I'm back with a garden tour from May through June of this year! Things seem to be growing so slow for me, and I really think it's probably the soil we got when we built these two extra garden beds this year. Anyway, I hope you enjoy planting some seeds with me, and seeing how everything is growing!

Recipe please?!
I have termites, and neem oil don't work.
time passes very fast, now he's almost 5 👍
Thanks that was really helpful. I was planning to buy some educational toys for my nephew who will be turning 2 this year. Helped with a lot of ideas
Well done mama. I have a toddler and a newborn as well. Your video just inspired me to film my time alone with them. Thank you!
You do know that most termite species are not pests and are actually good for the soil right?
Yes, of course they can serve a purpose. But there were tons popping up all over my garden as I was expecting to start putting plants in the ground. It very much took me by surprise to see hundreds of them when I would begin digging into the soil… 🤷🏻♀️ We’re coexisting this year. Now that I have more information about them, and how to deal with them.
Try the boiling water
A half a cup of sugar is a lot, I think. Humans don't need added sugars at all and 25 grams is the maximum added sugar intake for an adult female. A half a cup is about a 100 grams. I personally think that if the the baby eats, pasta, milk, dairy etc. than he is probably having a lot of added sugars anyway. I get that you don't eat a bunch of those muffins all at once, but still seems like a lot. I personally use a few dates to sweeten muffins just a little bit which isn't ideal either, but a little bit healthier. Some really nice ideas though, many thanks.
In one muffin that is about 1tsp of white sugar. And you’re right, no one “needs” added sugar. It’s okay if that is too much in your opinion. You do you, boo! 😅
Did the Nematodes actually did the trick?
They may have cut the population some, but they are still present and active this year. I think I’m going to be using Trelona bait in the ground- just not in the actual garden.
I had 17 seed potatoes completely eaten by termites. I have read that nematodes can also damage tubers, so I may try to soak with Neem Oil next year, and then plant🤷♂️
Hi Mama Dube! I had the same problem. I reached out to Guy at his youtube page (www.youtube.com/@GuysPestSolutions) and he helped me tremendously. He has a wealth of stuff about how to get rid of these things in the yard and in your house if you are unlucky enough to find any there as well. Feel free to contact me or him if you have any questions. Thanks! Oh Im in 9a/b.
Thank you for information!
Youre very welcome.
Termites in your yard are harmless and natural. You can kill them but they'll come back, they are common in yards. This is why you keep up your house so you do not attract them there and have an issue.
It happened to me for my 1 day starter lol idk what's wrong
I'm dealing with this now and I have no idea what to do. They are destroying my onions D:
I’m sorry! I have them again this year, which makes me believe they never actually went away completely. It’s my understanding that (from our pest guy) that they are subterranean and they are living in my yard. I’m planning to put bait stations out this year to see if that helps:
@@mamadube I found them in my yard too. I didn’t want to call pest control because every article online about termites is written by a pest control company and seems to go something like “if you find termites in your yard, they’re probably in your house and you NEED to call us asap so we can kill everything in a 30-ft radius or your house is going to be destroyed TOMORROW!!” Lol. I’ve spent 6 years trying to cultivate a yard that welcomes insects and although I’m not opposed to using chemicals in targeted ways, I don’t want someone to just nuke my whole lawn. It’s very cool that your pest guy was straight up with you, gave you more info, and told you that you didn’t need him yet! It sounds like finding termites in your soil is honestly pretty normal because…they live here lol. It’s just a matter of managing them so they don’t get out of control. I’m going to try the nematodes-I’ve heard good things about their use for other pest issues. And maybe by just doing that once a season, it’ll keep the population down enough to keep it from being an issue. I also realized I was using way too much wood mulch and now I’m trying to move away from that as much as possible. I did learn that they don’t like cedar mulch because the oils are toxic to them, so I’m switching to cedar when I do need mulch.
How far along were u when u tested??
She said 11 weeks
Do you start your seedlings in the ground? If so - that’s legit 🙌🏽 I’m sure you already know, but maybe for the tomato and pepper seedlings, start them hydroponically/kratky Then transfer them once the weather and season locks in All of the smaller plants in your garden still looked healthy/happy! They just varied in growth Your snow peas looked better than a textbook… 🫡
15:14 - Baking Soda on the soil might help balance the acidity of vinegar, before transferring/adding plants to the garden bed I believe we are dealing with a similar situation in zone 8a… I honestly just put seeing them out of my mind 😅 (not good advice probably haha) Hope everything improves this season for you and you gain peace of mind 🙏🏽 I started questioning Home Depot’s soil and materials too, because of the vast amount of
Hi. Hope u doing great. I read that borax works great. Also found this ruclips.net/video/piVGaTrx670/видео.htmlsi=WxIzOnTsaEUXnG6u (Chickens love termites, that would be a great and fun termite control)
I found out I have termites in one of my clay pots and o. My compost pile. And O freaked out. I was searching on RUclips and found your video. I already knew about Borax, but I was looking for something more aggressive but natural when the chickens crossed my mind. Hope this helps, I know it is not for everyone, but at least we have options that don't harm our garden or environment. Hope your termites stopped bothering your garden.
Bags and bags of sugar. Termites eat sugar then each other.
Seriously? I’ve never heard of this!
Bait station stakes.
Do you have any advice on what type? Or where to get them? I found them again this year. 🤦🏻♀️
I’m curious about this as well. I just found terminates in my raised bed about 3 minutes ago, before finding this video. I’m STRESSED.
Ive used with success is Borax , found in your laundry detergent isle. I just broadcast it with my hand generally before a rain or I'll water the garden area with a hose. I don't use a hose end sprayer because I broadcast it on the heavy side. I gound if put on heavy it last teo growing seasons then I repeat the process. I have also used crushed red pepper in a hose end sprayer in conjunction with the Borax. Use quick lime to make your soil get back to basic. A PH of 6-7. Slugs set out saucers with beera d a little salt to the beer ot you can buy a slug killer that is granulated and is game over for slugs. Oh , also if I came across a bunch of termites I'd have a 1 gallon pump up sprayer and spray the little bastards with a bleach solution the whole time me saying " Oh my god it burns it burns ahh." The chloride evaporates fairly quick. That method will really wittle down the population cause you caught a large group of them. An outdoor fire with an old washtub filled with waterand boiling. Take a 1 gallon bucket and pour on them when you discover a bunch at a time. Set.pieces of untreated wood in your garden and couple days the 24 hour snack shack to them is a ambush target for you. Turn the wood over and "Oh my god it burns"..lol. But Borax I always do. Good luck
Thanks for the advice! Hopefully I don’t run into them this year, like I did last year!
Wow. These things have really upset you. I just found babies in one of my beds and with all this, I know I must act fast!
What about someone that has had a hysterectomy and have two auto-immune issues. I have not had a metabolism since I had my hysterectomy.
Thank you for the information! Helping me through OT school :)
I'm so glad!
Hello Can you please tell me how long have waited for a result after you post it.
If I remember correctly, it was almost 2 weeks.
New subbie here ❤
Thanks for the great video. Please make one for 3 year olds. :)
🥰 awwww so the sneak peak worked ! I’m excited to find out soon too Im praying for a baby girl too! Congratulations 🎉!!
Congrats to you as well!
Totally not related to the termites (which I’m pretty sure is what is killing my angel trumpet tree here in North Carolina 😢) but P. Allen Smith has a great video on growing lavender in cinder blocks. I bet that would be beautiful around your garden! Apparently the lavender likes whatever lime? That comes from the cinder blocks. Thanks for the video
I did not know that! And that’s so good to know. I’m totally going to try that next year! 😍 thanks for the tip!
There is a difference between cinder blocks and concrete blocks. DYR.
Fire ant grandnules start from house side do the whole yard and beds to the fence. Do it again next two days! Your welcome, sorry you’re gonna choose which neighbor you want them move to🤫
Oh really? I just discovered them again and I want to get rid of them so bad.😬 Tell me more. Is it organic?
Sorry it’s not organic. I’m a organic grower too but when it comes to red fire ants and termites organic get toss out the window,I work too hard on getting my babies to grow. Get off the ground cost more but you’ll be able to keep termites away organic
@@mamadubetry organic agricultural molasses flakes or liquid. Helps plants and increases diversity of soil life to discourage ants and termites.
I love your garden it's beautiful and amazing
Thank you so much 😊 I’ve worked hard on it!
Very Education Garden and Very Good Video ❤❤👍 still update ❤
Thank you!
Looks yummy!
I recently found termites in my raised bed too. I'm going to try the nematodes 🤞 hopefully it works for both of us!
I truly think it worked! I’m a couple of weeks past those treatments and I do believe they’re gone. I’d love to hear your results!
@Mama Dube I'm glad it worked! It will be a few weeks before I treat mine, but I'll let you know if it works for me too
Good luck to you! 👏🏻
@@bradbeard4329any updates?

