My headphones ended up partially disconnected and the audio was distorted. It sounded like this song was being played back on a gameboy. The piano was still crisp, but with an added crunchiness in the background. I have been trying to recreate that sound, I can't. It was so surreal.

You know, I just read about the Torii Gate, sometimes called the Red Gate. Well, this gate symbolizes the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead.

God, Ariane and Elster holding hands before a dark, towering forest is such a powerful image, beautiful and tragic, perfectly gives off the vibe of the game.

kind of unfitting but lol when i first found out about signalis youtube started to show me some reels that i cunningly avoided as to not get any spoilers and among the first of these reels was one that showed slightly cropped adler’s side profile on its thumbnail and as i knew already that the game was about lesbians and didn’t know anything about adler i saw the slicked back hair and remebered the slicked buns of women in military and thought “omg there is a military female character in there! pretty sure she will be the lesbian in the game” and then i forgot about this thought almost immediately and then i… watched the actual game 💀💀💀 ah yea adler one of our favorite lesbians

During this part of the game I kept coming back to this room just to relax a little, the music is so good and almost disturbingly calm compared to the other stuff you are introduced to in this section and especially what comes after.

Before I started this game, I was obsessed with it's usage of Raindrop. I loved it so much and thought that song was so closely tied to the game that I accepted it as the overall mood I would probably be entering into when I played it. Yet, it really shouldn't be a surprise that it was this instead. Just as this painting shows up so frequently throughout the story, why shouldn't the song named after it be just as fitting to the overall themes and events of the story. I think it's perfect that Raindrop's feature in the soundtrack appears under the title of 'The Promise.' It feels like something final; a heavy weight finally moving to release, as we see given it's usage at the end of the game. Each progression of chords hitting the strings feels like Elster's heavy steps down the hallway towards Falke's chamber, towards the Gate, towards the Penrose-512 one final time. There is a finality in it, a sense of progression however heavy it might be, a gradual crescendo towards release at last. Towards peace, an end. Die Toteninsel's feels, well...Empty. It is emptiness. It is a lingering, rolling sound. A somberness circling the drain, searching, longing for a final escape, yet never to find it. Ever lost in repeating scenery. Ariane is desperately trying to find the cycle where Elster can make it to her chamber, with all the answers and all of her memories and at last the ability to make good on their promise. But is that promise even a reality? Is it even an ending? Whether she is able to make good on her promise or not, Elster collapses beside the cryopod in the same position as when she returns yet again, ripping apart the armor to patch herself up yet again. All the while as life leaves her, it is this song that plays. A song of lingering, of longing, and drowning emptiness. Only two endings seemingly break from this cycle, and are notably free of this accompanying theme. Does that make them canon? Does that break the cycle? Or does it only prove to be stray cycles in a never ending loop as Ariane has long been absorbed into whatever hellish nightmare might come close to comprehending her nature as The Red Eye?

Has less... outright notes than the other tracks of similar kind, but gee, *ow.* Does a lot, even without the thought of... well, them. Poor people, really.

The hands covering an *actively flowing* stream sure is neat. Do have to wonder what this means for The Empress, this pit, Ariane, and so-on unincluded.

My God, this track is so cool, but at the same time sad, because when I listen to this melody, tears start coming into my eyes, as if I really experienced someone's death

Weirdly... hearty, though the place may fit it well, however hard it is to describe it. The "Ritual Nowhere" heard later achieves something in conjuction.

I love music like this. Its soo, melancholic. It evokes feelings of a time long gone when I was happy, that's faded by time. Very beautiful.

I think this track greatly accompanies Adler's situation everything around him, the world he helped to organise, is falling apart by forces he cant fight or control, and at the darkest hour, the only person he can turn to slowly succumbs too instead of losing his nerves screaming, he becomes more passive each cycle, not being above the system but a part of it, letting things pass through him, becoming more disconnected and falling into himself, trying to grab onto something to change situation anyhow, roaming to find the solution or sitting in his room, half awake half dreaming, indifferent to surrounding, his eyes present but not fully grasping things around him

Honestly this is one of those songs that immedietaly stuck with me on the long run, just having this play as I read Adler's journal made me feel very odd, I think I was starting to actually understand just how dark the world must feel just not for me, but for everyone else.

To me this song paints a picture in my head, the vast emptiness of space (from the ambiental part of the song), and when the instruments kick in, the beauty of the nebulas, what's wrong with me 😭

This game taught me an extremely important lesson, very simple but, "A good ending is not always a happy one."
