I was never interested in cookbooks except for seeing pictures of food, but this interesting talk got me hooked on to listen to these wonderful ladies until the end. I liked everything except Javed Saab’s comparison of Lucknowi and Hyderabadi biryani. I would love to have their books. Are these books available on Amazon? Very well conducted the session.

Dr Shashi Tharoor is certainly a great personality in contemporary Indian politics. Actually his upbringing and job in the United Nations made him what he is today. He is a well read politician, orator and a good analyst of politics. He is very articulate and writes well. I had the privilege of reading some of books and I greatly admire him for his writing skills and in-depth analysis of the topics that he dealt with in those books. I wish we had many more leaders of his persona in Indian Parliament. It is to his credit that he has been consecutively elected thrice from the highly politically volatile constituency Thiruvanathapuram. He is indeed an inspiring person. Best wishes.

My belief is abhibaya, specifically satvikabhinaya is something within us . Especially after certain age , we have a personality , certain empathy which enhances it . I learnt from Dr. Pappu venugopal garu that it’s the highest form of abhinaya because dancer needs to feel empathetic to the other’s feelings . It can be refined when we learn from a teacher , but it can’t be learnt from scratch . If we can’t understand the passion and curiosity to go into depths of a dance form behind someone wanting to go through pains of discomfort of dust and have satirical remarks for it , there is no meaning to search for someone to teach a person abhinaya . Such toxic remarks and expressions during art debates create toxic environment of art . We need to build a healthy atmosphere. No need to agree with everything, but express it respectfully. Yashoda ma’am - handled the debate with such grace - you are an inspiring dancer and an inspiring personality.

Sound baffled .. not clear

Interesting debate.. But, a slight correction to what Ms. Sabitha Radhakrishnan said on the type of rice used in biryani in Kerala and Tamilnadu . I agree that in Tamilnadu, seeraga samba rice is preferred in biryani instead of basmati . But, in Thalasseri and Calicut biryani, the rice used is jeerakashala or wayanadan kaima rice. Both rice are different. Jeerakashala is short grain, fragrant rice. More fragrant than basmati.
