Просмотров 13 тыс.2 года назад
Hello! Since uploading my 'How to make greetings cards to sell on Etsy' video I have had a couple of people asking how I made the card template so I figured I would make a video showing you. I am so pleased that so many people found the first greetings card video helpful. If you have any more questions do leave them below and I will help if I can!
How to MAKE & SELL greetings cards on Etsy using Canva, 2022 Full Tutorial
Просмотров 97 тыс.2 года назад
In this video, I am going to be demonstrating EXACTLY how I design and make greetings cards to sell on my Etsy store. As you know I started my Etsy store creating cake toppers. After a while of creating cake toppers and banners, I made the decision to branch out and create greetings cards to go alongside my cake topper designs. When I was initially learning how to make them I watched countless ...
I do wish creators would title their videos accurately. A lot of time can be wasted watching videos only to find out the video is about creating invitations not selling them.
hi, if you can copy and paste the text font from a purchased template to a new document and then edit it, is it ok to sell invitaion with any purchased font??
what size do you use for mockup template? is it a custom size or just start new project and create?
I wish I could do that, but when it comes to computers I am totally lost! Beautiful card!!
The card is pretty 😊
You don't need canva pro to create the template links.
@@theshoefairy you did at the time of me making this video. Good to see they’ve changed it 😊
When I send as template link, I had a family member try it out and they were able to just unlock everything and edit my entire project. how do I stop that from happening?
Just to let you know at 8:21 “thoroughly” is spelt incorrectly for step 1.
Thanks!!! Lovely video
This was awesome! Thank you!
Do you have a tutorial on how you created your template?
Does anyone know any solutions for uploading a square image if you want to make rectangle greeting cards
If your customer doesnt have the font that u have purchased and uploaded from Creative Fabrica themselves on their computer, will they still be able to change the name and details in your invitati9n template?
Great tutorial! Question: after locking your elements can the customer unlock them while editing the template? Or do they not have access to that? Edit: I just noticed you answered that question for someone else. Thank you!! I love how easy to understand your tutorial is!
Thank you for this amazing class! I just published my first invitation!
@@Monicasgm oh my gosh, that’s so exciting congratulations!
I have been watch so many video on how to make cards on Canva. Your video is the best so far. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and giving hope to people like me. please make and post more videos on different topics.
@@alkabhola4618 thank you so much for your kind words. I am so pleased that you found my video helpful
This was such a great video! Thank you!
Big big thank you ❤
This is a good idea for my poetry cards
Love this video thank you. Quick questions when you used the score board you did two scores, was this twice over the same line? Or did you score two lines? Sorry if this is a silly question 🙈
Great explanation! Quick question, when they purchase it will the template automatically download? How does that process work?
How do you lock the graphic so that they wont duplicate it and make the text the only editable part?
Please could you do a video recognising when you can use canvas designs for your own design or when you can’t because of copyright right☺️
Hi, thank you for the helpful video. Will the link you provided to customers change the original template?
@@JazzyCham No, the link provided will make a copy of the original design for each customer
@@lovinglygiftedcothank you
How do you set it up where the link automatically sends to them?
Am I right thinking you've used Pro illustrations with the dinosaurs? You said to not use Pro elements .... or is it a case of, if these are locked, people can still edit for free without having to buy Pro?
ok I'm so confused lol but you are designing on a 6x6 card, so why have you set the printer at that particular size? I have tried exactly the same way as this and the printing is completely off. What am I doing wrong? You say to measure your card and put the measurements into canva so surely it would be 6 x 12 if you are using a 6x6 card base? I hate trying to figure all this out lol, any help would be appreciated. x x
So helpful
Do you sell the pages where you say whats included and etc ...?
This was the best video by far I've watched!! One question though, if different customers purchase the listing & they each receive the PDF with the clickable link, does that link lead each person to their own editable template or will they see another's edits?
Hi, thank you so much! I’m so glad that it’s been helpful! So by creating a template link it will direct each individual customer to their own copy of the invite. The original you created will not change. But keep in mind, any changes you make to the original will also change the initial download for the customers
I make cards by hand but I’d love to use my illustrations and your demo of Canva Pro inspires me to try it! Is Canva Pro hard to learn? I know you’ve been using for a long time but do you think a novice could?
Yes absolutely! I think Canva is actually very user friendly once you’ve learned the different things you can do. RUclips has so many amazing Canva tutorials for beginners. Even after using it for several years I’m still learning new features. The more you use it the more you’ll learn and it’ll become like second nature to you. You absolutely can do it 🙂
Thank you so much! If i use fonts that i purchased in Creative Fabrica, will my customers still be able to edit using these fonts? (as you mentioned if you used canva pro fonts the customers won't be able to use them?)
