imho, when it comes to pure speed, the crown goes to either michael angelio or impellitteri. But as a guitarist overall, i think sykes, evh and Blackmore are unmatched

yngwie's SHREDDERS is spiritual, （It means fast enough to have a soul） different from theirs, personal opinion.

Malmsteen (circa 83-85) would crush "Jack Butler" any day of the year.

I liked the clips of these guitarists when they lay off the heavy distortion. Sometimes, the cleaner sounds without all the extra bells & whistles actually showcase the musician's talent better.

If you are talking about total speed , without a doubt he would have to be in the top three. How fast do you want to burn up the fretboard? I have alot of respect for Malmsteen. and I went through my Malmsteen, Satriani and Vai stage. However, I prefer guys with a little less speed. EVH, Michael Schenker and Gary More for instance. I really enjoy bluesy guys like Robin Trower, Rory Gallagher and Stevie Ray Vaughan. These guys are very talented without playing extremely fast. To each his own and whatever your taste is fine.

I say this as a Gary Moore and Paul Gilbert fan, Yngwie sounds better here. In terms of speed, articulation, clarity, smooth attack, precision etc. he was untouchable.

Some of these are unfair comparisons as they’re using the shittiest possible room recordings of the other guitarists and then studio quality recordings of Malmsteen.

Batio, Gilbert and Vai are the only ones in that bunch that could have gone up against Yngwie, and he would of one.....at shredding. But who is my favorite of the 4? Steve Vai all day long. Their music is souless. Steve Vai on the other hand is outerworldy.
