Wu Shangwei, a Shaolin fighting monk, visited Hillcrest Jujitsu in April, 2009 for a self-defense seminar plus Kung Fu demonstration. Here is demonstrating a Kung Fu short-form he was trying to teach us. Apparantly, the mats were slowing him down a bit because normally he work out on a hard floor, but he looked pretty fast to us.

Wu Shangwei, a Shaolin Fighting Monk, visited Hillcrest Jujitsu in April, 2009 for a self-defense demonstration. He also demonstrated several Kung Fu forms. This is a demonstration of Tai Chi as practiced by Shaolins. It's a bit different than what Americans think of Tai Chi - notice the extremely low stances (plus some kicks) - it's "slow", but it has tremendous power.
Goshin Jujitsu - Rock-n-block jab/cross defense
Просмотров 12 тыс.16 лет назад
2 techniques that demonstrate a rock-n-block against repeated jab/cross from an attacker. First technique shows a shorter jab/cross, second technique shows an attacker who is "reaching" a bit more. There are endless combinations, these are just two.

great training ethic, well performed and executed. Goshin all the way guys.
Thanks! I believe they trained with him a long time ago. Not exclusively, but they trained with him.
Very nice Waza !!! Are you guys part of Grand Master Durrants Goshin style ? I see some similarities in what we do, very effective !!!!
beside the fact I'm certain Goshin Jitsu is the name of a kata in Kodokan Judo, Judo came from Jujitsu which that particular kata reflects. This looks pretty much just like a well run Jujitsu school. WJJF teaches similar stuff but alot of modern day instructors don't practice randori enough like the guys in this video do.
Wow, this is impressive. Seeing this gets me really excited because I plan on taking karate soon and the instructor says the style he teaches is Sansei Shito Ryu with Goshin Budo Jiu Jitsu and Dento Ryu Kobudo. This is an amazing demonstration, thank you.
Good realistic attacks makes for good realistic defences.
Seriously nice moves.
Depending on how you look at it both require technique. If you are talking about a wrestling takedown like a single or double leg takedown then they require technique to be the most effective. If you are talking about a flat out tackle then that is more power, but I am sure football players practice the finer details of making it effective.
This looks more like a karate hybrid than jujitsu. If it's jujitsu, then it's definitely overkill. There's no need for this excessive deployment of force to execute a jujitsu technique in a properly trained individual. Moreover, it's a waste of energy, especially if having to deal with more than one individual.
Goshin Jujitsu can work for people of all body types.
Hey i am a heavy type so that what style should i learn?
Very impressive techniques! I'm a brown belt in Budoshin Jujitsu and I can say your techniques are awesome! Keep up the good work!
Nice!!
Read older posts for this topic.
Wooow very very nice respect. But i miss osoto gari there :D
throws are technique....take down is power
isnt that judo?!
Awesome.... I dont know how they do it!
i thing it takes years b4 u perfect that move/technique... that was a great technique..
Скоростные ребята на демонстрации ))
thats not traditional jujitsu, its a western hybrid.Even in japan ,most jujitsu schools arent classical anymore, thats almost dead art.Traditional jujitsu was learned and practised almost entirely through kata,no sparring, thats why kano started judo.
thats entirely incorrect,by doing that he'll hinder your ability to practise the tech properly because fatigue impedes coordination.New skills are alwys learned when completely fresh.Very well learned skills can be done fatigued to battle harden them.
How do jujitsu throws differ from aikido throws
Technique.
One way my trainer makes us focus on technique is to make us do lots of workout before the start of training to tire us out that we wouldn't use too much muscle strength.
GREAT I want to find a good class
Traditional Ju Jitsu (at least in the UK) does have competitions, one catagory is continuous fighting which is essentially 1 minute of kickboxing, 1 minute of stand-up grappling trying to throw, and then 1 minute of grapping. So yes, we do "hit each other" lol - It's a very complete art.
it's also very similar to funakoshi's "encircle the neck" throw from karate-do kyohan. more hip on your's, though.
do they actually hit each other in jujitsu
Always practice throws assuming that your opponent will be larger and heavier than you. The only way to throw somebody like that is with technique, not just muscle.
Technique.
Are throws more technique or power?
lol at 00:50 the guy looks like he dies
Damn wish I could fight like that
Not bad at all. Very impressive. Also, Uke: "put your hands up!", Tori: "Drop it!", After showing up the wimp using the firearm, knife or bat. Funny really, people assume that a weapon makes them stronger. Not necessarily, it does give you an advantage but nonetheless, the human body is the greatest weapon, being so versatile and elegant in it's ability to break bones, strangle you, throw you and kill you in pretty much any way that it can.
Not bad at all. Very impressive.
I'm in jujitsu as well but my throws aren't nearly as good as this. The only throw i'm actually good at is O Goshi, otherwise i need a lot more practice. Any tips on how to make them better if they're are any?
this looks sooooo awesome
its all impressive...I was particularly fond of 1:43
DAM, only if you where in California.
damn them locks look sharp.
cool
If you think Brazilian JJ is all about ground, you guys probably never trained at a bjj school. Japanese JJ came to brazil and the Gracie's modified it so the weak could have a chance against a larger opponent through leverage, not speed/athleticism. Some pretty cool looking moves throughout the video. Thx for posting.
0:47 Very impressive
How thick are your mats? They seem softer than tatami, but harder than a crash pad. They seem as if they are nice to take falls on.
Nice techniques
i really like all of these!! im in ait for army right now and just recently had a combatives tourny i took part in and in the final round i threw my guy check it out and could you let me know what i could have done diff how was my technique "huge combatives slam"=vid
very nice moves. Most of the wazas are hard, short and not too fancy. only 0:55 and 1:26 which i find a bit excessive while only responding to classic karate style jodan tsuki.
Very good technique.Very good speed