Yes! So templates created with purchased fonts are usable by the customer. I’m also pretty sure that the Pro Canva fonts can be used by free accounts if they’re used on templates produced by a pro account. I’m pretty sure it’s only the pro Canva elements that aren’t useable by free accounts at all
But client with free canva cant download in pdf for printed or jpg is with 300 dpi ? or depend of file that you upload means it must have 300 dpi for printes but still client cant download in pdf option only standar that I dont know if is good for to print a poster of 24 x17 inches for example.....
Jpg can be good for printing, it depends on the quality of the design and the quality of the printer and paper. Many factors will play into the quality of the end result. The reason why I recommend PDF print, it it’s what is best but if someone doesn’t have that acess then print using what you can.
Free canva able to download pdf print, I did just few mins ago
Is there a big difference between downloading it as PDF print or PDF standard?
With a PDF print it’s a higher quality
I’ve been using this method for months now but for some reason when I’m trying to print now and put the page size which is the same as yours when I go to print the images aren’t aligning like normal. Do you have any idea why
I would double check that you have the correct measurements programmed on your printer settings. Sometimes with updates they may reset
This is so helpful omg
I’m so glad you think so!
Hi, what sizes are the pages you're using for the instructions and stuff? Custom dimensions?
Hello! So for my template/instruction PDF I just have it as standard A4 size however you have have it however you want
Thank you so much for providing such helpful and insightful information! I have been wanting to do this for years and I was finally able to take the plunge due to your wonderful assistance. This was so easy to follow! You are greatly appreciated!
Oh that is incredible, I’m excited for you & so happy that this video helped you take the plunge! Best of luck!
can i get the link for font little dreamer please. Thank you
Unfortunately the font is one that I have purchased so I cannot provide a link to it. I believe the business I purchased it from was called ‘Super Nice Stuff’
Thank you for the great tips! I'm new to selling digital downloads on Etsy and appreciate the help.
You are most welcome, good luck with your business!
This has been so very helpful, thank you x
Hello, first I want to say thank you so much for explaining everything in detail, it really helps and I think I really get how to create it but I'm finding it a bit confusing on how we make one file a png and then making it a pdf, I saw a different video that said to make it a puff print at the end. Is there any chance you could explain why some files are a ping and some are off and also if the same file can be both ways? I'm so confused on the file names for some reason my head is spinning. Thank you for anything you can help with
So sorry I haven’t responded sooner. A PNG is a file type that is generally used for clipart images as it enables the image to have a transparent background. As for a PDF it is a portable document format. Generally PDFs are used for mostly text based files, I use the PDF format for my downloadable file as it is the file type that allows me to insert the link to my invitation templates for the customer to access. When downloading from Canva to your computer you simply just chose which file type you want to use whether it’s a PNG, PDF etc. I hope this helped
beautiful! can i ask what paper you use? i love the texture! xx
The exact card blanks I use are listed in the description of my “how to make greetings cards” video here - ruclips.net/video/MUfOtTPEZ6k/видео.htmlsi=GncaCns_onIqGJQi
Very helpful and informative. Thank you.
How much do you typically make off these digital invitations in one month?
So sorry I haven’t gotten back to you sooner. The amount you can make from digital files completely depends on the work you put into it. If you have very few Etsy listings and don’t regularly add new ones your sales will be slow. If you continually add new designs and put effort into your Etsy you will make sales. My sales have been relatively slow as I haven’t had the time to invest into adding new products. I’m making on average £100 profit a month with minimum effort
Can you attach the link for the card stock paper you are using?

Do I understand correctly that the text should not be locked? Just the elements or image. So buyer can change?
This is entirely up to you. I personally choose to lock my images and any text that is meant for the design. The text I leave unlocked is usually the parts the customer will customise such as name, address etc. having said that it is entirely your choice if you want to lock elements or not
Hey, such a useful video. How many cards roughly do you get per pack of ink? Xx
I honestly couldn’t say as I print lots of things beyond greetings cards x
I cannot find a invitation mockup that even resembles a card in canva? Is that a pro feature?
Yes it does seem to be a pro feature. If you don’t want to pay for pro you can search on Etsy for invitation mockups as this would be a one time purchase rather than paying monthly for Canva pro - just to note though you will need a Canva pro account if you’re intending to create invitation templates and the template link feature is pro only
I need more detail after creating the card and getting the link from canva to paste in Etsy. I’m confused about adding thank you page when and where exactly. Me being a beginner I can’t quite put it together?
