Decided to play with an action camera for a few matches and found that I really enjoyed both the video editing and ability to look back at my prior matches. This has led me to using this as an online journal of my time in the practical shooting sports as a way to keep my self accountable and measure my growth in the sport.
FV USPSA Dec 2024, CO HOA
Pretty excited to get a HOA so soon after jumping into CO. Temp held in the mid 30s most of the day and was not too punishing, the cold did mess with my camera a bit and I lost the video of stage 1.
I did not sleep well the night before and felt pretty sluggish form most of the day and I tried to just focus on getting as many Alphas as I could. I had to re-engage target's more often than I would have liked, but at the same time shot calling was never something that I did well with iron sights, so not tanking with a few extra mikes was nice. I still catch myself looking at the dot sometimes, but I am getting more comfortable with it overall.

I am annoyed at how much I am enjoying CO so far, It literally feels like cheating with this set up! The hardest part for me is adjusting my stage plans to be comfortable taking further shots and shooting on the move on targets that I otherwise wouldn't with iron sights.

Second outing with the dot! If you watch carefully you can see the exact shot where I don't win the match! For real, it was a tough match and a great one to start the division with, with a number of skilled competitors and a pretty close run for many.

Kinda of an odd match, the club left up their USPSA stages from the previous week and generally adapted them to the IDPA rule set. Two matches this weekend. A nice close and fast hose fest at my local club and a more complex USPSA match on Sunday. The action pistol match went pretty smoothly, I pushed speed pretty hard with ton of points down but more than competitive for that match. The USPSA match was not my best showing. After the IDPA state match weekend, I took a couple weeks off from ALL shooting, which then lead to whatever this atrocity was. I guess it didn't help shooting 3 different rule sets and 4 different guns/gear configuration with zero practice in between. Still had a great time though! First IDPA match in ~18 months. Pretty fun match, lots of activators and up close targets. I dropped a ton of points in places I shouldn't have, but not hitting any no-shoots or being proceduraled out of existence was nice. Stages completed in order shown. Temps at or in the 90s with fully sun, made for lots of water and pro-grip!

I shot the IDPA PA State match yesterday and figured since I was running different gear I should go all in with a fully "Timmy'ed" out limited optics gun today :) First time in the division and first shots with a Red dot in several years. Nice easy day today. The stages were mostly straight forward. I was more relaxed today and did not try to be overly aggressive, I just let everything happen as it needed to and it turned out pretty well.

Finally had a match where it wasn't pouring rain and I could actually record! I have knack for being first on activator heavy stages and them dumpstering them, today was no different. Not the match I wanted after last week, but here it is. The stages were awesome, but I was not mentally there. Been working 60 hours a week for a while and now dealing with what is likely the last few days with a close family member. Optics schmoptics :P I had a really good match today. An early dumpster fire was a solid mental check to use the bumpy things on the blaster a little more. I also looked for as many places as I could to shoot on the move while keeping the risk to a minimum.

Pretty solid day with some bipolar weather. Everything from sunny and warm to a random (but brief) ice storm. Mostly lots of close fast shooting, except for stage 1. Which had the most difficult shots of the day and a "monkey"activator that I failed to give it the proper respect!

Nice run . Its crazy seeing you run irons in a world turning to dots. I do still have irons on my Beretta 92a1 though they're competion style from Wilson combat fiber optic green front and black rear sight. I want to get a dot just poor lol also isn't that high of a priority rn .