Thank you so much for the comment. It has been a lot of work, but so worth it to see things growing! 💜
I’m so excited to see how this garden goes ❤ well done

We love you! Thanks for leaving a comment <3
Wooo who! You did it! 🎉
I did! Thanks for the encouragement! 🥰
Looking forward to see your garden grow. I have been starting seeds and daydreaming about getting out in the dirt.
So glad to have the support. Thank you for the encouragement! 💜
Hi Shelby, we’ve had a worm farm for 20+years- so good for your soil health and we grow veggies in pots and have fig, mulberry, nectarines, guavas, lemon and apricot trees on our suburban 1/4 acre property in Perth Western Australia. So nice to eat your own produce and it is so much tastier than store bought! You definitely are not boring me with your gardening journey ❤
Ahhh, thanks so much for the feedback! I was hesitant to share bc I’m really just learning as I go. The fruit trees you have sound so great! I dream of apple trees, peach trees, and berries everywhere. 💜💜
How many cinder blocks did you use for your beds?
I want to say 44-45? Just one single layer, although you obviously could have deeper beds if you double it. We chose not to for affordability!
I just found your channel. I live in a residential area outside an urban center and what you are doing gave me so many ideas!!!! I am just getting started on my garden and am always looking for people who have found success in this kind of environment to learn from. THANK YOU!
That makes me SO HAPPY to hear! We ultimately want a piece of property in a more rural area, but I also didn’t want to wait 😅. I sure hope it’s a successful and high yielding garden this year and I’ll be sharing throughout the year. I’m so glad you are here and I hope you stick around through the motherhood content that is also shared on my channel. 🤗💜
I just found you. I subscribed. I'm looking forward to seeing how the plants do.😁
Oh yay! So glad to have you here. I post a lot of motherhood stuff too so I hope that also catches your interest. Mainly I just share what I’m up to as a mom. 😅 Thanks for the support! Makes me even more excited to share.
I love this I’m excited lol
🥰😁 me too! Haha… if I haven’t already said do.
I half expected you to say “and in this video I am going to be excited” 😂😂😂
Haha! That intro was hindsight, not foresight 😅
I also heard that sugar activates sourdough. Thanks for sharing 🙂
I love to share! Thanks for your comment and for watching <3
