤
Joseph is an absolute treasure. I gain so much by listening to him.

Spot on!
Spot on!
This is extremely hard to follow. I dont understand anything. I read books from Bante Analayo but this i dont understand.
My perspective is that This is a discussion in the beginning about the preservation of the oral traditions and running into Contradictory memorization. It is of great interest to historians and he is presenting someone else's teaching with his commeants as asides. I too I'm struggling following but curious and interested.
Merci beaucoup 🙏
Spot on!

This is wonderful. Much gratitude!
